Comments Off on Revolutions Free Party Jan 10 and $5 Student Tickets
The Tricklock Company’s Revolutions International Theatre Festival 2012 starts this week, and they’re kicking off with a free party on Tuesday January 10.
The Revolutions Party acts up from 7 – 10 pm on January 10, including a chance to meet the performers, and music by Goddess of Arno. The party is free but you’ll have to pay for your own Tractor Brewing Company beer Head to The Box Performance Space at 114 Gold Avenue SW and The Resource Center next door to join the party – it’s at Gold and 2nd Avenue.
The Revolutions International Theatre Festival runs for three weeks, and main event tickets are $18, with a $3 discount at $15 for students and seniors. The best way to save if you’re going to multiple events is with a Passport for multiple shows – for example it’s $60 for four shows (or $48 for seniors and students).
Students can also get $5 student rush tickets five minutes before the start of each show where tickets remain – which is more likely at the larger venues. Smaller ones might sell out. Take your student ID.
Comments Off on Free Tricklock Performance: Lullabies for My Father
Tricklock Company’s newest work is Lullabies for My Father – make a reservation to see it free as part of the Revolutions International Theatre Festival 2011.
Lullabies for My Father is based on interviews with various members of the community about their relationships with their fathers and ideas of fatherhood. This original Tricklock Company work also includes improv and comments from social media sites like the Facebook groups I Hate My Father (ouch!) and My Father is the Best. Guess there’s plenty of grist for the theatrical mill there, and the resulting performance is described as “hilarious, sometimes heart-breaking, and highly entertaining”.
See Lullabies for My Father free on Friday, January 21 at noon, in a collaboration between Tricklock Company, AMP Concerts, and the Friends for the Public Library. The show is at the Main Library on Copper, make reservations online in advance. You also get free validated parking at the 5th and Copper Parking Garage!
- When: Friday January 21, 2011
- Time: 12 noon
- Where: Main Library, 501 Copper NW
- Price: Free! But make a reservation online in advance.
Lullabies for My Father is part of the Revolutions International Theatre Festival, and if you can’t make the free show, tickets are also available for purchase for The X Theatre performances on the evenings of January 20 and 21, via UNM Ticket Office. But then you have to pay $10 per ticket…
Comments Off on $5 Student Rush Tickets: Catgut Strung Violin
In case you have no idea what that headline means, let us explain.
First, the deal: students get $5 rush rate tickets 5 minutes before curtain at each performance (except the opening night gala).
Second, the work: Catgut Strung Violin is Tricklock Company‘s newest production, and it’s a doozie. An original work created by Tricklock members Kevin Elder and Alex Knight, along with guest artist Charles Gamble, Catgut Strung Violin is the hilarious story of an unlikely hero’s journey through the foxholes, full of physicality reminiscent of the great comedians of silent film. The play is a surreal work that explores the horrors and absurdities of war through our hero, Anton, and his cherished violin.
For those who either aren’t students or don’t want to take a chance on whether or not tickets will be available at curtain, shows cost $18 general admission, $12 students and seniors, and can be reserved by calling 254-7716.
The performance runs May 7 through June 7. Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm, at the Auxiliary Dog Art Theatre, 3011 Monte Vista Blvd NE (near UNM), Albuquerque.
