UPDATE: Find the latest news on Cliff’s Amusement Park deals for the remainder of the 2013 season at the link. The Cliff’s Amusement Park coupon mentioned in this post has now expired, and links are removed.

Cliff’s Amusement Park has a great summertime deal if you love waterslides, screaming children, and cotton candy. But then, who doesn’t? That’s why Cliff’s Amusement Park is one of Albuquerque’s favorite attractions. I know that ABQ on the Cheap readers LOVE Cliff’s Amusement Park discounts so here’s how to ride for half price this summer 2013.

Get a coupon for 50% off a Cliff’s Amusement Park ride pass on week days via our friends at KOAT-7 – use the Click to Print Coupon button on the left at the link. Or get the same Cliff’s discount coupon from 100.3 The Peak.  A ride pass includes admission, and unlimited rides all day.

Note that the Cliff’s discount coupon in the Half Price WeekDaze promotion is valid on week days only – Tuesday to Friday through August 9, 2013.  (The park is closed on Mondays.) You cannot use it on Saturday or Sunday. If you want to add WaterMania! on to the Ride Pass, it’s an extra $5.

It’s worth printing several, so if you use the half-off coupon every time you go, you can afford twice as much Cliff’s this summer!

The 50% off Cliff’s Amusement Park coupon is good for one ride pass and saves you about $13 per person on the regular $25.95 ride pass.

Let’s have a scream-fest in their honor, for making summer fun easier (and cheaper) in Albuquerque! It’s half-price fun for kids and all the family, and these days we need all the savings we can get!

The park is still fondly known by many Albuquerque locals as Uncle Cliff’s, even though they changed the name two decades ago. We were all very sad and sorry to hear when Uncle Cliff himself, Clifford Hammond, passed away earlier this year.  What a wonderful legacy he left us!

If you have any questions about the promotion, contact Cliff’s.  I don’t make the deals, I just pass the info on to you.

Cliff’s Amusement Park is located at 4800 Osuna Rd NE.
Here’s where you’ll find Cliff’s summer 2013 opening hours.

The Body Shop: $10 for $20 Worth in Stores or Online Shopping

April 30, 2013 by

Comments Off on The Body Shop: $10 for $20 Worth in Stores or Online Shopping

The Body Shop at half price? That smells good! Usually this Body Shop deal is only offered for purchases in store, but this one is valid for online shopping at The Body Shop website too. It’s a limited time deal, and you can buy extras for yourself or as gifts. (Hello? Mother’s Day is around the corner!)

Get $20 worth of Body Shop products for $10 at the link in this limited time deal. The last time they ran this popular offer I bought two and used them during a Body Shop promotion with two-for-one items, so I saved even more and stocked up on gifts.  Quantities are limited for the Groupon vouchers, and the offer is only available today and tomorrow, while supplies last. (Sometimes these national deals sell out early and they pull the offer.)

Then spend the vouchers by June 29, 2013, either in Body Shop stores or online at thebodyshop-usa.com.

Offer details:

  • Pay $10 for a certificate worth $20 to spend on body, bath, skincare, makeup, candles, and gifts (all products) in any Body Shop store nationwide on online. If you purchase more than $20 worth you just pay the difference – effectively you get $10 off.
  • The certificate is also valid to use with a Love Your Body Club discount.
  • Spend the certificates by June 29, 2013.
  • Limit 3 per person, and you can also give a certificate as a gift. Customers can only use 1 per visit. (Guess you have to take a coffee break while shopping and then return to spend another one. LOL! Having said that, the stores I’ve been to let me spend both mine in one visit without messing around.)

I love The Body Shop, and am addicted to its Body Butters. Especially the original mango body butter and also the satsuma – the fruity fragrances pep me up in the morning. I also like their Vitamin C moisturizer. Ok, while I’m pondering about what I’m going to buy with mine, you should be nabbing yours.

Albuquerque Body Shops are in the Coronado Center and the Cottonwood Mall.

Albuquerque Body Shops to redeem the deal are in the Coronado Center and the Cottonwood Mall.

I visited Anita Roddick’s first ever Body Shop in Brighton, England many years ago when I was a mere slip of a lass, and loved their stuff even then, long before the Body Shop was famous. Funny to find myself (mumble mumble) years later rushing to Coronado Center to stock up yet again!

Horseback Ride for Two with Refreshments: Half Price $70

Comments Off on Horseback Ride for Two with Refreshments: Half Price $70

Greet the spring like a cowboy with this half price horseback ride package for two adults with Romero’s Thunder. It’s a limited time deal available to purchase till February 19, then go for the getaway ride by June 6, 2013.

Cowboys and gals get a bit antsy this time of year to hit the wild west trails and giddy up little pony for some yeehaw fun. (Tell me about it. Mr Cheap is champing at the bit. But I think he just forgot to take his medication.)

If you fancy a ride on the wild and romantic side, getting 50% off horseback ride for two looks like a might fine deal. The offer is for adults aged 18+ only, and the two-hour Sandia Mountains ride tour includes a break on the way to enjoy some sparkling cider, cheese, crackers and fruit along with the view. If you haven’t ridden before, you get instruction before setting off.

The package costs $70 for two people, instead of the regular $150, and you’re taken on the ride by the experts at Romero’s Thunder stables.

Nab the Romero’s Thunder deal via Albuquerque Living Social until February 19, then you’ve got till June 6, 2013 to actually book your ride.

For an alternative to Date Night, or if you’d like a late Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetie to shower them with yet more love, this could make for a cute and romantic expedition together. It might be worth planning ahead too if you’ve got a birthday or anniversary to celebrate before June 6.

Sonic Half Price Shakes on Solstice / Mayan Apocalpyse

December 19, 2012 by

Comments Off on Sonic Half Price Shakes on Solstice / Mayan Apocalpyse

Sonic’s half price shakes promotion on December 21, 2012, is in honor of the winter solstice, but for anyone shaking in their boots because of the Mayan calendar 2012 apocalypse prophecies, it might be a sweet distraction while we wait to see how it all shakes out…

Get half price shakes at Sonic all day on Friday December 21, 2012, to celebrate the shortest day of the year at participating locations. No coupon is needed, but you need to mention the offer when ordering. Drive by and enjoy the real ice cream shakes on the cheap, in flavors including Chocolate Holiday Mint Shake. That doesn’t sound like the end of the world to me.

And don’t forget the ongoing offer for Sonic Drinks Happy Hour daily from 2- 4 pm, good on Slushes (except CreamSlush Treats), soft drinks like Coke, Sprite, and Dr Pepper, ice teas, and limeades, but usually not valid with combos and Wacky Pack meals.

Although I’m joking about Friday, if you’re concerned about the Mayan calendar prophecy you might be reassured by reading this NASA press release that they’ve issued in advance, dated December 22, 2012:  Why the world didn’t end yesterday.

If you know of any Mayan calendar apocalpyse special deals or events on Friday – or maybe there’s one running at a place where you work – now is not the time to keep it to yourself. Let us know in the comment box below!

Thanks to our prophetic pal Carolyn at Wichita on the Cheap for tipping us off that the Sonic deal is nigh.

Cliffs Amusement Park 50% Off Deal for 2013 (Limited time)

December 14, 2012 by
Filed under Attractions, Half Off Deals, Kids

If you’re already looking forward to Cliff’s Amusement Park opening up again in April 2013, the anticipation will be even sweeter if you save on some fun in this deal available for a limited time, while supplies last.

Get TWO Cliff’s Ride Passes for half price at the link, at $25 for the two passes worth $51.90.  A Ride Pass includes admission, and unlimited rides all day.

You can also add on a $25 Fun Card at half price. $37 gets you TWO Ride Passes plus the $25 Fun Card to spend on food and games and so on. That $37 package is worth $76.90.

Both Ride Passes in the offer via Groupon Albuquerque must be used in one visit by May 31, 2013. The deal info says they’re opening first weekend in April 2013. You can buy one pair of Ride Passes for yourself, and give another as a gift.

The Fun Card package really is exceptionally good value, because if you paid the regular $25 for the card alone, it means you’re getting the two Ride Passes for $6 each. (Do you follow my logic? If so, congratulations. Nobody else ever does, especially Mr Cheap.)

Quantities are limited on the Cliff’s Amusement Park deal. The deal is not available from Cliff’s, only from Groupon at the link. But… time IS limited and so is the quantity available – act fast before the offer is withdrawn.

WaterMania! is not included in a Ride Pass, but you can buy that optionally for an extra $5.

It’s slightly odd thinking about waterslides and amusement park thrills while it’s still winter. But ours is not to wonder why. Ours is just to pass on the deals, and we know ABQ on the Cheap readers LOVE Cliff’s Amusement Park discounts.

Cliff’s Amusement Park is located at 4800 Osuna Rd NE.

Thrift Town 50% Off Clothing Sale

November 29, 2012 by

Comments Off on Thrift Town 50% Off Clothing Sale

Score big savings on new-to-you clothes at Thrift Town on Friday November 30, at their 50% off clothing Holiday SaleHalf price gear as we go into party season sounds pretty good to me, or as an opportunity to find a few extra winter warmers.

I need to check in there to see if they have a blender, seeing as Thrift Town is always a good bet for kitchen equipment and Mr Cheap has just about decimated our old one, blending nuts by the look of it. Wingnuts rather than pistachios. OK, so it’s not clothing but it’s hard to go in there for just one item. I’m always distracted to buy some other treasure I find.

If you miss the Friday sale, don’t forget that every Monday night through December 17, 2012, from 6 – 9 pm, Thrift Town is offering 30% off clothing in their Monday Night Football Sale.

That’s adult clothing, kids’ clothing, women’s clothing, suits, skirts, jackets, coats, ties, you name it.

Both sales are for clothing only, and exclude gift cards and already-reduced Color Tag items.

And for a holiday gift (or just for your own savings if you shop there often) for every $20 worth of Thrift Town gift cards you buy, they’re handing out a set of bonus coupons for $20 of savings.  The offer is good till December 31, 2012, while supplies last.

Also note that Seniors aged 60+ get 30% off clothing at Thrift Town all day every Monday.  You can’t combine the senior discount with any other promo.

Pick up a Thrift Town Super Shopper card while you’re in the store. You get a stamp for every $10 you spend, and once the card is full with 20 stamps, you earn $10 off your next $20+ purchase.

The Thrift Town Albuquerque store is at 3900 Menaul Blvd NE.

A Christmas Carol Ticket Deal and Discount Theatre Offer

November 20, 2012 by

Comments Off on A Christmas Carol Ticket Deal and Discount Theatre Offer

Two productions of the festive classic A Christmas Carol are about to hit the stage in Albuquerque, and here’s how to get discount tickets to both. Plus you can save with a deal on Albuquerque Theatre Guild Theatre Lovers Community for the holiday season.

Duke City Repertory Theatre at The Filling Station presents A Christmas Carol from November 29 to December 16, and this A Christmas Carol ticket deal gives you two adult tickets for the price of one. For Thursday performances you get TWO adult tickets for $10 (usually $10 each) and Friday to Sunday it’s TWO adult tickets for $19 instead of the regular price of $20 each.

The production is based on the Charles Dickens story and adapted and performed by John Hardy. Yep, one guy plays more than 25 roles in the play. (Talk about “One man in his time plays many parts.” Oh. We don’t need to. Will Shakespeare talked about it already…)

The 50% off ticket offer online is via Living Social, for a limited time and while seat availability lasts. Note that kids’ tickets for all performances are $5 if you buy them in the regular way, not with this special offer.

If you miss that deal (why would you? It’s a cracker) the cheapest day to go is Thursday, when tickets are $10 each for adults, or $5 for kids. On other days, tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for military, seniors, and students with ID, and kids still pay $5. If you buy those direct from the Duke City Rep online box office, there is also an addition $1.50 per ticket booking fee.

Performances are on Thursdays to Saturdays at 8 pm, plus Sunday matinees at 2 pm and you’ll find The Filling Station at 1024 4th Street, SW.

Over at the Adobe Theater, the holiday show is Christmas Classic Radio Theater presents: A Christmas Carol. The show runs from November 30 to December 16, 2012, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and on Sundays at 2 pm.  Regular priced tickets are $15, or $13 for seniors and students. But if you buy tickets in advance for the opening weekend (November 30, and December 1 and 2) all tickets are reduced to $12.

Call the box office at (505) 898-9222 or book Adobe Theater tickets online – there’s an online booking fee of around $1 per ticket. The Adobe Theater is located at 9813 Fourth Street NW.

The Albuquerque Theatre Guild told us about this deal on a six-month membership for the Theatre Lovers Community, which gives you discounts at various member theatres, access to rehearsals and auditions, and special programs. A membership for the period January 1 to June 30, 2013, is priced at $17.50, or $15 for full-time students and seniors over age 62.

But right now they have a deal to buy TWO Theatre Lovers Community memberships for $27. If you buy now, they’ll also throw in December membership, at no additional cost. Could be a nice idea for a gift, and they’ll even send the membership card and a seasonal greeting on your behalf to the recipient, if you choose.

We do enjoy some fantastic theatre in Albuquerque, and even better when it’s on the cheap!

Comments Off on ABQ Balloon Flight 50% Off with Champagne, Breakfast

Take an Albuquerque balloon flight with champagne and breakfast for $95. The half-price deal is available for a limited time, and once you’ve purchased the certificate you can choose when to fly through May 6, 2013.

This Rainbow Ryders deal might be just the ticket if you want to take a balloon adventure at a price that doesn’t require a bank loan. For $95 you get a balloon ride with a champagne toast and continental breakfast, discounted by more than half from the usual price of $195. They throw in a commemorative pin and a flight certificate too.

The Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon discount offer is available for a limited time from Living Social, but then you can redeem your certificate for a flight through May 6, 2013.  Could be a nice idea if you have family or friends visiting this winter or in the spring, or to give as a holiday gift.  Each person can buy up to four tickets to ride, plus more to give as gifts.

Rainbow Ryders is of course the official balloon ride operator for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and has taken people on balloon rides since 1982.

The flight is with fully licensed pilots, and if you want to take kids for an on-the-cheap balloon ride, the minimum age for flyers is five years.
