New Mexico Restaurant Week 2013

February 13, 2013 by
Filed under Lodging, Restaurants & Bars, Weekend & Day Trips

Comments Off on New Mexico Restaurant Week 2013

New Mexico Restaurant Week 2013 offering savings at fave restaurants in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. Don’t be confused by the name though, as the Restaurant Week promotion actually runs over three weeks from February 24 to March 17. Who says we can’t count in New Mexico? Hmm, we may not count so well, but we eat FABULOUSLY, especially when it’s on the cheap!

The 2013 New Mexico Restaurant Week promotion offers multi-course menus for a flat rate, with several options in each course, including vegetarian choices at some restaurants.  Dinners are usually three courses, and some restaurants offer lunch menus too. Depending on the restaurant, dinners are priced at $20, $30, or $40 per person, and some restaurants will offer a super-bargain meal at $25 for two people.

It’s a great opportunity to eat out at some places you haven’t tried before, and the fixed price menus are especially good value at the more upscale places, compared to their regular à la carte menus. Reservations are heartily recommended where possible.  Participating hotels in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Taos are also offering special rates during Restaurant Week.

NM Restaurant Week 2013 runs in a different city each week.

Santa Fe Restaurant Week is from February 24 to March 3. Participating Santa Fe restaurants include Restaurant Martin (one of my favorites), The Compound, Geronimo, Anasazi Restaurant, Jambo Cafe, Blue Corn Cafe, the always lively Cowgirl BBQ, and both Plaza Cafe locations.

Taos Restaurant Week is from March 3 to March 10. Choices include El Meze, where Chef Fred Muller can be relied upon to serve up the sublime; Doc Martin’s Restaurant in the Taos Inn (I’m pleased to see their delish Chile Relleno is on the menu); El Monte Sagrado Resort and Spa, and The Gorge Bar & Grill, which is owned by the same folk who run Seasons/Zinc/Savoy in Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Restaurant Week is from March 10 to March 17. They’re saving the best till last, huh? Some of my fave participating restaurants include Artichoke Cafe, Scalo, Lucia at Hotel Andaluz, Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro, Gold Street Caffe, Sandiago’s Mexican Grill at the Tramway and High Finance at the very t-o-p of the Tramway, and both locations of Jinja Bar & Bistro.

Other restaurants are still joining the party, so no doubt there will be more options for dining on the cheap nearer the time. Some foodie and cooking events are also planned, although right now they are only listing Santa Fe cooking events, and I wouldn’t call them bargain basement, although they look like fun experiences.

For example, How to Make Gnocchi Like an Italian Grandmother (Feb 24) and How to Make Fresh Pasta (Feb 26), both at Terra Restaurant at the Four Seasons Rancho Encantado resort, and The Art of Making Empanadas at Anasazi Restaurant (Feb 26). These Santa Fe events all cost $20. I’m sorely tempted by the Sake Seminar and Tasting at Shohko Cafe on February 26, with admission at $18 and if you stay for dinner you get $5 off a bottle or a demi of sake.

Online reservations are required for events as tickets are limited. Find out more at the New Mexico Restaurant Week website.

Comments Off on Burger King BOGO Free Whopper

Free WHOPPER Sandwich purchase of WHOPPER Sandwich I’ve just spotted this Burger King BOGO Free Whopper Coupon, which may be part of the Burger King celebration of 55 years of the Whopper sandwich.

The BK coupon via Coupons.com gives you a free Whopper sandwich when you buy another Whopper sandwich. Quantities may be limited, they often have a cap for these coupons, so grab yours sooner rather than later. I haven’t had chance to print it myself yet, but I believe the printable coupon is valid until at least March, 2013. So you don’t have to use it at once, just make sure you have it if you want it.

Don’t forget that the Chili’s coupons in their holiday promotion continue until December 24, for a different special offer each day such as kids eat free or a free appetizer or dessert when you buy an entree. Each coupon is only valid on the day of the offer.  Find today’s Chili’s Grill & Bar Holidaily coupon.

This Chili’s Coupon for Free Skillet Queso and Chips with the purchase of an entree is available any day of the week, when you sign up for the Chili’s email club with special offers.

While I’m talking coupons, this Famous Footwear coupon offers Buy One, Get One 1/2 Off plus an extra 20% off your entire purchase, as a “Score a Holiday Shopping Victory” promotion. Nice one! Famous Footwear in Albuquerque is located in Montgomery Plaza, and at Cottonwood Mall.

Free Restaurant Certificates to Give as Gifts

Comments Off on Free Restaurant Certificates to Give as Gifts

I mentioned this freebie before, but in case you missed it, here’s a reminder of how to Feed it Forward and give friends and family free $10 restaurant certificates until January 1, 2013.

Free restaurant certificates to give as gifts? What a great idea to spread a little seasonal cheer! Through January 1,  you can send free $10 Restaurant.com certificates to your friends. This is part of their Feed It Forward promotion – scroll down at the link to the Feed It Forward info.

You can give one gift to each person during the Restaurant.com Feed it Forward promotion, and they send the certificate via email. Friends and family choose from thousands of participating restaurants nationally to redeem their certificate. Note that there is usually a minimum spend in restaurants, so your recipient will have to top up a little, but they’ll still get $10 off their check.

You can pretty much send as many free $10 restaurant.com certificates you like as there’s a maximum of 100 per sender per day. Even our most popular reader would surely struggle to find THAT many friends to send to.  The promo ends on January 1, or when the money runs out. They have a maximum of $40 million worth of free restaurant certificates to give away – that’s a lotta free food, people!

If you want to actually buy Restaurant.com already discounted dining certificates for yourself or others, prices are typically $4 for a $10 certificate, $10 for a $25 certificate, or $20 for a $50 certificate, and other denominations are available. But they often offer a promo code for a further discount if you add the code at checkout. If there’s a current promo code available you can see it in this image below that automatically updates:

Restaurant.com Weekly Promo Offer 468 x 60

Albuquerque restaurants in the program include:
Red Brick Pizza, Cheese and Coffee Cafe Downtown, True Sushi, Forque Kitchen and Bar, Bandido Hideout, Coolwater Fusion Restaurant, Sophia’s Place, Ezra’s Place, Saffron Tiger, Olympia Cafe, and other Restaurant.com venues High Noon, Brasserie La Provence, Amici, Yasmine’s Cafe, and many more.

Check individual restaurants for deal terms (eg minimum spend) to make sure they’re a good deal for you before tucking your napkin under your chin

Sonic Half Price Shakes on Solstice / Mayan Apocalpyse

December 19, 2012 by
Filed under Food, Half Off Deals, Restaurants & Bars

Comments Off on Sonic Half Price Shakes on Solstice / Mayan Apocalpyse

Sonic’s half price shakes promotion on December 21, 2012, is in honor of the winter solstice, but for anyone shaking in their boots because of the Mayan calendar 2012 apocalypse prophecies, it might be a sweet distraction while we wait to see how it all shakes out…

Get half price shakes at Sonic all day on Friday December 21, 2012, to celebrate the shortest day of the year at participating locations. No coupon is needed, but you need to mention the offer when ordering. Drive by and enjoy the real ice cream shakes on the cheap, in flavors including Chocolate Holiday Mint Shake. That doesn’t sound like the end of the world to me.

And don’t forget the ongoing offer for Sonic Drinks Happy Hour daily from 2- 4 pm, good on Slushes (except CreamSlush Treats), soft drinks like Coke, Sprite, and Dr Pepper, ice teas, and limeades, but usually not valid with combos and Wacky Pack meals.

Although I’m joking about Friday, if you’re concerned about the Mayan calendar prophecy you might be reassured by reading this NASA press release that they’ve issued in advance, dated December 22, 2012:  Why the world didn’t end yesterday.

If you know of any Mayan calendar apocalpyse special deals or events on Friday – or maybe there’s one running at a place where you work – now is not the time to keep it to yourself. Let us know in the comment box below!

Thanks to our prophetic pal Carolyn at Wichita on the Cheap for tipping us off that the Sonic deal is nigh.

PF Changs 20% Off: October 16

Comments Off on PF Changs 20% Off: October 16

Save 20% on P.F. Chang’s China Bistro online orders for collection on Tuesday October 16, 2012.

I hesitate to say this is to celebrate the second Presidential Debate on Tuesday, but it’s certainly timed to coincide with it. We hope all parties can agree that PF Chang’s offer is good for the (household) economy…

Get a 20% discount at P.F. Chang’s for online orders to be collected on Tuesday October 16 only, using one of these promo codes. Enter either promo code: RED or promo code BLUE

Place your P.F. Chang’s order online at their website. There’s no debate about that – the tiny type in the offer says the 20% off promo code must be used for online orders, it  won’t be accepted in restaurants.  I don’t have a link for you yet, but I’ve tested the code and I know it works for October 16 collections. I’ll update with a link to the official announcement later, in case you don’t take my word for it. Why wouldn’t you take my word for it? I’m NOT a politician… :-)

The deal is at participating restaurants, and that includes P.F. Chang’s in Albuquerque, located at The Shops @ 25, 4440 The 25th Way, NE.
