Wine Tasting at Savoy Bar & Grill – Italian wines on Saturday July 31 at 2:45 pm. Try a variety of central Italian wines, mainly from Tuscany. Wines paired with “small bites” for $30 a head plus tax and tip. Places are limited – you need to make a reservation before they fill.

Lunch with Author Melanie Sumner at the Artichoke Cafe: July 28 at noon. $25 including lunch, beverage, dessert, tax, tip, donation to New Mexico Symphony Guild AND a talk by Sumner on her New Mexico novel The Ghost of Milagro Creek.  A pretty good deal, huh? • It’s 31 cent scoop night at Baskin-Robbins on Wednesday April 28 from 5 to 10 pm – you can get ice cream scoops for just 31 cents, with a limit of three 2.5 oz scoops per person, while supplies last at participating stores. This promo is in honor of America’s Firefighters: The Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation is donating $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. A double YAY to Baskin-Robbins! And don’t be surprised if there’s a donation box on hand – give generously!
• Zinc Wine Bar’s Beer Dinner at 5:30 pm on April 24 costs $39, which seems a good deal for a reception with hors d’ouevres – or nibbles as we posh people call ‘em – followed by a four course dinner menu including jerked chicken, Flatiron Steak Sandwich, and Chocolate Raspberry Bavarian Cream Torte, all paired with brews from Colorado’s Ska Brewing. You need to make a reservation, and the $39 food and brew menu doesn’t include tax or tips.
• Buy One Burrito Get One Free at Mondo’s Baja Mexican with this BOGO coupon (via Valpak). Mondo’s Baja Mexican is located near Lovelace Westside Hospital.
• $3 off a 12 piece KFC meal – find Kentucky Fried Chicken coupons by entering your zip code for deals near you – for example, for the San Mateo Blvd. KFC, coupons include
  $3 off a 12 piece KFC meal, expiring April 30, 2010.
• Slate Street Cafe’s wine tasting in their chic wine loft on Thursday April 29 at 5 to 7:30 pm features wines from the Pacific Northwest – get three “generous tastes” of the featured wines plus appetizer for $18. I like Slate Street Cafe’s food but haven’t been to any of their wine tastings yet – I’d love to know if YOU have been and think this is a good value experience for 18 bucks. When we say “tapas,” we ain’t talking your garden variety nosh. A typical sampling of Prairie Star tapas may include truffle potato skins or lobster-shrimp fritters. Now them’s tapas!

Sure, it’s a bit of a buzz from ABQ, but well worth it for an ocasional indulgence. And since reservations are never required at the wine bar, you don’t have to rush to get there at any specific time.
