Taste of Rio Rancho plus a New Mexico Mustangs hockey game sounds like a mighty fine way to spend $5!

Tickets for Taste of Rio Rancho followed by a Mustangs game on January 21 at the Santa Ana Star Center are just $5.  For that you get free food samples from Rio Rancho restaurants including Venezia’s Pizzeria, Dion’s Pizza, Dairy Queen, Pizza 9, Tao’s Chinese Bistro, Turtle Mountain Brewery, and quite a few more – 16 restaurants in total. They’re promising El Mezquite Market’s mini tacos too!

Taste of Rio Rancho at 5 pm is followed by a New Mexico Mustangs vs. Odessa Jackalopes game at 7:30 pm. The $5 ticket covers both the food and the fun of the game, which seems a very good way to stretch your five bucks for an evening’s entertainment. Do you have bored teenagers on your hands every day after school? If they’re not coming straight home and doing their homework, at least you can keep them from vegetating in front of the PlayStation until you get home.

Alamosa Community Center in southwest Albuquerque offers free basketball for teens age 13 and up every afternoon. They can blow off some steam and improve their cardiovascular fitness (but don’t tell them that part or they won’t want to go!). Plus, the community center is a safe, supervised environment.

WHAT: Free basketball for teens age 13 and up
WHEN: Mon/Weds/Fri from 3:30 – 6:30pm and Tue/Thu from 3:30 – 5:00pm
WHERE: Alamosa Community Center, 6900 Gonzales Rd SW, near Coors and Bridge
