National Donut Day 2022 is the best day for licking the sweet icing off a FREE donut — or “doughnut,” as some spell it — but did you know the day honors the heroes of World War I and not just fried pastries?
The day was named to remember the Salvation Army Lasses, who served doughnuts to soldiers on the front lines in WWI. To commemorate them and celebrate a classic treat, some of America’s favorite donut shops give away FREE donuts on National Donut Day.

National Donut Day is the first Friday in June, making it June 3 in 2022.
