Comments Off on Disney’s The Lion King Cheap Tickets for Students

Disney’s The Lion King is currently on stage in Albuquerque at Popejoy Hall, and students can get cheap tickets if they join the rush!

The Lion King plays at Popejoy Hall until October 28, and although regular tickets range in price from $52.50 to $152.50, students can get tickets for $27.50 during The Lion King student rush on selected performances.

The student rush tickets are available one hour before curtain time, for the evening performances on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.  You need to take Student ID to prove your eligibility – that includes students at UNM and CNM, Albuquerque Public Schools and Rio Rancho Public Schools, and indeed all students with ID from anywhere!

The student rush tickets are NOT available for Friday evening shows, all day Saturday, or the Sunday matinees.

See The Lion King performance times here, and be at the Popejoy Hall Box Office at the entrance to Popejoy Hall one hour prior to curtain. (I’d turn up earlier, there could be a line!) Take valid student ID, and each student can only buy one ticket.

The Tony Award-winning Broadway show features Elton John and Tim Rice’s familiar score, including the Oscar-winning song Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Circle of Life.

Hope some students feel the love by snagging some discount tickets, and have a roaring good time at The Lion King!

Thanks to Suzanne for tipping us off about the student rush tickets!

New Mexico State Fair: Free Admission September 19

Comments Off on New Mexico State Fair: Free Admission September 19

The 2012 New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque continues until September 23 and in case you’re one of the seven people who haven’t heard, State Fair admission is free to everyone, all day on Wednesday September 19.

As an aside: Kudos to Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz who so firmly put an end to the driver who barrelled into the State Fair Parade on Saturday. Mr Cheap and I were standing right by when the driver zoomed at a dangerous speed past us, and all too close to families and kids watching the parade and gathering candy along the roadside. Then the Chief rode up on his Segway like a modern day cowboy, blowing his whistle fit to bust, and stopped the driver in his tracks. It’s amazing more people weren’t hurt. Other than that, it was a great parade!

So back to the State Fair. Regular admission for the NM State Fair is slightly higher this year, at $10 for adults, $7 for seniors (aged 62+), and $7 for children aged 6 to 12. Children aged 5 and under still get in free

The good news is that it’s free parking at the State Fair Grounds this year. As parking was $7 last year (or $5 – 10 in parking lots near the grounds) at least you’ll save cash when you’re hitching your wagon!

The 2012 carnival daily ride wristbands for all-day unlimited rides costs $20 on Monday through Thursday (opening at noon), and $25 on Friday through Sunday (opening at 11 am). The exception is half-price ride day on Thursday September 20, when ride passes are $10.

You can see the New Mexico State Fair details and schedule of events at their website – although I don’t see the free admission on Wednesday September 19 announced there at time of writing.  But here are the deal details I know about for the remainder of this year’s Fair.

  • Wednesday Thursday 19: Free gate admission to all
  • Thursday September 20: Military & Veterans’ Day with free admission for uniformed and active military with ID and for veterans with ID.
  • Thursday September 20: Half-Price Ride Day with all-day ride pass wristbands for unlimited Midway rides at the half price of $10.
  • Find 24 Friends:  If you have a super-large family or an awful lot of people you’d like to go gnaw turkey legs with, a group of 25 or more gets a discount. Contact the box office for info:  (505) 222-9707.

Thanks to reader Carrie for dropping me a note about the free State Fair admission day. I had already heard about it, but I always appreciate your eyes and ears to pass on deals I might have missed to our readers!

The New Mexico State Fair is held at Albuquerque’s EXPO New Mexico State Fair Grounds. Enter via Gate 1 (Central Avenue) or Gate 8 (Louisiana west of Lomas) as Gate 9 is closed this year. Parking is free at either Gate 1 or Gate 8.

$12.50 for $25 Movie Gift Card

September 8, 2012 by

Comments Off on $12.50 for $25 Movie Gift Card

Save 50% on a trip to the movies! This $12.50 for a $25 Regal Entertainment Group Gift Card can be used on both admission tickets and concession purchases at Regal and UA cinemas. (If a box appears asking for your email address and you only want to see the deal first, not sign up, just click the screen outside the box and it goes away! And if you are asked to select a city in the ordering process, select National, as this is a national deal.)

The movie gift card offer via Saveology is for first-time Saveology customers only. They ran this deal a few weeks ago and it sold out, but now they’ve added new inventory. The gift card doesn’t expire and is valid at any Regal, United Artist, or Edwards theater nationally.

In Albuquerque, the Regal/UA cinemas are:

  • UA Cottonwood
  • UA Winrock
  • UA High Ridge
  • UA Four Hills
  • There are also two locations in Santa Fe.

The deal rules say that the entire value of the card must be used in one visit. So it’s a better bargain if you’re taking friends or family than if you’re going on your own…unless you plan to eat one heck of a lot of popcorn. The card can be used to pay for tickets, and for concession purchases.

The $12.50 for a $25 Regal cinemas gift card deal is for first-time Saveology customers only, and it’s only available for a limited time, or until supplies sell-out.

Either use the cinema gift card yourself, or give it as a gift, and make sure you read the deal fine print for all the details on redeeming the offer.

NM State Fair Rodeo-Concerts and Free Fair Admission

August 27, 2012 by

Comments Off on NM State Fair Rodeo-Concerts and Free Fair Admission

New Mexico State Fair is just around the corner, from September 12 to 23, 2012, with the NM State Fair Parade (my favorite part of the whole affair!) on Saturday September 15.

But I’m here to tell you that if you’re buying tickets for the NM State Fair Rodeo-Concerts, grab them now!  Rodeo-Concerts tickets purchased by August 31 include free admission to the State Fair too, valid for the day of the concert.  That saves you $10 on the regular adult admission. State Fair admission for seniors (62+) and kids aged 6-12 will be $7 in 2012.

The Rodeo-Concerts at Tingley Coliseum combine the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association sanctioned rodeo with a different music concert each night. Ticket prices are $19, $28 or $39, depending on the seats.  That’s already a good deal for the evening’s entertainment. Throw in free State Fair admission and it’s even more likely to please the cowboys (and gals)!

The Rodeo-Concerts mainly start at 7 pm and performers this year are:

  • Poco/Firefall on September 18
  • Marty Stuart on September 19
  • Jake Owen on September 20
  • Eddie Money on September 21
  • Jerrod Niemann on September 22
  • Michael Jackson Tribute Laser Spectacular on September 23 – this one starts at 2 pm.

Buy New Mexico State Fair Rodeo-Concert tickets from the EXPO New Mexico box office or from Ticketmaster through August 31 to get free gate admission to the NM State Fair too. (This TicketMaster link takes you directly to all shows at Tingley Coliseum, including the NM State Fair PRCA Rodeo concerts.) After that, you’re paying your own way into the State Fair!

Four Movie Tickets = $24

April 27, 2012 by
Filed under Half Off Deals, Movies

Comments Off on Four Movie Tickets = $24

For $24 get 4 movie tickets worth up to $12 each, in a deal today only. That’s $6 per ticket for Regal and United Artist cinemas.  It could make a good gift, too!

Get the deal via Half Off Depot, available only today, Friday April 27, or until the offer runs out – sometimes these movie ticket deals have a cap on the quantities available.  Once you’ve got the tickets they don’t expire, and can be redeemed at any Regal, United Artist, or Edwards theater nationally. In Albuquerque, the Regal/UA cinemas are:

  • UA Cottonwood
  • UA Winrock
  • UA High Ridge
  • UA Four Hills
  • There are also two locations in Santa Fe.

The four tickets are good for the movie of your choice up to a value of $12 each. The offer excludes 3-D and IMAX movies, and the first 12 days of “selected” new release films, although in that case, you can pay a $1.50 upgrade fee at the box office.

Check all the $24 for four movie tickets promo fine print to make sure it’s a good deal for you, but the main details are:

  • Purchase today, April 27, 2012, or as long as supplies last.
  • They’ll send an email with a code, and you enter that code at the deal redemption website within 30 days, confirming your shipping address.
  • Tickets are mailed to that address in 7-10 days.
  • Once you’ve received them, the tickets do not expire. Use them yourself or give them as gifts.

With all the summer blockbuster movies heading our way, let’s hope this helps save a little on movie tickets… to spend on popcorn instead!

Southwestern Muscle Car Nationals $2 Discount Coupon

March 27, 2012 by

Comments Off on Southwestern Muscle Car Nationals $2 Discount Coupon

Save on admission to the Southwestern Muscle Car Nationals in Albuquerque from March 30 to April 1, 2012.

Regular admission to the Southwestern Muscle Car Nationals 2012 at Expo New Mexico is $12 for adults, but you can print out a Racing Southwest coupon to get $2 off!

They say it’s for Facebook friends, but I can’t see that Facebook has anything to do with it; the coupon is right there at the Racing Southwest website – click the car coupon/photo to get it, or if you’re having trouble with that, go direct to the Southwestern Muscle Car Nationals ticket discount coupon here.

You might also be able to get the advance ticket deal from NAPA Auto Parts stores I mentioned earlier this month, although I notice they’ve changed the discount from $3 off to $2 off since then. So the coupon deal is just as good, and NAPA may have run out of advance tickets by now. But, some people don’t like printing coupons, so if tickets remain, the offer is$2 off advance tickets to  Southwestern Muscle Car, at NAPA locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Belen, Santa Fe, and Edgewood.

The admission price for children aged 9 to 12 years is $3. However it looks like you can also get free tickets for children from Wendy’s – so just check it out when you’re in there.

Show admission is free for kids aged 8 and under with a paying adult.

I love seeing these amazing cars – although I’d be terrified to drive one. I’ve never had a driving accident or scrape in my life (touch wood) but you know I’m just going to reverse into a lamp post in one of these beauties and ruin the gleaming paintwork.

Southwestern Muscle Car Nationals takes place at Expo New Mexico from Friday March 30 to Sunday April 1, 2012. Hours are:

  • Friday March 30:  5 pm – 10 pm.
  • Saturday March 31: 10 am to 10 pm
  • Sunday April 1:  10 am to 6 pm

VIP tickets with admission an hour earlier ($35 in advance) and non-sampling tickets for the designated drivers ($10) are also available, but sorry, there’s no discount on those.

Albuquerque Blues and Brews Festival is a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
