Comments Off on Free Pancakes at IHOP March 3
On IHOP’s National Pancake Day, IHOP is giving dine-in customers a free short stack of pancakes… no doubt they’ll go like hotcakes! People from around the country will celebrate a “Decade of Giving” with the tenth annual National Pancake Day at IHOP.
So hop on over to your local IHOP on Tuesday March 3, 2015, between 7 am and 10 pm, to claim a short stack of free IHOP pancakes – that’s three buttermilk pancakes. In exchange, consider making a donation to Children’s Miracle Network to support children’s hospitals, or other local charities.
IHOP’s National Pancake Day celebration has raised almost $16 million for charity since it started in 2006. Their goal this year is to raise $3.5 million for charity. Wow!
They’ve given away more than 10 million pancakes in previous years, so make sure three of those cakes have your name written on them in 2015!
The IHOP National Pancake Day offer is limited to one free short stack per person, at participating restaurants for dine-in only while supplies last and is not valid with any other offer, special coupon or discount.
Comments Off on Coronado State Monument Christmas at Kuaua
Coronado State Monument’s free Christmas event for all the family creates a festive glow and includes cider and biscochitos! The monument’s name was changed just over a year ago. Don’t forget that it is now called the Coronado Historic Site.
The Christmas at Kuaua event at Coronado Historic Site lights up the luminarias on the evening of Sunday December 7, 2014, from 5 pm.
The evening’s activities include a Santa’s Workshop for kids to make a Christmas tree ornament. That is followed at 6 pm by Native American storytelling, traditional Pueblo dancing, and music. Amidst the luminarias and Christmas lights, they’ll have a lovely bonfire too, assuming the weather conditions are right.
Admission is free, and to help everyone keep warm (with or without a bonfire) the Friends of Coronado will also provide free hot apple cider and biscochitos.
Coronado Historic Site Christmas at Kuaua gets festive:
- When: Sunday December 7, 2014
- Time: From 5 pm
- Where: Coronado Historic Site (a.k.a. Coronado State Monument) in Bernalillo
- Price: Admission is free!
Coronado Historic Site is just off I-25, at exit 242, in Bernalillo.
Comments Off on Free Chick-fil-A on Cow Appreciation Day
I can’t quite believe it’s been a whole year since I last encouraged you to dress up as a cow in order to get free food. Here we are, all sane and rational people, and yet so many people love this Chick-fil-A Cow Appreciation Day freebie every year! They’re all crazy at Chick-fil-A (in a nice way), and it seems we’re as nutty as they are.
So, here’s the deal. Get a Free Chick-fil-A meal for Cow Appreciation Day at all locations on Friday July 11, 2014, if you show up fully dressed as a cow. They’ve even got a kit to show you how! (Hey, that rhymes.)
Or if you go partially dressed as a cow, sporting a cow spotted hat, vest, purse or other accessory, you’ll get some kind of free entree item instead of the full combo meal.
The freebie is valid at breakfast, lunch or dinner and there are various options on the combo meals available, all including a beverage. Details on those menu items are in the FAQs at the link. If you take a child in cow costume, they get a free kid’s meal. And they will of course be scarred for life if they are not enthusiastic about cavorting about as a cow. So you’ll have to weigh the pros and cons there regarding the free meal versus years of therapy
To go FULLY dressed as a cow from head to hoof, Chick-fil-A gives you a starter kit for the full Cow Appreciation Day. I have to confess that even though I’ve looked at it several times, I’m still not sure how to transform myself into a cow with it. But you readers are much cleverer than me, and the photo above may help.
This brilliant bovine day of beauteous bargains is ONLY on Friday July 11, 2014.
So put your best hoof forward, practice moo-ing, and chew the cud at any Chick-fil-A location. If you don’t know the one nearest you, check out the Chick-fil-A locations map.

Comments Off on Free Sagebrush Auto Show with Free Refreshments: June 15-16
The Father’s Day weekend Sagebrush Auto Show promises vintage cars, hot rods and motorbikes. Admission is free and they’re throwing in gratis food and drink too!
Roll down to the seventh annual Sagebrush Auto Show, on June 15 and 16, 2013 to check out the car action! I have zero advance event information about this year’s show, and their website is extremely sparse in any details. But I can tell you that in previous years they’ve had 200+ classic cars, custom cars, hot rods, trucks, and motorcycles. They’ve often had tractors too, and quirky exhibits like a batmobile, plus a raffle.
I DO know for sure that there will be free drinks and food like hot dogs (to go with the hot rods), chips and ice cream.
If you want more specifics on the Sagebrush Auto Show rather than turning up to take your chances, the organizers might post more info nearer the time at the Sagebrush Community Church Facebook page. Because this IS a church event, note that you may well be encouraged to check out the church, as well as the cars!
The 2013 Sagebrush Auto Show takes place:
- Saturday June 15 from 3 pm – 9 pm
- Sunday June 16 from 9 am – 3 pm
- Admission is free
- At the Sagebrush Community Church Riverside Campus.
The Sagebrush Community Church is located at 6440 Coors Boulevard NW, at Coors and La Orilla.
Comments Off on Albuquerque Free Lunch for Kids Program
The City of Albuquerque’s Summer Lunch Program dishes up free lunch for kids (and sometimes breakfast too) for youngsters aged 1 to 18 this summer 2013. The lunches are served in area parks, community centers, and other venues from June 3 to August 2, although dates may vary.
We think the excellent Albuquerque summer free lunch for kids program is very well-known already – it’s certainly popular with the parents who know about it! But just in CASE you haven’t heard the word, children and youths aged from one year to eighteen years can get a free lunch (and at some venues a free breakfast) just by turning up.
The free lunch for kids program starts on June 3 2013 at most locations, and runs through August 2. At some venues the start and end dates may be different, so check the PDF lists of participating free kids lunch and breakfast venues at this link. At that same web page, you’ll also see a map of venues (scroll down!) to find the one closest to you, plus information on meal times and menus.
Meals are served on a first-come-first-served basis. The only restrictions are that youngsters can’t pick and choose – they take the entire meal – and they have to eat on site. The free lunch for kids is not a take-out deal. They must also clean up after themselves, and be generally well-behaved. No food fights!
The menus look pretty balanced, and in fact better than I get to eat most days when I’m too lazy to cook. (Yep, lunch at Cheap Central too often consists of yet another cup of coffee.) For example, the kids’ lunch on Friday June 7 is scheduled to be half a turkey sandwich with sliced bread, cheese, snap peas and apple sauce, and chocolate milk to wash it down.
As part of National Bike to Work Day 2013, roll up for free refreshments, free Starbucks, and free swag at breakfast stops on May 17.
Get on your bike for freebies this Friday May 17, 2013 on the Albuquerque Bike to Work Day. If you cycle to work you can join the free-wheeling fun from 6:30 to 8:30 am at the BikeABQ and the City of Albuquerque breakfast stop locations. They’re giving out snacks, biking info, and fun and very useful biking giveaways.
The free stuff includes T-shirts, water bottles, lights, patch kits, tire levers, reflective leg bands, and seat packs. The free breakfast items are granola bars, coffee and bananas, supplied by Starbucks, General Mills, and APS. All freebies are while supplies last, so you’ll have to start moving your little leggies and cycle there early!
This link shows you all the ABQ Bike to Work Day breakfast stops including maps and directions. They are positioned all over the city from Downtown at Civic Plaza (the northwest corner off Marquette), Uptown at the Uptown Transit Center (Indian School and Americas Parkway), the Erna Fergusson Library east of San Mateo at the Paseo del Nordeste Trail, and on the Westside at Montano and Winterhaven. Plus three more stops.
Get fit, help the planet, and freebies too – what’s not to love?
Comments Off on Page One Customer Appreciation Day: April 27
Page One Bookstore is throwing a Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday April 27 with hot dogs, cake, and a book deal. I believe this coincides with the bookstore’s anniversary too… I reckon they’re 32 years old in Albuquerque this year!
As a writer and avid reader I’m especially keen to support our independent bookstores, and this is a very good time to be supporting Page One… especially when you can save money too. They’ve just won Best of Burque for the bookstore category.
The Page One Customer Appreciation Day on Saturday April 27, 2013, promises free hot dogs and cake from 12 noon to 6 pm, while supplies last. According to an email, they’re also offering a deal on books all day: Buy 3 books and you get one free.
At 3 pm, during the celebration party, author Christine Barber will be reading from and signing copies of her new book: When the Devil Doesn’t Show. Barber is a former recipient of the Tony Hillerman Prize for a mystery novel.
You can also print out this Page One $5 Off Coupon to save $5 on any $30 or more purchase, whether new or used. It’s valid till April 30, so take it along if you’re going to the birthday party! For ABQ on the Cheap readers with a smart phone or other internet enabled doohickey, you don’t even have to print this coupon. Just show it on your “web capable mobile device” to get the $5 discount.
That gives you plenty of excuses to go and be appreciated!
Looking ahead, I also notice that May 4 offers a sale on all Star Wars items for fans of the Star Wars movies. (And who isn’t?) On May 4, Page One will give a 20% discount on all Star Wars merchandise, including the cookbooks, Lego sets, the Thrawn trilogy, and whatever other Star Wars themed stuff they have in stock.
Page One Bookstoreis located at 11018 Montgomery NE
Comments Off on Subway BOGO Free in April
Wake up and smell the freebie! Subway has a BOGO free deal running for breakfast through the month of April 2013, and although I’m writing this at dinner time, I rather wish it were breakfast already.
During April, if you buy a 6 inch sandwich by 9 am on any morning, you can get another Subway sandwich free!
As usual with Buy One Get One free deals, the free sandwich must be of equal or lesser value.
The sandwich in the photo is a Sunrise Subway Melt. I chose it for the rather pretty name, but the contents don’t look bad either: turkey, bacon, ham, egg white, cheese, and veggies.
The Subway BOGO free sub offer is available daily at participating Subways, so call ahead if you want to be sure your favorite location is running the deal.
