Comments Off on Disney’s The Lion King Cheap Tickets for Students
Disney’s The Lion King is currently on stage in Albuquerque at Popejoy Hall, and students can get cheap tickets if they join the rush!
The Lion King plays at Popejoy Hall until October 28, and although regular tickets range in price from $52.50 to $152.50, students can get tickets for $27.50 during The Lion King student rush on selected performances.
The student rush tickets are available one hour before curtain time, for the evening performances on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. You need to take Student ID to prove your eligibility – that includes students at UNM and CNM, Albuquerque Public Schools and Rio Rancho Public Schools, and indeed all students with ID from anywhere!
The student rush tickets are NOT available for Friday evening shows, all day Saturday, or the Sunday matinees.
See The Lion King performance times here, and be at the Popejoy Hall Box Office at the entrance to Popejoy Hall one hour prior to curtain. (I’d turn up earlier, there could be a line!) Take valid student ID, and each student can only buy one ticket.
The Tony Award-winning Broadway show features Elton John and Tim Rice’s familiar score, including the Oscar-winning song Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Circle of Life.
Hope some students feel the love by snagging some discount tickets, and have a roaring good time at The Lion King!
Thanks to Suzanne for tipping us off about the student rush tickets!
Get discounted tickets for Spring Awakening at the Popejoy Hall on February 18 and 19 with the promo code….
The musical Spring Awakening comes to Albuquerque next week. It’s won eight (count ’em) eight Tony Awards, including for Best Musical, and Entertainment Weekly called it “the most gorgeous Broadway score this decade.”
Spring Awakening takes the audience on a vicarious journey from youth to adulthood, and according to the show description the “groundbreaking fusion of morality, sexuality, and rock & roll has awakened Broadway like no other musical of its time.”
The Albuquerque tour dates at the Popejoy Hall are February 18 and 19, 2011, at 8 pm.
Thanks to the nice Popejoy Hall peeps, ABQ on the Cheap readers can get nearly 40% off tickets using the promo code: albuquerque (all in lower case. Update: The code has changed since this morning, so if you tried upper case and it didn’t work, try again with lower case.)
The discount with that promo code means you get:
- $55 tickets for $34
- $45 tickets for $28
- $35 tickets for $22
Book Popejoy Hall tickets for Spring Awakening and enter this promo code all in lower case: albuquerque
The discount will show up when you go to your cart after ticket selection. Booking fees are extra.
Note that due to the show contents, including brief partial nudity, strong language, and themes of sexuality, Spring Awakening is for mature audiences only.
Could be a good excuse to leave the kids with a sitter and maybe make it a late Valentine’s Day treat for you and your beloved! And sorry, this is only for new ticket sales – you can’t apply the deal to any tickets you’ve bought already.
Comments Off on Wicked $25 Tickets in the Lottery
If you’re lucky in the lottery before each show, you might get $25 tickets to see Wicked at Popejoy Hall.
Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is the award-winning blockbuster Broadway musical showing at the Popejoy Hall. Wicked tickets have a price tag to match the show’s reputation, and many shows are already sold out, but you might get lucky and score a $25 ticket to Wicked for the remainder of the Albuquerque run.
The lottery of Wicked tickets for $25 each takes place two and a half hours before each performance. Turn up at the Popejoy Hall box office and put your name in for the lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats. Half an hour later they’ll draw the winners – if you get a $25 ticket you must pay cash, and there’s a limit of two tickets per person.
Note that the $25 tickets are for limited view seating, not premium seating. The lottery is running on all shows till the end of the run on Sunday February 13, 2011. That includes the sold out shows – according to the Popejoy person I just spoke with they’ve held back the lottery orchestra seats already. See all the
Wicked at the Popejoy Hall performance times.
Regular orchestra seats cost from $52.50 to $152.50 as far as I can see, so that’s a pretty good saving if you’re willing to throw your hat in the ring. I guess the odds of getting the discount tickets depends on how many people turn up!
Wicked is best for kids aged 8 upwards, and they don’t admit children under the age of 4.
Thanks to reader Barbara J. for sending us the tip!
