It’s Albuquerque’s first annual National Train Day event on Saturday May 7 at the Downtown Alvarado Transportation Center.  So what does National Train Day involve? Free strap-hanging? Wishing the gentleman sitting next to us would stop snoring on our shoulder? No indeedy! It looks like a lot of fun with tons of free activities and entertainment.

Albuquerque National Train Day takes place on May 7 from 1 pm to 5 pm and includes:

  • Displays from model train clubs.
  • Wheels Museum tour and Harvey House Museum display.
  • Kids’ corner with free arts and crafts.
  • Games, free raffles, and prizes.

And of course there will be food vendors too.

Albuquerque National Train Day takes place:

  • When:  Saturday May 7, 2011
  • Time:  1 – 5 pm
  • Where:  Downtown Alvarado Transportation Center
  • Price:  Free!

If you’re new in town or just not terribly observant, Alvarado Transportation Center is located on the corner of 1st Street SW and Central Avenue.

And if you’re traveling farther afield, National Train Day 2011 is celebrated at the Las Cruces Railroad Museum too, and across the country.
