Free money management and financial advice bookGet Craig Guillot’s book Stuff About Money: No BS Financial Advice for Regular People at the link as a free Kindle book (or read it on your computer) until April 12.

My journalist colleague Craig Guillot had the brilliant idea to write a practical book about money management that we ordinary people can understand (cut out the jargon!) with tips from financial professionals on everything from real estate and retirement to insurance and savings. The book offers quick and relatively easy-to-do ways to boost financial security, one step at a time.

Usually the book costs $14.99 for the print edition or $9.99 for the eBook, but you can get a free download of Stuff About Money: No BS Financial Advice for Regular People for Kindle now through Friday April 12, 2013. Or, if you don’t have a Kindle, downloaded it to your computer or other mobile device, using Amazon’s free app at the link.

The freebie offer is in celebration of Financial Literacy Month, and it’s for two days only, on April 11 and 12, 2013.

I’ve read this book and I have to say it’s very straight-talking, sensible, and realistic. It aims to give some peace of mind and confidence about managing your money for a healthy financial life. It includes a section on “Why you should track your net worth no matter how little it may be.” My net worth is probably in the region of $7.48, although if I count Mr. Cheap as an asset, it may rocket into the double digits.

Of course, some assets are priceless 😉

–Tania FYI I’ve given you my Amazon affiliate link for the free Kindle book download.

Free Spirit, Mind, Body, Money Talks

Comments Off on Free Spirit, Mind, Body, Money Talks

The YMCA of Central New Mexico hosts a series of guest speakers in March 2012 on the theme of Spirit, Mind, and Body. You don’t have to be a YMCA member to turn up – the talks are free to the general public.

The YMCA Spirit, Mind, and Body talks tackle how to manage all three in the midst of our busy lives. A couple of the talks relate to money too – I’m not sure if that speaks to spirit, mind, or body, but it’s sure hard to keep the stress levels down when cash is a concern.

So here’s the roster for March 21, 22, and 28, and all talks start at 6 pm:

  • Mindfulness Meditation for health, healing, and stress reduction: Wednesday, March 21.
Led by Claudio Barrientos from The Mindful Center, which teaches practical, non-religious meditation techniques. Location: Horn Family YMCA.
  • A Plan for All Seasons – Financial Planning for Every Phase of Life: Thursday, March 22.
Led by Adriane Callinan from Waddell & Reed, which consults on financial planning, insurance, and retirement planning. Location: McLeod YMCA.
  • We Find Money Others Miss – Free Second Look Review: Wednesday, March 28
An H&R Block advisor gives your tax return a free Second Look Review to look for missed deductions and credits. The only money I ever find is down the back of the couch – so maybe you’ll get luckier with your tax return! Location: The Horn Family YMCA.
  • How I Learned to Laugh At Myself: Wednesday, March 28.
I’m not sure I need any teaching on this, as I frequently laugh at myself. And if I don’t, Mr Cheap does it for me. But this talk sounds rather fun, led by Shauna Rampley from Soaring Eagle Institute, a training & consulting company. Rampley specializes in helping people manage change and flexing that sense of humor muscle to deal with health or other life issues.  Location: McLeod YMCA

See full details on the YMCA Spirit, Mind, and Body talks and all the free talks are open to the public as well as to members of the YMCA.

McLeod Mountainside YMCA is located at 12500 Comanche Road NE.
The Horn Family YMCA is at 4901 Indian School Road NE.
