If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to ABQ on the Cheap's RSS feed or email digests. Thanks for visiting!

Albuquerque restaurant deals… and it’s a bumper crop including steak deals at Outback Steakhouse and Vernon’s Hidden Valley Steakhouse, Chick-fil-A free breakfast, free tacos for kids, and deals at Panda Express, Village Inn, Pueblo Harvest Cafe, Buca di Beppo, Prairie Star, Sushi King, Bandido Hideout, Da Vinci’s, Nicky V’s, Cosmo Tapas, and more…

Outback Steakhouse $5 off two entrees, or $2.50 off one entree. The coupon is available until August 29, or while supplies last. If you nab one, the coupon will be emailed in 48 hours (be sure to confirm your email address), then it’s valid to October 27. At time of writing, there are coupons available at both the Albuquerque Outback Steakhouse locations at Jefferson NE and at Coors NW.  And yes, I KNOW it’s says Free Steak Dinner at the link, but they launched this free steak promotion in the evening, with a limited quantity available in each location, and they all went by the time I’d finished writing a post to tell y’all about free steak. So now it’s the $5 off Outback Steakhouse coupon instead, which isn’t to be sniffed at. Or is to be sniffed at, depending on your carnivorous inclinations.

Vernon’s Hidden Valley Steakhouse $20 for $40 worth of steak and seafood. Get some of that speakeasy vibe along with your steak, in the half price deal available today through Sunday via Groupon. The certificate is valid until February 29, 2012.

Pueblo Harvest Cafe tonight Friday August 26 from 6-9 pm. Live music on the patio by Los Radiators, plus $4 draft beers, $5 Margaritas, and $10 all you can eat appetizers (turkey wings, buffalo chicken wings, and various horno pizzas) at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center cafe. Their website is a bit annoying to navigate, but we’ve got this from a couple of sources so you might just have to take our word for it.

Free Tacos for kids at El Pinto.  Word from an El Pinto email that kids can munch down on free tacos on Saturday August 27 from 1-2 pm while Orbit from the Isotopes visits too. NO word on any minimum order needed, but I expect they’ll want parents to pay up for a meal!

LOVE Frozen Yogurt Bar anniversary celebrations on August 26-27 include a free photo booth. Get your pic taken and nab a free tote bag while supplies last at 5901 Wyoming Blvd NE.

Village Inn Coupon to get $5 off when you purchase two adult entrees and two beverages. Or use it for $2.50 off one adult entree and one drink. You can also get $2 off a whole pie with the coupon. Both valid to September 16, 2011.

Chick-fil-A Free Breakfast entree. From Monday August 29, reserve a free breakfast at the link, to be redeemed in the week of September 6 to 10, 2011. Hold your horses as it’s not a live offer yet, we’re just giving you the heads-up so you’re ready to score your free brekkie. And of course if you subscribe to ABQ on the Cheap, we’ll remind you on Monday!

Kids Eat Free at IHOP to August 31, 2011. Between 4pm and 10pm, a child aged 12 and under gets a free meal from the Just for Kids menu, with the purchase of an adult entree.  It’s one free kid’s meal per adult entree, on dine-in only, at participating locations.

Four Quiznos Coupons to celebrate Quiznos’ 30th Anniversary when you sign up for the (free) Quiznos email club QClub (via My Savings). Quiznos offers a limited quantity of these coupons, once a certain amount have been printed out, they remove them from the web. So if you’re interested, print sooner rather than later!

Panda Express Free Entree item with the purchase of a two or three entree plate, using the coupon until September 10, at participating locations.

Brasserie La Provence Cooking Class on September 13. Chef Claus cooks up a three course menu paired with fine wines. It’s $40 per person, with 36 seats available. Previous classes have been at 6:30 pm. Make reservations at (505) 254-7644.

Buca di Beppo $25 gift card for holiday party planners. Book a group lunch in December 2011 on Monday through Friday for minimum 20 people, and get a $25 Buca digital gift card for your own use on a later occasion. Deal conditions say that the lunch contract must be confirmed by September 30.

Taco Bell Nachos Supreme 99 Cents through August 27, no coupon needed, at participating locations. The limit is two per person, per visit.

Free Chili’s Appetizer when you join Chili’s email club. They send offers to email subscribers, and when you sign up (via MySavings) you can print out a coupon for a free Skillet Queso & Chips with the purchase of an entree.

Dinner & Wine for 2 for $60 at Prairie Star Restaurant on Wednesday evenings: Starter, entree, and dessert for two, plus a bottle of wine, all for $60 on Wednesdays only, at the Prairie Star Restaurant at the Santa Ana Golf Club. No coupon needed, but it’s probably wise to reserve a table.

Cowboy Barbecue Cookout: September 4

Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort and Spa’s cowboy cookout in Santa Fe looks like a wild west way to spend the Labor Day weekend. This is a real YeeeeeeeHa! cowboy cookout on a Santa Fe mesa top with live music and dancing, barbecue and all the fixin’s, and kids eat half price or free depending on age…

I’ve visited this resort, including a ride up to the mesa top where they hold the cowboy cookout, and it’s a sweet spot with mighty purty views – should be a good vantage point to admire the sunset while kicking up your heels.

The Bishop’s Lodge cowboy cookout on Sunday September 4 at 6 pm includes a full gourmet barbeque catered by the resort’s Las Fuentes Restaurant & Bar, with steaks, ribs, burgers, and brats, plus live country western music by the wonderful Bill Hearne. According to an email from Bishop’s Lodge, they’re taking people on free pony rides too, and youngsters are supplied with cowboy hats if they don’t have their own.

The price isn’t bad for dinner and entertainment: $39.95 per person, with discounts for seniors ($34.95), under 18′s ($19.95) and it’s free for kids under 5.

Spaces are limited and you need to reserve for the barbecue cookout in advance on (505) 819-4031.

Although Bishop’s Lodge is set is a quiet spot in the Tesuque Valley surrounded by Santa Fe National Forest, it’s only about a 5 minute drive from Santa Fe Plaza. (I’ve timed it!). Here’s the map and directions to Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort and Spa.

A limited time August 2011 special…. read on for when and how!

In the IHOP Kids Eat Free August promotion, a child aged 12 and under gets a free meal from the Just for Kids menu, with the purchase of an adult entree.  It’s one freebie per adult entree,  at participating locations.

The kids eat free offer is good every day in August between 4pm and 10pm on dine-in only.

The Just for Kids menu includes faves such as mac and cheese, the Rooty Jr., crispy chicken strips with fresh fruit, and (of course) lots of pancakes. Drinks aren’t included unless it’s specified on the Just for Kids menu that a drink is included.

They’re also giving kids a Spy Kids themed activity book, including back-to-school coupons, according to a press release.

Related to the IHOP Kids Eat Free promotion, you can enter an online Spy Kids sweepstakes (at the link) to win a family trip to meet Spy Kids writer and director Robert Rodriguez at Troublemaker Studio in Austin, Texas, plus other prizes. The Spy Kids Sweepstakes run through through September 31, 2011.

If you haven’t been to IHOP for a while, you might like to know that IHOP teamed with Kids LiveWell recently, a National Restaurant Association initiative to provide healthy menu choices for children. Many dishes on the Just for Kids menu feature fresh fruit as a substitute for fries (although the menu says you can also substitute the fries back in!), and dishes that meet the criteria for the Kids LiveWell program include grilled tilapia fish served with broccoli.

You can’t take advantage of the kids eat free deal if using any coupons or other discounts. The offer runs through August 31, 2011 at participating IHOP locations. Call ahead if you want to be sure!

Albuquerque restaurant deals, plus Mother’s Day offers and brunches, and other treats for moms if you’re looking for last minute ideas!

Boston Market Restaurants Free Family-Size Dessert when you buy any family meal, using the coupon on May 6 – 8 only. Check exclusions on the Boston Market Mother’s Day coupon at the link.

Einstein Bros. Bagels Free Travel Mug when you pre-order a bagel bucket at Einstein Bros. Bagels for pick up on May 7 or May 8.  The mother’s day deal excludes half-dozen, pick six, and baker’s dozen, and the free mug is while stocks last.

Denny’s Free Pancake Puppies Sundae If you’re on Facebook, send mom an e-card for Mother’s Day and they’ll also send her a Denny’s coupon for a free Pancake Puppies Sundae. A Facebook membership is required because you have to Like their page to get the coupon…

Mimi’s Cafe Free Ghirardelli Chocolate for Mom on Mother’s Day. Dine at Mimi’s Cafe after 4 pm on Sunday May 8, spend a minimum of $10 on a dinner entree for mom, and then she’ll get a free Ghirardelli milk and caramel chocolate bar, while supplies last.

Half-price Frappuccinos at Starbucks through May 15, during Frappuccino happy hour from 3 – 5 pm.

Sandiago’s at the Tram BOGO Free Entree Get one entree free when you buy one entree and two drinks, using the coupon via Premium Shopping Guide until May 31, 2011.  It’s not valid on Mother’s day though (darn it) but Sandiago’s Mexican Grill at the Tramway is one of my fave sunset-watching places even without a free entree incentive!

Entertainment Books $15 plus free shipping to May 9.  The price has dropped from $40 per book to $15 and the Albuquerque / Santa Fe Entertainment Book contains $11,800 worth of coupons for local restaurant, attractions, and entertainment, plus a bonus card worth up to $30 of discounts at TGI Friday’s, The Cooperage, Black Angus Steakhouse, Scarpa’s Brick Oven Pizza, etc. The Albuquerque / Santa Fe Entertainment Book with 2-for-1 coupons, discounts and some freebies, includes Scalo, Vivace, Brasserie La Provence, Artichoke Cafe, Fuddruckers, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Cazuela’s Mexican Grill, Golden Pride, Uptown Sports Bar & Grill, Gardunos… and many more.

Pizza Nine Coupons include:

  • Free 2 liter soda with any medium or large pizza purchase
  • Free dessert with any medium or large pizza purchase
  • $5 off any $20 purchase
  • Free medium pizza and two toppings when you buy a large specialty pizza (only for carry-out orders)

All Pizza Nine coupons expire May 31, one per person, and you can only use one at a time. You can’t combine all the above, otherwise they’d be paying YOU to eat there ;-)

Wine Tasting at Savoy Bar & Grill – Dalla Terra Wine Tasting on Saturday May 14 at 3 pm. Try a variety of Italian wines paired with “small bites” for $30 a head plus tax and tip. Places are limited – you need to make a reservation before they fill.

Albuquerque The Magazine Coupon Book I just got my Food and Wine May issue of Albuquerque The Magazine, with their annual restaurant coupons for 25% off Tim’s Place, 20% off Asian Noodle Bar, and BOGO 50% off at Chow’s Asian Bistro, Coolwater Fusion, Glazed Hams & More, Serafin’s Chile Hut, The Cube BBQ, as well as a bunch of  free food with purchase and other deals.

Most coupons are valid through April 2012, and I always use at least half the coupons over the year. So even though I was sorry to see the April Facebook issue of ATM go off the shelves (did you see my feature on The Like Button? I had such a great time interviewing local businesses for that) at least it was replaced by an issue that saves me money!

Häagen-Dazs Free Cone Day on May 10 from 4-8 pm. A free scoop of any flavor at Häagen-Dazs shops. The bummer is we don’t have one in Albuquerque but the Santa Fe Häagen-Dazs (56 East San Francisco St) and the Los Alamos location (800 Trinity Drive) are both participating. So this one’s for our northern readers or anyone heading up to the City Different or the Atomic City on May 10.

Albuquerque Mother’s Day Brunch

If you haven’t got your groove on for Mother’s Day yet, then here are a few places where you can TREAT that lady!

All seem reasonable deals for the locations, all on Sunday May 8, 2011. Tax and tip are extra, and reservations are recommended, and sometimes required:

Bien Shur at Sandia Resort Mother’s Day Brunch from 10 am – 3 pm costs $39.95 for adults and $14.95 for kids.

At Chili’s Grill & Bar, up to 2 kids eat free per accompanying adult today April 5, 2011 only. You need the coupon!

Just received note of the new Free Kids Meal at Chili’s Grill & Bar coupon at Chili’s Facebook page. The offer is only valid on Tuesday April 5, to get a free kid’s meal when you buy an adult entree. Even better – you can nab up to TWO children’s meals for each adult entree purchased, and use as many coupons per table as you like – as long as you have enough adults per table to qualify the deal.

The child must be aged 12 and under for the Chili’s Free Kids Meal coupon, and the one-day offer is only valid April 5, at participating locations. Although the coupon is on Chili’s Facebook page, you don’t have to ‘Like’ them or be a member of Facebook to see it.

Reminder that Kids eat free at IHOP all the way through April – see the details at our earlier post.

Thanks to Julie at Kansas City on the Cheap for the Chili’s tip!

Whole Foods Half Price Shrimp Today only, Friday November 12. Medium size cooked shrimp is $5.99 a pound in today’s shrimp sale (why does ‘today’s shrimp sale’ make me laugh?). Shrimp is usually $11.99 a pound so that’s $6 off and you can buy it thawed or frozen. Time to stock up the freezer?  Everyone else will probably be doing that so there’s a limit of 10 pounds per customer. Sale is at both the Albuquerque Whole Foods Market (Indian Plaza at 2103 Carlisle Blvd. NE & Academy store at 5815 Wyoming Blvd NE).

Two Free Tacos from Jack in the Box on Tuesday November 16 after 2 pm. No purchase needed and one freebie per person while supplies last at participating locations. Remember - the tacos giveaway is from 2 pm onwards!
