Comments Off on Kids Bowl Free Summer 2014: Still Time to Play!

I mentioned the Kids Bowl Free program at the beginning of summer, but if you haven’t taken advantage of the deal yet there is still time for kids to play two free games every day. Plus you can purchase an optional family pass for $24.95 for up to four adults to play two games each a day.

Kids Bowl Free is a great summer program with bowling centers around the country, giving kids the chance to play two free games every day throughout the promotion. You need to sign up to the Kids Bowl Free 2014 promotion to get free bowling coupons every week.

Fewer Albuquerque area bowling centers are taking part this year, but kids can still get free games at Silva Lanes and at Tenpins & More in Rio Rancho. If you were registered with the program last year, you need to re-register for 2014.

Start by registering your child or children for one or more of these bowling center programs. If you sign up for more than one, you’ll need to use a different email address for each account:

Silva  Lanes Kids Bowl Free runs to September 20, 2014, for kids aged 18 and under. Their free games are on Monday and Thursday from 10 am to 10 pm; on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am to 5 pm; on Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm, and on Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm.

Tenpins & More Rio Rancho Kids Bowl Free program runs through August 31, 2014, for kids aged 15 and under. Their free games are valid on Monday to Wednesday and on Friday: 11 am to 2 pm; and on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm. This year, Tenpins & More has added a pair of night sessions.  Now kids can bowl their free games on Wednesday and Thursday nights between 9 pm to 11 pm.

  • You can register up to six children on each registration form – if you have a bigger brood, you need to create an additional account with a different email address for the other children.
  • Then watch your email to confirm your subscription and then you’ll get an email with info to log in to your account and print out the coupons for 2 free games per day.
  • If the young bowler’s family members also want to play, then once you’ve registered a child for the free bowling, you have the option to buy a family bowling pass for $24.95, which allows up to 4 adults to each play 2 free games a day too.
  • If you don’t have your own bowling shoes, you still have to pay regular shoe rental rates
  • Check the FAQ for any other details on how Kids Bowl Free works.

If you don’t know where these Albuquerque bowling centers are located, you’ll find them here: Silva Lanes is at 3010 Eubank Boulevard NE. Tenpins & More is at 1416 Deborah Rd SE, Rio Rancho.

Here’s a nice addition to the other family-friendly free or cheap summer movies series I’ve mentioned recently.  The South Broadway Cultural Center is screening a series of fun movies on Wednesdays, completely free!

The films will definitely appeal to kids if you are still looking for ways to entertain your little darlings. But you don’t have to be a child to go – these films appeal to kids of all ages. The movies are screened at 2 pm on Wednesdays in the John Lewis Theatre.

Here’s the schedule of free movies at the South Broadway Cultural Center:

  • Wednesday July 23 at 2 pm:   The Incredibles
  • Wednesday July 30 at 2 pm:  Wall-E
  •  Wednesday August 6 at 2 pm:  Zoo Keeper
  • Wednesday August 15 at 2 pm:  Finding Nemo

The John Lewis Theater is located in the South Broadway Cultural Center, 1025 Broadway SE.

You’ve also got a little time left this summer to enjoy the movie deals mentioned in my previous posts: Free Movies Under the Stars screenings and $1 Family Movie Tickets at Cinemark and Regal cinemas.

Free Hotel Cascada Waterpark

If you don’t already love Jackie, Tony, and Donnie (we do!) then you’ve got to love them for their Free Summer Fun Roadshow which gives you the chance to frolic in the Hotel Cascada Waterpark for free on Monday.

This fun free morning at the Hotel Cascada Waterpark is courtesy of our friends Jackie, Tony & Donnie in the Morning at 100.3 The Peak.  Just turn up to get free admission to the Hotel Cascada Waterpark on Monday July 14, 2014, from 6 am to 9:45 am, while Jackie, Tony & Donnie are broadcasting at the Albuquerque waterpark.
To get the maximum splash from the freebie, you need to dive in at the right time. Here’s how it works. There will be two sessions of swimming time at the Hotel Cascada waterpark. They have a limit of 600 people each time. (Hey, the waterpark is big but we’re not talking about the Pacific Ocean here! Space is limited.)
The session times are:
  • First session: 6am – 7:45 am
  • Second session: 8am -9:45 am

If you turn up in the middle of a session, you’ll still have to leave at the end time so the next group can come in. Logic tells me, Spock, that you get the best value and the most free fun if you arrive early for the 6 am or 8 am sessions. (Also, it gives you a better chance of getting in before they are full.)

Cool off and celebrate the free admission to the Hotel Cascada Waterpark.  With Jackie, Tony & Donnie you know you are always guaranteed a great time anyway!

Albuquerque’s Hotel Cascada Waterpark is located at 2500 Carlisle Boulevard NE.

Albuquerque Maize Maze & Pumpkin Palooza

Comments Off on Albuquerque Maize Maze & Pumpkin Palooza

The Albuquerque Maize Maze hasn’t been quite itself this year and it hasn’t been open in the regular way. However, the Rio Grande Community Farm has now created a 7-acre maize maze and we can enjoy it this weekend!

The main event is the Pumpkin Palooza on Saturday October 26 from noon to 5 pm.  There is a suggested donation of $5 to join the fun. Pumpkin-themed activities will be accompanied by live music from The Saltine Ramblers and Chuck Hawley. They’ll also have pumpkins for sale and artists painting outdoors. Highlights include:

  • 12 noon to 3 pm: Pumpkin painting contest ($2 to enter with the purchase of a pumpkin)
  • 12 noon to 4:30 pm: Pie Eating Contest for speedy eaters ($5 entry fee, $3 for kids aged 12 and under)
  • 1 pm to 4:30 pm: Pumpkin Olympics on the obstacle course ($2 entry fee)
  • 4 pm: Halloween Costume Contest, including a costumed canine category

There are some pretty good prizes in the contests, including packages and gift cards from Hinkle Family Fun Center, Vinaigrette Bistro, La Montanita Co-op, Leisure Bowl, Annapurna’s and lots more.

If you want to visit the Albuquerque Maize Maze at another time this weekend, the opening times are:

  • Friday October 25 from 3 pm to 7 pm
  • Saturday October 26 from 9 am to 7 pm (The Pumpkin Palooza takes place in the middle of that, from 12-5pm)
  • Sunday October 27 from 9 am to 7 pm

Admission is $5 and kids aged under 3 go free.

The 2013 maze is actually a mix of corn and tall sorghum. I don’t suppose many of us will mind.

Rio Grande Community Farm is located at 1701 Montano Road NW, with access at Los Poblanos Fields Open Space. (1.1 miles west of 4th Street.)

Cliff’s Amusement Park Discounts: Save $7 Sundays and More

August 13, 2013 by

Comments Off on Cliff’s Amusement Park Discounts: Save $7 Sundays and More

The Cliff’s Amusement Park 50% off coupon I mentioned earlier this summer has now expired, but you can still score savings for your visit to Cliff’s in the remainder of the 2013 season.

The easiest way to save is to plan ahead for your visit and buy tickets online in advance at the Cliff’s Amusement Park tickets page. For example, current offers include:

  • Save $7 Sundays in August 2013 with a Ride Pass at $18.95 instead of the regular $25.95 on the door. The Sunday Splash & Ride pass is $22.95 instead of $29.95, and Sunday WaterMania is $8.95 instead of $15.95.
  • Save $3 on a Ride Pass at $22.95 instead of the door price of $25.95. A Ride Pass is valid for unlimited rides on a single day on any of the days Cliff’s is open during the remainder of the season. It doesn’t include WaterMania!
  • Save $3 on an all day Splash and Ride Pass, which includes WaterMania! The discount price is $26.95.

They’re also offering 10-20% discounts on Cliff’s Fun Cards to use on rides, games, and food:

  • Buy a $55 Fun Card for $50
  • Buy a $92 Fun Card for $80
  • Buy a $120 Fun Card for $100

Cliff’s Amusement Park is only open on Saturday and Sunday for the rest of the 2013 season, until September 22.

Find all the current discounts for Cliff’s Amusement Park on their ticket sales page – hit the Buy Tickets Now button at the link to see all the options.

Albertsons Supermarket has also been running an offer for $6 off Ride Passes, but I’m not sure how long that deal continues. Ask in store or has anyone nabbed the Albertsons deal for Cliff’s in the last few days? If you have, share the love and tell us in the comment box below!

Military personnel with ID can get a discount on Cliff’s Splash & Ride Passes when they purchase the passes from the Kirtland Base Ticket Sales Office, at the Arts & Crafts Center on the corner of Wyoming and Frost.

The park is still fondly known by many Albuquerque locals as Uncle Cliff’s, even though they changed the name two decades ago. We were all very sad and sorry to hear when Uncle Cliff himself, Clifford Hammond, passed away earlier this year.  What a wonderful legacy he left us!

If you have any questions about the online ticket promotions, please contact Cliff’s for details.  I don’t make the deals, I just pass the info on to you.

Cliff’s Amusement Park is located at 4800 Osuna Rd NE. Here’s where you’ll find Cliff’s opening hours.

Albuquerque Chicken Coop and Rabbit Tour: July 13-14

Comments Off on Albuquerque Chicken Coop and Rabbit Tour: July 13-14

The new Bernalillo County Coop and Rabbitry Tour pecks (and hops) into action this weekend to tour Albuquerque chicken coops, and it’s free for all the family.

This tour used to be the Albuquerque Coop and Garden Tour, which since 2008 offered inspiration to grow your own backyard edibles and keep chickens. For 2013, Bernalillo County 4-H Small Animal Projects has taken the tour weekend under its wing (ha!) and renamed it the Bernalillo County Coop and Rabbitry Tour. Yes, they’ve added rabbits to the tour!

The Bernalillo County Coop and Rabbitry Tour takes place on Saturday and Sunday July 13 – 14, from 10 am to 2 pm. Even if you aren’t ready to take the plunge into poultry-rearing or rabbit-raising just yet, the free tour of Albuquerque chicken coops looks like a fun way to get outside this weekend. I reckon kids will love it!

Check out the maps to see where all the Albuquerque chicken coops and rabbitry venues are open to the public on each day. There are 6 locations to visit on Saturday July 13 shown in this Saturday map. There are 13 locations to tour on Sunday July 14 and they are on the Sunday map.

The tours are free and open to all, and sites are only open for public visits between 10 am and 2 pm on each day.
