Ticket prices are $5 for the public, $3 for UNM students, and $4 for UNM faculty and staff. You can also get a $15 student season pass or $20 general season pass.

The ASUNM Southwest Film Center is located on the lower level of UNM’s Student Union Building. Enter from Central Avenue as if going to Popejoy Hall, then go past Popejoy and it’s the next block on the left.

November 16, 2010 by
Filed under Art & Entertainment, Books, Events

Leslie Marmon Silko is one of my favorite authors, best known for her first novel Ceremony. She was born in Albuquerque, raised on the Laguna Pueblo Reservation, and graduated from UNM where she later taught. Yeah, yeah, you know all that. Well, the brilliant Native American writer returns to UNM on Thursday November 18 at 7 pm for a discussion and signing of her memoir The Turquoise Ledge.

The free Leslie Marmon Silko event presented by Bookworks, ABC Libraries, IFAIR, and the UNM Creative Writing Program takes place:

  • When:  Thursday November 18, 2010
  • Time:  7 pm
  • Where:  UNM’s Woodward Hall
  • Price:  Admission is free!

This is her first full-length work of non-fiction and her first book in nearly a decade. You can hear or read an NPR review of The Turquoise Ledge.

Woodward Hall is located on the main UNM campus, north west of the Center for the Arts – get directions and parking for UNM Woodward Hall.

I’d arrive early, I suspect it may be packed with Leslie Marmon Silko fans!
