The ABQ Home Expo returns for 2014 on the weekend of August 23 and 24, and you can get $2 off admission by buying tickets online in advance.

Get $2 off ABQ Home Expo adult admission at Expo New Mexico if you buy tickets online. That makes it $6 per ticket instead of $8 on the door. There’s no online discount for seniors’ and kids’ tickets for this show, but they cost less in the first place. Admission is $6 for seniors and kids.  Children aged 11 and under go free.

The August 2014 ABQ Home Expo runs on:

  • Saturday August 23 from 10 am to 5 pm

Save on Globalquerque Tickets 2014

Comments Off on Save on Globalquerque Tickets 2014

September still feels like a long way away, but you’ll save big if you plan ahead and buy your Globalquerque tickets in advance of the show.

Discounted advance tickets are already on sale for ¡Globalquerque! – Albuquerque’s annual celebration of world music and culture. The Globalquerque 2014 event  takes place on September 19-20 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, with performers including the fantastic Guatemala’s Gaby Moreno. Other acts in the line-up include Cuba’s Afro-Cuban All Stars, Calypso Rose with Kobo Town from Trinidad & Tobago, China’s Liu Fang, and America’s own Los Texmaniacs.

You’ll save yourself money if you plan ahead and buy advance Globalquerque tickets rather than waiting to buy on the door. For example, an advance adult 2-day pass costs $59 — a savings of $10 off the day of show price! An adult one day tickets saves $5  in advance, and advance children’s tickets save $2 for one day and $5 for the 2-day pass.

You can buy the advance Globalquerque tickets online, but expect to pay a service charge of $3.50 per ticket. The much cheaper option is to buy tickets at the National Hispanic Cultural Center box office (1701 4th Street SW) with no service charge. Or call the NHCC Box Office on (505) 724-4771 and you’ll also avoid paying ticketing fees.

If you can’t afford to buy Globalquerque tickets at all, or just plain don’t want to pay up for the festival, there will be a free Global Fiesta day on September 20 with family-friendly entertainment and activities.  It’s not really the same as seeing all those fabulous concerts, but it’s still a great day of music and dance.

I’ll keep you posted on the free Global Fiesta day nearer the time, so if you’re not a subscriber remember to Subscribe FREE to Albuquerque on the Cheap by RSS or email. You’ll receive updates in a handy email digest, listing all the new deal posts from the past 24 hours. No new deals that day… no email.

The Entertainment Book is on sale at $10 for any two books plus FREE Shipping at this Entertainment Book website link. The regular price is $40 for the Albuquerque book.

We’re now into the Entertainment Book summer liquidation sale season for any city books remaining (some may have sold out already).  With some of the deals in the book, you literally only have to use one coupon to get the $5 back that you’ve paid for the sale-price books in the limited time two for $10 deal.

The two for $10 offer is good on any city’s book for about 120 locations nationally, including Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Denver, New Orleans, New York, various cities in Texas, Utah, and Hawaii.

The Albuquerque / Santa Fe Entertainment Book for 2014 contains more than 500 coupons including 2-for-1 coupons, 50% off discounts, freebies with purchase, and other ways to save. The coupons are for local attractions, entertainment, leisure, shopping and casual and fine dining. Right now I’m seeing 236 restaurant coupons and 115 shopping coupons, to name just two categories.

The book purchase includes online and mobile coupons, and the book is valid until December 2014.

Coupons may have changed, but last time I looked I spotted coupons for Tucanos Brazilian Grill, Golden Pride Chicken & Ribs, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Arby’s, Boston Market, Mary & Tito’s, Prairie Star Restaurant & Wine Bar, Albuquerque Little Theatre, Hinkle Family Fun Center, Albuquerque Indoor Karting, several bowling venues, Rattlesnake Museum,  Putt-Putt Golf & Games, ABQ Jump,  iT’Z, National Museum Of Nuclear Science & History, Best Buy, Payless Shoe Source, Famous Footwear, Family Dollar Stores, Big 5 Sporting Goods, The Gap, and too many more to mention…

The limited time sale runs until July 27, 2014. UPDATE: The ‘last chance’ sale has been extended to July 31 2014, as they clear the shelves to make way for the 2015 book.

A Christmas Carol Ticket Deal and Discount Theatre Offer

November 20, 2012 by
Filed under Art & Entertainment, Arts, Half Off Deals, Live Performances, Theater

Comments Off on A Christmas Carol Ticket Deal and Discount Theatre Offer

Two productions of the festive classic A Christmas Carol are about to hit the stage in Albuquerque, and here’s how to get discount tickets to both. Plus you can save with a deal on Albuquerque Theatre Guild Theatre Lovers Community for the holiday season.

Duke City Repertory Theatre at The Filling Station presents A Christmas Carol from November 29 to December 16, and this A Christmas Carol ticket deal gives you two adult tickets for the price of one. For Thursday performances you get TWO adult tickets for $10 (usually $10 each) and Friday to Sunday it’s TWO adult tickets for $19 instead of the regular price of $20 each.

The production is based on the Charles Dickens story and adapted and performed by John Hardy. Yep, one guy plays more than 25 roles in the play. (Talk about “One man in his time plays many parts.” Oh. We don’t need to. Will Shakespeare talked about it already…)

The 50% off ticket offer online is via Living Social, for a limited time and while seat availability lasts. Note that kids’ tickets for all performances are $5 if you buy them in the regular way, not with this special offer.

If you miss that deal (why would you? It’s a cracker) the cheapest day to go is Thursday, when tickets are $10 each for adults, or $5 for kids. On other days, tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for military, seniors, and students with ID, and kids still pay $5. If you buy those direct from the Duke City Rep online box office, there is also an addition $1.50 per ticket booking fee.

Performances are on Thursdays to Saturdays at 8 pm, plus Sunday matinees at 2 pm and you’ll find The Filling Station at 1024 4th Street, SW.

Over at the Adobe Theater, the holiday show is Christmas Classic Radio Theater presents: A Christmas Carol. The show runs from November 30 to December 16, 2012, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, and on Sundays at 2 pm.  Regular priced tickets are $15, or $13 for seniors and students. But if you buy tickets in advance for the opening weekend (November 30, and December 1 and 2) all tickets are reduced to $12.

Call the box office at (505) 898-9222 or book Adobe Theater tickets online – there’s an online booking fee of around $1 per ticket. The Adobe Theater is located at 9813 Fourth Street NW.

The Albuquerque Theatre Guild told us about this deal on a six-month membership for the Theatre Lovers Community, which gives you discounts at various member theatres, access to rehearsals and auditions, and special programs. A membership for the period January 1 to June 30, 2013, is priced at $17.50, or $15 for full-time students and seniors over age 62.

But right now they have a deal to buy TWO Theatre Lovers Community memberships for $27. If you buy now, they’ll also throw in December membership, at no additional cost. Could be a nice idea for a gift, and they’ll even send the membership card and a seasonal greeting on your behalf to the recipient, if you choose.

We do enjoy some fantastic theatre in Albuquerque, and even better when it’s on the cheap!

Disney’s The Lion King Cheap Tickets for Students

Comments Off on Disney’s The Lion King Cheap Tickets for Students

Disney’s The Lion King is currently on stage in Albuquerque at Popejoy Hall, and students can get cheap tickets if they join the rush!

The Lion King plays at Popejoy Hall until October 28, and although regular tickets range in price from $52.50 to $152.50, students can get tickets for $27.50 during The Lion King student rush on selected performances.

The student rush tickets are available one hour before curtain time, for the evening performances on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.  You need to take Student ID to prove your eligibility – that includes students at UNM and CNM, Albuquerque Public Schools and Rio Rancho Public Schools, and indeed all students with ID from anywhere!

The student rush tickets are NOT available for Friday evening shows, all day Saturday, or the Sunday matinees.

See The Lion King performance times here, and be at the Popejoy Hall Box Office at the entrance to Popejoy Hall one hour prior to curtain. (I’d turn up earlier, there could be a line!) Take valid student ID, and each student can only buy one ticket.

The Tony Award-winning Broadway show features Elton John and Tim Rice’s familiar score, including the Oscar-winning song Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Circle of Life.

Hope some students feel the love by snagging some discount tickets, and have a roaring good time at The Lion King!

Thanks to Suzanne for tipping us off about the student rush tickets!

ABQ Trolley Ten Buck Tour & Breaking Bad Tour

Comments Off on ABQ Trolley Ten Buck Tour & Breaking Bad Tour

The final ABQ Trolley Co $10 tour for the 2012 season is coming up, so if you haven’t taken the ride this summer, here’s how to save on this uniquely Albuquerque experience.

The discounted Albuquerque trolley tour is called the Ten Buck Tour, offering more than 50% off the usual adult ticket tour price of $25.   The $10 ticket includes tax, and the narrated tour includes fun Albuquerque trivia and prizes from local businesses.

The final one this year is on Saturday September 22, 2012, at 3:30 pm, and tickets go on sale on Monday September 10 at 10 am. These discounted $10 tours sell out fast so buy Ten Buck Tour tickets online in advance. Tell them that you heard about it at ABQ on the Cheap!

They say the tour is geared towards Duke City residents, but visitors are welcome too – in fact, I reckon it could be even more fun for visitors to hang out with locals on the trip! The customized open-air trolley leaves from Old Town and takes you through Downtown, along Route 66 through Nob Hill, and around Barelas, Tingley Beach and more.

ALBUQUERQUE TROLLEY BREAKING BAD TOUR

The new ABQ Trolley Co. Breaking Bad tour has received a lot of media attention. I’ve been reading about the ‘BaD Tour’ everywhere – a three hour, narrated tour of Breaking Bad locations.  If you’ve heard the BaD buzz too, then tickets go on sale on Monday September 10 at 10 am for the final tour dates of the season:

  • Sunday September 30 at 3:30 pm
  • Tuesday October 9 at 3 pm

These aren’t On the Cheap ticket prices. The tours cost $60 per person, although Breaking Bad fans might consider that a deal for a Breaking Bad fest, touring Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s Albuquerque (the exteriors only) and including trivia and prizes from Albuquerque businesses.  The BaD tours sell out quickly, but you’d better NOT call Saul! Get tickets online to the Breaking Bad trolley tour.
