Bookworks is throwing a special event for educators, with 25% off purchases.

Teachers turning up for the Bookworks Teacher Appreciation Party on Monday October 15, 2012, can expect a little more than an apple! The event starts at 4 pm, with a 25% discount for educators on all purchases from 4 pm onwards. That’s not just a discount on books, but on cards, mugs, soaps, and the other gift items on sale at Bookworks. (I can spend hours in there. And I often do.)

Other out-of-the-classroom activities include a 6 pm appearance by Stephen McCranie, the author of the Mal and Chad series of graphic novels, to give a talk and sign books. Expect a mini yoga clinic, chocolate tasting (yum! I always like chocolate after my yoga, or even during my yoga) and refreshments and prize drawings.

Yay to Bookworks for offering an event to celebrate teachers, because by golly I don’t know where I would be without some wonderful teachers who helped me when I was a mere lass. Hard to imagine I was ever a mere lass, but I promise it’s true.

Bookworks is an independent bookstore, located at 4022 Rio Grande Blvd NW, next to Flying Star Cafe.

Comments Off on The Limited 50% Off Dresses & Jewelry Flash Sale: August 29

50% off The Limited dresses and jewelry sale today from 5 pm with the promo code or in stores!

Well ladies, they say you can never be too rich or too thin. Personally I think you can never have too much Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in the freezer, but that’s probably why I’ll never manage the ‘too thin’ part. (I’ve long ago given up hope of being too rich.) Also, I reckon you can never have too many frocks or too much BLING,
I mean tasteful jewelry, so today’s 50% off deal at The Limited grabbed my glittering eye.

Today, Wednesday August 29 from 5 pm only, The Limited’s Fashion Frenzy sale gives 50% off all dresses and jewelry either in store, or shopping online at The Limited using the promo code: FRENZY

The info came by email from The Limited so I don’t have a link for you, just shop in store from 5 pm till closing, or online with the promo code FRENZY from 5 pm to midnight.  (If you’re one of our readers from outside New Mexico and on a different time zone, those times from 5 pm are valid for your local time wherever you are.)

The 50% discount is on the original ticket prices only, and is not valid on markdowns.

Finally, here’s a reminder that The Limited offers a teacher and student 15% discount every day in stores. You need to take your student or educator ID and the 15% off is only good in shops, not online.

The Limited in Albuquerque is located in the Cottonwood Mall.

Comments Off on UNM and CNM Free Bus Passes

College students are always trying to find ways to save money, so it’s good news to hear that the Albuquerque Free Bus Pass program by ABQ Ride continues for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Students, faculty, and staff of University of New Mexico and the University of New Mexico Hospital, and students at Central New Mexico Community College can ride Albuquerque buses absolutely free.

Free bus passes are available to any qualifying students or faculty, but you must get a sticker on your student or staff ID to take advantage of the freebie.

UNM and CNM students qualify for the free sticker if you are currently enrolled at either of the schools. Be prepared to prove that you are a current student by taking your student ID and a copy of your current class schedule when you pick up your sticker.

Find full information on the passes and where, when, and how to collect them for:

Stickers for the last (2011-2012) academic year are only valid until August 31 for UNM and until September 3 for CNM, so if you plan on using ABQ Ride services, make sure you pick up the new one.

The bus passes work on all Albuquerque public buses including the Rapid Ride, but may not be valid for special city events. Even if you don’t use public transportation often, it never hurts to be prepared with a free bus pass in your pocket!

Comments Off on 15% off for Students & Teachers at The Limited

Educators and students receive a 15% discount at The Limited women’s fashion store.

The discount for teachers and students is valid on purchases made in stores. They don’t exactly shout about it, it’s hidden away in the Frequently Asked Questions on their website under The Limited Promotions, so you have to know to ask for it. Now you know, so ask for it!

You need to take your student or educator ID and the 15% off is only good in stores, not online. It also can’t be combined with other coupons. There’s no expiry date – this is an ongoing promotion.

Balloon Fiesta Free Breakfast Event for Teachers

Comments Off on Balloon Fiesta Free Breakfast Event for Teachers

Free Balloon Museum breakfast for teachers and home schoolers on October 7, 2011, and watch the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Special Shapes Rodeo balloon ascension! RSVP needed…. and you can bring family members at regular Balloon Museum admission prices.

The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is hosting a free Teacher Appreciation Breakfast on the morning of Friday October 7, open to public, charter, private and home school teachers in the greater Albuquerque area.

The event for teachers is free at the Balloon Museum, and as it takes place during Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, you can sit in the museum and watch the Special Shapes Rodeo for free!  (My own fave event during the entire fiesta.) You get a free breakfast burrito, plus a free parking pass, free Balloon Museum admission, and a workshop. (Last year it was a workshop on making a paper balloon to fly. Not sure what it’ll be this year.)

Space is limited, so you need to reserve a place for the Balloon Museum Teacher Appreciation Breakfast. If you want to bring family, they can come if they pay the usual Balloon Museum admission on the day. (That’s $3 adults, $2 seniors 65+, and $1 children, free for kids aged 3 and under.) They have to buy their own food though! See the info at the link.

Don’t wait to reserve, this event could fill fast. Note that you don’t get actual admission to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, just to the Balloon Museum, overlooking the launch field.

  • When: Friday October 7, 2011
  • Time: 6 – 9 am
  • Where: Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum
  • Price: Free for teachers but register for the free breakfast event!

What a great perk for Albuquerque teachers – an insider free seat at the 2011 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! And of course teachers deserve it… there’s a lot of teacher love around in this back-to-school month.

Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is located at 9201 Balloon Museum NE.

50% Off Reflexology: $20 in September

September 16, 2011 by
Filed under Half Off Deals, Services, Spas & Health

Comments Off on 50% Off Reflexology: $20 in September

Back to School special for teachers, or any ABQ on the Cheap reader who mentions this reflexology deal! If you missed our first mention of this special offer at the beginning of the month, here’s a reminder that you’ve still got a couple of weeks to get 50% off reflexology.

Certified Reflexologist Jill Sanders has been thinking about the “hard working Albuquerque teachers with no pay raise in three years.” So she’s offering a half price reflexology deal for teachers, but says anyone who mentions ABQ on the Cheap when booking can get the deal too!

Mention this Albuquerque on the Cheap offer and pay $20 for a 30 minute foot or hand reflexology session at
Step Into Wellness Reflexology with Jill Sanders during September.  That’s 50% off the regular rate of $40 for 30 minutes.

The $20 offer is valid through September 30, 2011. Make an appointment in advance with Jill by calling
(505) 417-1194 and mention ABQ on the Cheap.

I notice that Step Into Wellness Reflexology also offers treatments by donation on Thankful Thursdays.

Jill seems like an all-round good egg to offer these very affordable reflexology deals, and it warms the soul. (Or should I say – warms the sole?)

Step Into Wellness Reflexology is located at 1400 Carlisle Boulevard NE, at Constitution.
