Harlem Globetrotters Discount Tickets

Comments Off on Harlem Globetrotters Discount Tickets

Score Harlem Globetrotters discount tickets to see the game at the Santa Ana Star Center on February 23, 2014 in this limited time presale. Options include a Magic Pass to go hands-on with the players at a special event before the game.

I’m not strong on basketball but even I enjoy the Harlem Globetrotters. They are so funny and entertaining with their athletic displays!  Their Albuquerque and Rio Rancho exhibition game at 4 pm on February 23 is at the Santa Ana Star Center.  The discount tickets in this presale deal gives you up to 40% off and the offer includes a Magic Pass option.

There are several choices in the Harlem Globetrotters discount tickets deal, and the prices include all ticketing fees:

  • $35 for a ticket in rows A–F of section 203, 206, 213, or 216 (regular value up to $58.50, including all fees)
  • $41 for a ticket in rows P-S of sections 203, 206, 213, or 216, plus a Magic Pass (up to $67.50 value)
  • $48 for a ticket in rows A–F of section 203, 206, 213, or 216, plus a Magic Pass (up to $80.50 value)

The Magic Pass gives access to a special exhibition of tricks and “hands-on basketball fun” with the players before the game, and the chance to meet the Globetrotters and their mascot Globie and get autographs.

You can buy Harlem Globetrotters discount tickets up to a maximum of 8 tickets per person if you want to take the whole family/office/street. But of course the quantity of tickets available in the 40% off deal via Groupon is limited, and the deal is only available for a few days. So if you want to see the Globetrotters, nab this one soon!

The game starts at 4 pm on Sunday February 23, 2014. I will never again forget that the Globetrotters’ team song is Sweet Georgia Brown because it was an answer to a question in one of my bitterly-contested games of Trivial Pursuit with Mr Cheap.

The Santa Ana Star Center is located in Rio Rancho.

Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show 2013

Comments Off on Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show 2013

We know how much you love your fiery foods, but don’t be a hot head. Check out the best way to buy your tickets to Albuquerque’s National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show, returning to the Sandia Resort and Casino from March 1 – 3, 2013.

The 25th National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show is produced by Albuquerque’s own chilehead Dave DeWitt, with over 200 exhibitors and plenty of opportunities to sample salsas, savories, and sweets with heat!  Cooking demonstrations this year include guest chef  “Dr. BBQ” Ray Lampe, and cookbook author Jennifer Trainer Thompson is giving two demonstrations on How to Make Hot Sauce at Home. There’s also a tequila demonstration with Jim Garcia of Sadies of New Mexico, the Great Grill-Off contest, and more.

Tickets cost $15 for adults and $5 for children aged 6 – 18 if you buy tickets at the door.  Tots aged 5 and under go free. However, you can get a discount ticket at $10 for adults if you purchase tickets in advance.  (Kids’ ticket prices are still $5.) To avoid paying Ticketmaster fees on those advance tickets, hop it along to the Sandia Resort & Casino Ticketmaster booth ahead of the show’s opening date to get the $5 discount with no online fee.

Otherwise, purchasing advance tickets online via Ticketmaster adds a $5.05 fee per adult ticket, so you’re actually paying 5 cents more than on the door, and kids’ admission is $3.75 more expensive than waiting till the day of the show. Plus you’ll pay a fee for ticket delivery, or it’s free for Will Call tickets. If the convenience of buying online in advance works for you, that’s all well and good: order via Ticketmaster here.

Admission for the fiery foods extravaganza is hot-and-heavy-breathing good value, even if you don’t snag the advance discount!

The 2013 Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show general public admission times are:

  • Friday March 1  from 4 to 8 pm
  • Saturday March 2  from 11 am to 7 pm
  • Sunday March 3  from 11 am to 6 pm

It’s free to park at Sandia Resort and Casino, located at 30 Rainbow Road NE, just east of I-25 at the Tramway Exit 234. The resort is huge and kinda hard to miss, but if you’re an Albuquerque visitor, here’s a map to Sandia Resort & Casino.

Two Movie Tickets = $15

January 30, 2013 by
Filed under Art & Entertainment, Movies

Comments Off on Two Movie Tickets = $15

For $15 get 2 movie tickets worth up to $26, in a limited time deal. UPDATE: This deal posted on January 30 has now sold out.

The offer gives you one Hollywood Movie Money certificate valid for two admissions, to redeem at participating Albuquerque (and national) movie theaters, including Century 14 Downtown, and it’s valid for 3D movies too.  You can buy up to 5 pairs of tickets for yourself, and 5 to give as gifts.

This is a national deal at Tippr, available until Thursday January 31. It looks like the offer runs until 10 pm Mountain Time (midnight Eastern). You’re basically buying a promo code that can be redeemed for two movie tickets up to a total value of $26, including 3-D and IMAX movies, and including opening day, for the participating cinemas.

See View All Terms at the deal page for a list of participating cinemas, searchable by zip code. As far as I can see in a quick search in the Albuquerque area, those include:

  • Century 14 Downtown Albuquerque
  • Century Rio 24 and XD
  • Cinemark Movies 8
  • Cinemark Movies West
  • Premiere Cinema 14 Rio Rancho

Check all the $15 for two movie tickets deal fine print to make sure it’s a good choice for you, and instructions for how to redeem the certificate, available immediately after purchase. The Hollywood Movie Money code you receive must be activated online by February 28, and the certificate redeemed within one month from online code activation.

Obviously the bargain value of this deal will depend on which movie theater you frequent and other factors that influence the regular admission price. If you already get a senior discount or whatever, or if you want to go to a lower-priced matinee, the regular admission could well be cheaper already than $7.50 per person.

But I hope this helps someone save a little on movie tickets… to spend on popcorn instead!

–Tania FYI – I’ve given you my Tippr affiliate links to plug you direct to the offer.

Comments Off on Deals on Cirque de Soleil, Dominos Dollars, Bishops Lodge, Downton Days, Free Museums & More

A few deals, cheap eats, and free things to do this weekend.

Get a 4 Ticket Family Pack to Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam show with two adult and two child tickets for $240 for Category 1 seats (these tickets usually cost $333 including ticketing fees, according to a quick check I just made at the venue), or $300 for a Premium Pack ($423 direct from the venue).  The show is at Santa Ana Star Center with four performances on January 17, 18, and 20, in the Cirque de Soleil package deal via Living Social. There are other cheaper level seats at the venue, but a reader asked about Cirque de Soleil discount tickets while they’re touring in Albuquerque, so I’m passing it on.

Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa in Santa Fe has a 30% off sale until Monday January 7, discounting standard seasonal rates by 30% on room bookings through December 31, 2013 when you use the promo code: J48S

See the movie Wise Blood free at The Guild Cinema on Saturday January 5 at 12:30 pm. The film was directed by John Huston, based on the Flannery O’Connor novel, and is part of the free Books to the Big Screen series in January  mentioned in my earlier post.

Some spaces remain for the free Downton Days Tea Tasting and Talk on January 9, at time of writing. The Downton Abbey inspired event is at 10:30am at Taylor Ranch Library with a talk on afternoon tea and Certified Tea Specialist (who knew such a thing existed?) leading two tea tastings. Register in advance for the free event.

Get $5 in Domino’s Dollars when ordering online two medium 2-topping pizzas at $5.99 through January 13. The bonus $5 can be used on your next online order within 10 days.

This Burger King BOGO Free Whopper Coupon is still available for a limited time, giving you a free Whopper sandwich when you buy another Whopper sandwich. The coupon via Coupons.com may have a cap on quantities, but once you have it I believe the printable coupon is valid until at least March.

Pizza Nine Coupons include $5 off any $25 purchase, free 2 liter soda with a medium or large pizza purchase, free dessert with a medium or large pizza purchase. Plus (this last one is only for Pizza 9 carry-out orders) get a free medium pizza when you buy a large specialty pizza.

Join a free Rio Grande Nature Center Nature Walk this weekend, choosing from a guided bird walk at 8:30 am on Saturday and Sunday, or naturalist-led tour through the bosque on Sunday at 1 pm. The walks are free, but if you’re parking at the site the fee is $3 per vehicle, at 2901 Candelaria Rd NW.

Visit the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History this weekend, January 5 and 6, and get one free general admission as part of the Museums on Us program when you show your Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit card or debit card as well as a photo ID.  The offer is also at around 150 museums nationally. Everyone else always gets free admission to the Albuquerque Museum on Sunday mornings from 9 am to 1 pm.

New Mexico residents get in free to The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science this Sunday January 6, 2013, from 9 am to 5 pm, and on the first Sunday of every month.  Take your New Mexico ID!

Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum admission is free on Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm. Their special exhibit Mexican Space Collective: Ulises I is due to close soon (January 20 according to a City of Albuquerque press release, although the Museum site still has the final date as January 6) so this could be a good Sunday to catch the exhibit for free before it’s gone!

The National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum also offers free admission on Sundays, from 10 am – 5 pm, and at Coronado State Monument admission is free on Sundays for New Mexico residents with ID.

Holiday Ole & BOGO Free Ticket Deal

November 6, 2012 by

Comments Off on Holiday Ole & BOGO Free Ticket Deal

Junior League of Albuquerque Holiday OleEvery year, the Junior League of Albuquerque hosts the Holiday Olé festive shopping extravaganza. The good news is: you can get
two Holiday Ole tickets for the price of one at the link if you purchase tickets in a limited time deal. The better news: proceeds benefit local charities.

I was just about to write a post about the 2012 Junior League of Albuquerque Holiday Olé on Sunday November 18, when I spotted this two Holiday Ole ticket deal – oh serendipity! Especially as the regular ticket price has increased this year to $10 each so the Living Social offer to get two tickets for the price of one is a no-brainer at $10 for two tickets or $20 for four tickets.

More than four people going holiday shopping? It’s fine to buy multiple sets of tickets, although of course that works better if you have an even number in your party, as the half price tickets are sold in pairs.

Holiday Ole is on Sunday, November 18 at Hotel Albuquerque, and usually features all kinds of artsy craftsy stuff, toys, jewelry, cosmetics, and other gifts and Christmas stocking stuffers from Albuquerque retailers. Shop Olé runs from 11 am to 4 pm, and Bebe Olé is from 2 pm to 5 pm, with Santa Claus and holiday activities.

Regular priced tickets are $10 if you miss the current BOGO free ticket deal, and tots under age 2 go free.

Holiday Ole will also hold a brunch with a guest panel at 10 am, and tickets for that (available from the Junior League of Albuquerque website) cost $50, which includes admission to shopping and Santa too, and brunch tix must be purchased in advance as none will be available at the door. No deals on brunch – sorry! :-)

Junior League of Albuquerque Holiday Olé 2012 will be held:

    • When:  Sunday November 18
    • Time:  Shopping from 11 am to 4 pm, and Bebe Olé with Santa from 2 pm to 5 pm.
    • Where: Hotel Albuquerque
    • Price: $10 regular admission, or nab the limited time Living Social Deal for 2 tickets for $10 or 4 tickets for $20. Free admission for kids aged under 2.

Hotel Albuquerque is located just north of Old Town at 800 Rio Grande Boulevard NW

Half Off Albuquerque Maize Maze

October 5, 2012 by
Filed under Attractions, Half Off Deals, Kids

Get up to 50% off Albuquerque Maize Maze admission in a limited time deal. You have to buy the discount maze admission online at the link by Sunday, and then visit the maze through October 14.

The Rio Grande Community Farm 7-acre corn maze leaps is cut into a frog shape this year, and for a limited time you can get what’s basically a buy-one-get-one-free deal on adult admission with this Albuquerque Maize Maze Groupon deal:

  • $7 for two people to go to the corn maze (up to a $14 value)
  • $14 for four people to go to the corn maze (up to a $28 value)

Usual admission to the 2012 maze is $7 for adults (aged 12+), $5 for kids aged 3-11, and it’s free for kids aged 2 and under. So clearly you get the best 50% off return on the discount deal if you use the admission for adults aged 12+, and pay separately for your kids. But even if one adult and one child goes, you’re saving $5.

The Maize Maze deal is available now, and you need to use the admissions by October 14, 2012. The maze is open on Friday to Sunday only, so that means a visit this weekend or next.

PLUS: If you pick up the Leap ‘n Maze leaflet while you’re at the maze (like I did) and get it stamped, you can get a Buy One Get One Free BioPark admission, valid until December 31, 2012.

I’ve already posted about the Albuquerque Maize Maze and all the details of what’s happening there, so you can check out that post and also see readers’ comments with feedback on the maze.

ABQ Trolley Ten Buck Tour & Breaking Bad Tour

Comments Off on ABQ Trolley Ten Buck Tour & Breaking Bad Tour

The final ABQ Trolley Co $10 tour for the 2012 season is coming up, so if you haven’t taken the ride this summer, here’s how to save on this uniquely Albuquerque experience.

The discounted Albuquerque trolley tour is called the Ten Buck Tour, offering more than 50% off the usual adult ticket tour price of $25.   The $10 ticket includes tax, and the narrated tour includes fun Albuquerque trivia and prizes from local businesses.

The final one this year is on Saturday September 22, 2012, at 3:30 pm, and tickets go on sale on Monday September 10 at 10 am. These discounted $10 tours sell out fast so buy Ten Buck Tour tickets online in advance. Tell them that you heard about it at ABQ on the Cheap!

They say the tour is geared towards Duke City residents, but visitors are welcome too – in fact, I reckon it could be even more fun for visitors to hang out with locals on the trip! The customized open-air trolley leaves from Old Town and takes you through Downtown, along Route 66 through Nob Hill, and around Barelas, Tingley Beach and more.

ALBUQUERQUE TROLLEY BREAKING BAD TOUR

The new ABQ Trolley Co. Breaking Bad tour has received a lot of media attention. I’ve been reading about the ‘BaD Tour’ everywhere – a three hour, narrated tour of Breaking Bad locations.  If you’ve heard the BaD buzz too, then tickets go on sale on Monday September 10 at 10 am for the final tour dates of the season:

  • Sunday September 30 at 3:30 pm
  • Tuesday October 9 at 3 pm

These aren’t On the Cheap ticket prices. The tours cost $60 per person, although Breaking Bad fans might consider that a deal for a Breaking Bad fest, touring Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s Albuquerque (the exteriors only) and including trivia and prizes from Albuquerque businesses.  The BaD tours sell out quickly, but you’d better NOT call Saul! Get tickets online to the Breaking Bad trolley tour.
