If you’re looking for something fun to do that won’t break the bank this weekend, check out this fab event taking place at Angel Fire!

Every Friday night in July (2009), Angel Fire Resort offers “Movies Under the Stars“. You can enjoy recent movies on the golf course, plus food, drinks, prizes, and surprises! And it’s all FREE.

This Friday, July 17, you can catch Paul Blart: Mall Cop, starring Kevin James. (Hey, did you know his uncle is Dick Knipfing?) This hilarious movie should provide great laughs for the whole family.

Angel Fire provides the 50-foot inflatable movie screen, movie-style surround sound, pleasant turf to sit on, parking, and popcorn for free. You’re invited to bring your family, friends, lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets. Note that alcoholic beverages may not be brought into the venue (pursuant to NM state law), but refreshing brewskis will be available for purchase. Other concessions also will be available, including barbecue, snacks, soft drinks, and candy. It’ll be like the drive-in, only without the cars!

Angel Fire is only about a three-hour drive from Albuquerque, so you can simply duck out of work a little early on Friday afternoon and make it to the resort in plenty of time to catch the show, which begins at dark. Check out these lodging deals to complete your cheap getaway.

As we said, all movies start showing at dark. In case of last-minute weather cancellations or venue changes, call the Angel Fire Resort Hotel at 575-377-6401.

Angel Fire Resort is located, naturally enough, in Angel Fire, NM, just east of Taos. Check out this map with driving directions.
