Tamarind Institute: Fine Art at Bargain Prices
Anyone can afford to buy art at this price – $150 for works worth thousands of dollars. Plus admission to Tamarind Institute event catered by Artichoke Cafe and Farina. Buy soon, there’s a limited quantity available.
This is such a great idea for a fundraiser. Tamarind Institute’s Win/Win Lottery works like this: One hundred tickets are sold to the Win/Win Lottery event on September 11, 2010. Tickets cost $150 each, including admission and a lottery ticket. When you turn up to the event, you draw a number. The number drawn decides which order everyone gets to choose the work of art they want from the 100 available.
Whatever number you draw, and whatever print you walk home with, you can’t lose – these works are valued roughly from $400 to $4000! There are some big name artist prints in the lottery, including RC Gorman, Jim Dine, Kiki Smith, Hung Liu, Laurent DeBrunhoff, Polly Apfelbaum… and a lot more. See all the art prizes in the Tamarind Win/Win Lottery event.
The Win/Win Lottery event includes wine and hors d’ oeuvres provided by Artichoke Cafe and Farina.
- When: Saturday September 11, 2010
- Time: 5:30 – 7 pm
- Where: The old Tamarind Gallery, 110 Cornell Drive SE
We’ve checked that Tamarind still has some tickets available, but if art-lovers have any sense, they won’t be available for long. Contact Tamarind Institute to buy lottery tickets.
If you just want to go to the Lottery event (without having an actual lottery ticket) it’s $30 for admission.

FREE ADMISSION: MADfest AT MENAUL SCHOOL
Actually, the Menaul School’s website doesn’t explicitly say this event is free, but we think it is. If anybody knows differently, please tell us!
Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19 (2009), the Menaul School hosts its 2nd annual MADfest — Music, Art and Drama Festival. At this cool event, high school students from around Albuquerque display their fine art in a juried show with varied categories. In addition, drama and musical performances will be held beginning at 6:30pm on Saturday in the school’s Donaldson Auditorium. There will also be balloon rides, clowns, refreshments, and much more! (We hunch those things cost $$.)
This is your chance to support young local artists, performers, and musicians. It should be a great event for the whole family!
Saturday’s events run from 9:00am – 6:00pm (with performances starting at 6:30pm), while Sunday’s program runs from 9:00am – 3:00pm. The Menaul School is located at 301 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque.
