New Mexico Restaurant Week 2013

New Mexico Restaurant Week 2013 offering savings at fave restaurants in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. Don’t be confused by the name though, as the Restaurant Week promotion actually runs over three weeks from February 24 to March 17. Who says we can’t count in New Mexico? Hmm, we may not count so well, but we eat FABULOUSLY, especially when it’s on the cheap!

The 2013 New Mexico Restaurant Week promotion offers multi-course menus for a flat rate, with several options in each course, including vegetarian choices at some restaurants.  Dinners are usually three courses, and some restaurants offer lunch menus too. Depending on the restaurant, dinners are priced at $20, $30, or $40 per person, and some restaurants will offer a super-bargain meal at $25 for two people.

It’s a great opportunity to eat out at some places you haven’t tried before, and the fixed price menus are especially good value at the more upscale places, compared to their regular à la carte menus. Reservations are heartily recommended where possible.  Participating hotels in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Taos are also offering special rates during Restaurant Week.

NM Restaurant Week 2013 runs in a different city each week.

Santa Fe Restaurant Week is from February 24 to March 3. Participating Santa Fe restaurants include Restaurant Martin (one of my favorites), The Compound, Geronimo, Anasazi Restaurant, Jambo Cafe, Blue Corn Cafe, the always lively Cowgirl BBQ, and both Plaza Cafe locations.

Taos Restaurant Week is from March 3 to March 10. Choices include El Meze, where Chef Fred Muller can be relied upon to serve up the sublime; Doc Martin’s Restaurant in the Taos Inn (I’m pleased to see their delish Chile Relleno is on the menu); El Monte Sagrado Resort and Spa, and The Gorge Bar & Grill, which is owned by the same folk who run Seasons/Zinc/Savoy in Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Restaurant Week is from March 10 to March 17. They’re saving the best till last, huh? Some of my fave participating restaurants include Artichoke Cafe, Scalo, Lucia at Hotel Andaluz, Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro, Gold Street Caffe, Sandiago’s Mexican Grill at the Tramway and High Finance at the very t-o-p of the Tramway, and both locations of Jinja Bar & Bistro.

Other restaurants are still joining the party, so no doubt there will be more options for dining on the cheap nearer the time. Some foodie and cooking events are also planned, although right now they are only listing Santa Fe cooking events, and I wouldn’t call them bargain basement, although they look like fun experiences.

For example, How to Make Gnocchi Like an Italian Grandmother (Feb 24) and How to Make Fresh Pasta (Feb 26), both at Terra Restaurant at the Four Seasons Rancho Encantado resort, and The Art of Making Empanadas at Anasazi Restaurant (Feb 26). These Santa Fe events all cost $20. I’m sorely tempted by the Sake Seminar and Tasting at Shohko Cafe on February 26, with admission at $18 and if you stay for dinner you get $5 off a bottle or a demi of sake.

Online reservations are required for events as tickets are limited. Find out more at the New Mexico Restaurant Week website.

Albuquerque Restaurant Week

Comments Off on Albuquerque Restaurant Week

Albuquerque Restaurant Week offers fixed price menus so you can try some new restaurants or get a good deal at old favorites.

This year’s Albuquerque Restaurant Week is from March 18 – 25, 2012, and the promotion offers multi-course menus for a flat rate, with several options in each course. Dinners are usually three courses, and some restaurants have special price lunch menus too.

Some of my favorite participating restaurants include:

  • Artichoke Cafe ($35 dinner / $18 lunch)
  • Scalo ($22.50 lunch)
  • Pars Cuisine ($26 dinner including wine/tea/coffee and $13 lunch)
  • Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro ($34 dinner)
  • Jinja Bar & Bistro  both locations ($21 dinner / $13 lunch)
  • St Clair Winery & Bistro ($30 dinner including wine sample with each of three courses!)
  • Seasons Rotisserie & Grill ($30 dinner / $15 lunch)
  • Prairie Star Restaurant and Wine Bar ($29 dinner)
  • Sandiago’s Mexican Grill at the Tramway, which you’ve just got to love for the sunset views… and the $20 dinner menu. (Although when I last mentioned this, the listing at the ABQ Restaurant Week site said it was $20 per couple, not per person. So that was apparently a mistake as they’ve now changed it. Might have known it was too good to be true…)
  • High Finance at the top of the Tramway, which of course has even better views, with a $30 dinner menu.

See all the Albuquerque Restaurant Week offers, as part of this month’s New Mexico Restaurant week promotion. It’s probably best to make reservations where possible, because anyone with the remotest interest in food will belly up to take advantage of some of these restaurant deals.

New Mexico Restaurant Week

New Mexico Restaurant Week actually runs over four weeks in March – offering savings at fave restaurants in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. (Who says we can’t count in New Mexico? Hmm, we may not count so well, but we eat FABULOUSLY, especially when it’s on the cheap!)

The 2012 New Mexico Restaurant Week promotion offers multi-course menus for a flat rate, with several options in each course, including vegetarian choices at some restaurants.  Dinners are usually three courses, and those restaurants offering lunch vary between two or three courses.

It’s a great opportunity to eat out at some places you haven’t tried before, and the fixed price menus are especially good value at the more upscale places, compared to their regular a la carte menus. Reservations are heartily recommended where possible.

NM Restaurant Week 2012 runs in a different city each week.

Santa Fe Restaurant Week is from March 4 – 11. Participating Santa Fe restaurants include:

  • Vinaigrette ($25 dinner)
  • Vanessie of Santa Fe ($35 dinner)
  • Anasazi Restaurant ($30 dinner / $20 lunch)
  • Restaurant Martin is one of my favorites ($35 dinner / $20 lunch)
  • The Compound ($45 dinner)
  • Geronimo ($45 dinner)
  • Jambo Cafe ($19.95 dinner / $16.95 lunch)
  • The Palace Restaurant – another personal fave with excellent flavors by chef Joseph Wrede ($30 dinner)
  • Santacafe ($35 dinner includes a glass of Gruet fizz or sparkling cider plus tea or coffee)
  • Cowgirl BBQ ($19.95 dinner)

Albuquerque Restaurant Week is from March 18 – 25. Some of my fave participating restaurants include:

  • Pars Cuisine ($26 dinner including wine/tea/coffee and $13 lunch)
  • Artichoke Cafe ($35 dinner / $18 lunch)
  • Scalo ($22.50 lunch)
  • Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro ($34 dinner)
  • Jinja Bar & Bistro  both locations ($21 dinner / $13 lunch)
  • St Clair Winery & Bistro ($30 dinner including wine sample with each of three courses!)
  • Seasons Rotisserie & Grill ($30 dinner / $15 lunch)
  • Sandiago’s Mexican Grill at the Tramway, which you’ve just got to love for the sunset views… and the $20 PER COUPLE dinner menu!

I know more Albuquerque restaurants participated in Restaurant Week last year than I see in the list for 2012. Some heavy-hitters are sadly missing. But maybe they’ll come on board later. I’ll update nearer the time!

Taos Restaurant Week is from March 25 – April 1.  The knockout choice here among participating Taos restaurants so far is El Meze, where Chef Fred Muller can be relied on to serve up the sublime ($35 dinner).  I can’t see a menu price yet for The Gorge Bar & Grill, but it’s in a cool spot and it’s owned by the same folk who run Seasons/Zinc/Savoy in Albuquerque.

If you’re wondering about the missing week? That’s Las Cruces Restaurant Week from March 11 – 18, but there’s only one restaurant playing (Double Eagle) and it’s a bit out of the way for most of us anyhow.

The promo mentions New Mexico lodging deals and foodie events to coincide with these weeks, but right now most of the action is around Santa Fe and even they’re pretty vague on hotel deal details. Maybe we’ll get more on board for Albuquerque, and I’ll keep you posted of anything super-special. Meanwhile, if you’re interested, keep an eye on the details at the New Mexico Restaurant Week website.

There are also New Mexico lodging deals and hotel packages in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos, plus some special events including cookery demonstrations, tastings, seminars, and other foodie fun in the various cities at various prices.
