Comments Off on Mommy’s Market Consignment Sale & 50% Off Presale Pass

Albuquerque children’s consignment sale for spring– you can’t consign the kids, but you might pick up a bargain! Plus 50% off presale passes to shop before the show, available for a limited time…

Change of season, change of clothes… but kids are changing all the time. (Did ya notice?)
The Albuquerque Mommy’s Market  spring consignment sale on March 2-3, 2012 could be just the place to find gently used kids’ clothing and save a few bucks on dressing the offspring both for the new season and their new size. Plus the sale includes maternity wear, children’s furniture, toys, and equipment for moms, kids and babies.

Right now there’s a limited time deal for 50% off a presale ticket for $5 instead of the regular $10, to get early access to the bargains on March 1 from 7 – 9 pm, before the main event opens. The offer is only via Living Social, not at the Mommy’s Market website, and it’s also available for the Santa Fe Mommy’s Market presale in May.

Otherwise, the Albuquerque Mommy’s Market  admission pricing is:

  • $1 on Friday March 2 –  assuming you find even one thing to buy you’ll save that dollar many times over.
  • Admission is free on the morning of Saturday March 3, when they clear many remaining items at half price.

Judging by the guidelines for sellers, Mommy’s Market has pretty high standards and sale items must be in good shape and washed prior to the event, so it shouldn’t be a game of ‘spot-the-rip’. Just a game of ‘grab the bargain’.

Albuquerque Mommy’s Market

  • When: Friday March 2, 2012
  • Time: 9 am – 7 pm
Half Price Sale on Saturday March 3, from 9 am – 1 pm.
Where: Berean Gym, 3800 Eubank Blvd NE.
  • Price: $1 admission Friday / Free on Saturday

If you want to sell children’s items yourself, the last day to sign up as a seller is February 24.

Toys for Tots and a Free Haircut

December 1, 2011 by

Toys for Tots AlbuquerqueI have a soft spot for the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, which aims to give every child a merry Christmas by ensuring they have a new toy, no matter how difficult their family’s economic circumstances.

The Albuquerque Marine Toys for Tots program distributes donated new toys as gifts to less fortunate kids in Albuquerque – and a fine job they do of it. They’re kind of like our home-grown Santas!

Of course everything depends on us making donations, so feel free to take new and unwrapped gifts for a child, boy or girl, to the many local collection points through December 9, 2011.
Here’s the list of Albuquerque Marine Toys for Tots drop-off points, which conveniently include several Toys R Us locations.

And I’m interrupting this broadcast to announce that I have a new baby :-) in my extended family – welcome to the world Nancy Jean!  I haven’t met her yet (although I patted Mom’s tummy when baby was just a pea in the pod) and I probably see her won’t for a while as she so far away… but I’m psyched at seeing her photos! She was born in England this week and her very brave mom went through quite a tough labor. So as this is a post about kids, here’s where I’m showing off my new auntie status!

OK, back to business!

On Saturday December 10, 2011, the Aveda Institute New Mexico will hold a Toys for Tots Cut-a-Thon from 9 am – 7 pm. Take in a new toy donation for Toys for Tots and get a free haircut!

Aveda Institute New Mexico is located at 1816 Central Avenue SW in Old Town.

Thrift Town Earth Week Sale

Comments Off on Thrift Town Earth Week Sale

The Thrift Town Earth Week sale is definitely beckoning to me. I’ve been spring cleaning my kitchen and decided I could do with some new (to me) kitchen appliances – I’d really like an ice cream maker this summer. Plus I’ve barely got a glass left to drink from, seeing as how Mr Cheap is so very enthusiastic when he does the dishes. Last time I was in Thrift Town I picked up some very cute colored glass tumblers, only one of which remains intact.  Why buy new when I can buy used at a fraction of the price, and recycle perfectly good items to a new home?

The Thrift Town Earth Week Sale  from Monday April 18 to April 22, 2011, gives 30- 50% discounts on different items every day.

  • Monday April 18:  Get 30% off the houseware department and bin items – that’s bedding, towels, dishes, pans, hats, scarves, purses and more!
  • Tuesday April 19:  Get 50% off women’s clothes, and 30% off jewelry and cosmetics
  • Wednesday April 20:  Get 50% off men’s clothes, and 30% off electrical and hardware
  • Thursday April 21:  Get 50% off shoes
  • Friday April 22  Get 50% off children’s and baby clothes, and 30% off toys, books, movies and music.

As usual with Thrift Town promotions, gift cards and color tag items that are already discounted by 50% are not included in the Thrift Town Earth Week Sale .

Pick up a Thrift Town Super Shopper card while you’re in there. You get a stamp for every $10 you spend, and once the card is full with 20 stamps, you earn $10 off your next $20+ purchase.

The Thrift Town Albuquerque store is at 3900 Menaul Blvd NE.

Zumba-Thon: December 4

Comments Off on Zumba-Thon: December 4

Salsa up for a good cause to the Zumba-thon in Old Town on Saturday December 4, 2010. Zumba is Latin-inspired dance fitness to salsa and meringue beats, and you can try it free at the Zumba-thon, the only ‘cost’ of participating is to bring a new (unwrapped) toy to donate to Toys for Tots.

All the Zumba-thon action happens in the Gazebo in Old Town Plaza, starting at 3 pm. A DJ provides the music, and instructors will lead the Zumba party.

The event is organized by DeNova Hair Beauty & M’lis Boutique and between Zumba sessions there will be a fashion show featuring clothing from the boutique (yes it’s for sale) plus expect door prizes from DeNova!  (I see DeNova also has a 10% off promotion on any any M’lis service or product over $70, including body wraps and facials.)

The Zumba-thon takes place from 3-5 pm, although we understand that the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive will continue through 7 pm.

The Albuquerque Marine Toys for Tots program distributes the toys as gifts to underprivileged kids in Albuquerque – and a fine job they do of it. They’re kind of like our home-grown Santas! Of course everything depends on us making donations, so feel free to take new and unwrapped gifts for any age child, boy or girl, to the collection points through December 10. Here’s the list of Albuquerque Marine Toys for Tots drop-off points.

And here’s info on how to request toys for your children or for somebody else – apply before December 11.
