25% Off New Jeans In Exchange For Your Used Jeans

February 4, 2013 by

This is the kind of deal I like: It saves you money and warms your heart – or warms your buns in this case. Donate a pair of jeans to help an Albuquerque area homeless shelter or charity, and receive 25% off a new pair.

Aéropostale’s sixth annual Teens for Jeans campaign gives you 25% off new jeans, when you drop off your own gently worn jeans at one of their stores by February 10, 2013.  (Don’t take the Dropping Off part too literally – it’s probably best not to wear them TO the store.)

Jeans can be any brand and any size (larger sizes are definitely in demand in shelters) but all should be in good condition. As a reward for your good deed, you get 25% off a new pair at Aéropostale.

You can donate more than one pair, and you’ll receive a 25% discount coupon for each pair.  They’re not taking any other clothing donations – this deal is just jeans!  Aéropostale distributes the jeans to a local homeless shelter or charity in their network. The overall aim is to help homeless teens, but you don’t have to be a teen to join in.

Start sorting out your closet! Teens for Jeans runs till February 10, 2013, and this is a national promotion at all stores. Take your jeans to Albuquerque Aéropostale stores at Coronado Center and Cottonwood Mall.

If you want to contribute but don’t care about the discount, you can also donate your jeans at Albuquerque BioPark  during business hours. Leave your old jeans in one of the collection boxes at the administration offices at the Albuquerque Zoo or the Aquarium and Botanic Garden. (No need to pay the BioPark admission just to drop items off at the offices.) Los Lunas Middle School is leading that denim drive and depending on how many pairs of jeans they collect they could also win funds for the school.

Comments Off on The Limited 50% Off Dresses & Jewelry Flash Sale: August 29

50% off The Limited dresses and jewelry sale today from 5 pm with the promo code or in stores!

Well ladies, they say you can never be too rich or too thin. Personally I think you can never have too much Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in the freezer, but that’s probably why I’ll never manage the ‘too thin’ part. (I’ve long ago given up hope of being too rich.) Also, I reckon you can never have too many frocks or too much BLING,
I mean tasteful jewelry, so today’s 50% off deal at The Limited grabbed my glittering eye.

Today, Wednesday August 29 from 5 pm only, The Limited’s Fashion Frenzy sale gives 50% off all dresses and jewelry either in store, or shopping online at The Limited using the promo code: FRENZY

The info came by email from The Limited so I don’t have a link for you, just shop in store from 5 pm till closing, or online with the promo code FRENZY from 5 pm to midnight.  (If you’re one of our readers from outside New Mexico and on a different time zone, those times from 5 pm are valid for your local time wherever you are.)

The 50% discount is on the original ticket prices only, and is not valid on markdowns.

Finally, here’s a reminder that The Limited offers a teacher and student 15% discount every day in stores. You need to take your student or educator ID and the 15% off is only good in shops, not online.

The Limited in Albuquerque is located in the Cottonwood Mall.

Educators and students receive a 15% discount at The Limited women’s fashion store.

The discount for teachers and students is valid on purchases made in stores. They don’t exactly shout about it, it’s hidden away in the Frequently Asked Questions on their website under The Limited Promotions, so you have to know to ask for it. Now you know, so ask for it!

You need to take your student or educator ID and the 15% off is only good in stores, not online. It also can’t be combined with other coupons. There’s no expiry date – this is an ongoing promotion.

Free Haircuts for Kids

Comments Off on Free Haircuts for Kids

Here are two ways to get a free haircut for kids this month, just in time for back-to-school. If you know of any other kids’ freebies, tell us in the comment box below or drop me an email.

I’ve heard rumor that hair is supposed to grow faster in summer. Whether that’s true or not, these freebies are a snip to save dollars on kids’ haircuts before their bangs grow so long they’re walking into furniture.

Get a free haircut for kids at JCP Salons in the month of August 2012, for children in grades K – 6.  No coupon is needed, just make an appointment in stores or call 855-JCP-KIDS and mention the free haircut deal. (And please remember to tip even though the cut is free! The stylist will love you for it.) In Albuquerque, JCP Salons are in the JC Penney Stores at Cottonwood Mall and Coronado Center.

Underprivileged children can get a free haircut at the Kutz for Kidz Back to School event on August 12, 2012, as well as free school supplies!  (Advance registration required.) The Albuquerque Police Department teams up with local hairdressers to give children a professional free haircut, as well as backpacks, and school supplies. They also give kids a chance to meet law enforcement officers with demonstrations of APD’s Specialized Units. What’s more they’ll serve free drinks and BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs, and host appearances from UFC fighters and local athletes. Good for the APD for putting this together, and to the hairdressers volunteering their time!

Note that you need to register in advance for Kutz for Kidz and the free event is for underprivileged kids and youth. We have no information on what qualifies as underprivileged, or any age limits, but contact information is at their website. Kutz for Kidz is on Sunday August 12 from from 9 am to 6 pm at the APD Training Academy, 5412 2nd Street NW.

Free Dr Seuss Event: February 18

Comments Off on Free Dr Seuss Event: February 18

Celebrating 75 years of Dr. Seuss with free fun for kids this Saturday, February 18, 2012.

Cottonwood Mall is throwing a bit of a Dr. Seuss party on February 18 from 1 – 3 pm in the Center Court.
It’s part of Simon Malls’ national celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Dr. Seuss book And To Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street.

The 75 Years of Imagination event is free, and you can meet a Cat in the Hat character, take part in activities including a mini parade and decorate your own parade hat, listen to story time with readings of Dr. Seuss children’s books top picks, and watch an episode of PBS’s Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!

They’re also promising activity booklets, prizes, and goody bags… I’m just picturing the kids having to argy-bargy with nostalgic adults to get at the goodies first :-)

You don’t have to be a member of the Simon Malls Kidgits Club to attend – the Dr. Seuss event is free and open to all. But if your kids want to join the Kidgits Club at a $5 annual membership fee including a t-shirt and toy, look out for the table on site to get info and sign up.

Can’t make it this Saturday? Bookworks will hold a Dr. Seuss Birthday celebration on Friday March 2, starting at 2 pm.

And here’s my tribute to Dr. Seuss during Valentine’s week:

Mr Cheap
Cannot keep
His pennies in his pocket.
He spends them all on Mrs Cheap…
And she truly loves him forrit.

Dreadful, huh? Can you do better?
