Kids Eat Free at IHOP in August – Last chance! It’s one freebie per adult entree. According to the location finder at the IHOP Kids Eat Free link, there are seven participating Albuquerque IHOPs.

Hotel Andaluz Ibiza Bar Wine Tastings: To September 8

A Summer wine tasting series at the trendy Ibiza rooftop bar, weekly to September 8, 2010. This sounds like a fun and good value way to visit the Ibiza rooftop bar if you haven’t been before.

The Wednesday night wine tastings are hosted by sommelier Nathan Claiborn, sharing his experience of how to select wines to suit your personal taste and your meal. Each event focuses on different wines (see list below) plus light hors d’oeuvres for $18 per person.

Sipapu Free Music on the Rocks Concert

The first Music on the Rocks festival twangs up its guitar strings on Saturday August 7, 2010. It’s free for all and family-friendly. Read on for the details, plus a lodging deal if you want to make a weekend of it.

Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort debuts the free festival with live music and a wine tasting by La Chiripada Winery of Dixon, mixed in with a straw bale demonstration, organic farming presentation, and a documentary film on sustainable living. (Only in New Mexico!)

Music on the Rocks runs from 2pm till dark, and here’s the free concert line-up:

• 2 – 3 pm:  Max Gomez  I heard this Taos folk and rock musician recently, he’s terrific. And frighteningly young to be so good.
• 3 – 5 pm:  Etc.   That’s not me saying etcetera, that’s the name of the pop and rock band from Boulder.
• 5 – 7 pm:  John O. Blues Band   Another Boulder band playing blues, rock, funk, and soul

Sipapu is about a 2.5 hour drive from Albuquerque via Santa Fe, 20 miles southeast of Taos. Get directions to Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort.

If you want to make a long weekend of it, a Sipapu lodging deal gives the third night free when you pay for the first two nights. On the weekend of the music festival, the offer is good on Motel Rooms and Lodge Rooms only.

Lavender in the Village Festival 2010

Live entertainment, cooking classes, lavender crafts and activities, wine tour and tastings, and plenty for the kids to do at this sweet summer festival on Saturday and Sunday June 26 and 27, 2010.

It’ll be a fragrant weekend at the 7th annual Lavender in the Village Festival in Los Ranchos, with family fun including:

• TGI Friday’s premium menu with 3 courses for $16.99 
• Brasserie La Provence $30 prix fixe menu of three courses from 10:30 am to 3 pm.
• Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro Mother’s Day Brunch from 10 am to 3 pm offers the regular menu plus specials, and classical guitar music by Dan Dowling.
• Zinc Mother’s Day Jazz Dinner from 5 pm includes a starter amuse-bouche and sparkling apertif and a three course prix fixe menu for $40, with music by the Robb Janov Quartet.
• The Standard Diner Buffet Brunch is from 9:30 am to 3 pm at $27 for adults, or $10 for kids aged 5-12.
• Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort serves Mother’s Day brunch in the smart Corn Maiden restaurant from 11 am to 3 pm, at $60 or $30 for kids aged 12 and under. In the more casual Santa Ana Café, brunch runs from 10 am to 3 pm, for $45 – kids half that price.
• Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown buffet brunch is $28, and kids eat at half price, aged 12 and under. It’s all happening in the Sheraton Ballroom from 11 am to 2 pm.

• $3 off a 12 piece KFC meal – find Kentucky Fried Chicken coupons by entering your zip code for deals near you – for example, for the San Mateo Blvd. KFC, coupons include

• Slate Street Cafe’s wine tasting in their chic wine loft on Thursday April 29 at 5 to 7:30 pm features wines from the Pacific Northwest – get three “generous tastes” of the featured wines plus appetizer for $18. I like Slate Street Cafe’s food but haven’t been to any of their wine tastings yet – I’d love to know if YOU have been and think this is a good value experience for 18 bucks.
