Comfort Dental offers free dental care to anyone in need on the 31st annual Care Day, Wednesday December 24, 2014.

Yeah, going to the dentist is the last thing anyone wants to do on Christmas Eve.  But it’s tough paying those dental bills and I hate the thought of anyone – especially kids – missing out on dental care for lack of funds.   These dentist angels from Comfort Dental are volunteering their time and services to provide assistance and relief to those who can’t afford regular dental attention.

Comfort Dental Care’s free dental treatment on Wednesday December 24 is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, from 7:30 am – 11:30 am.  The free clinics are intended to provide basic dental care from cleanings to extractions. More serious problems will be handled according to the discretion of the dentist.

Comfort Dental offices in eleven states are participating, including Comfort Dental New Mexico, at these Albuquerque Comfort Dental locations.

In 2013, Care Day provided $1.5 million in free dental care services to nearly 5000 patients nationally.  As VP Dr. Neil Norton says: “There are a lot of families out there who just can’t afford dental care, and this is their only dental visit all year.” It’s best to arrive early.

Thanks to the tooth fairies at Comfort Dental for working on Christmas Eve, and for donating this gift of free dental care to the community.  Find all the info on Comfort Dental free Care Day at the link.

Comfort Dental offices in nine states are participating, including Comfort Dental New Mexico, at these Albuquerque Comfort Dental locations.

In 2010, Care Day gave $2 million in free dental services, and as the economy is so very challenging these days, they expect large crowds for 2011. As VP Dr. Neil Norton says: “There are a lot of families out there who just can’t afford dental care, and this is their only dental visit all year.” It’s best to arrive early.

Halloween Candy Buy Back

Comments Off on Halloween Candy Buy Back

Halloween candy is great… in moderate quantities.  I can barely believe I just wrote that, being such a sweet tooth. I have chocolate stashed all over the house, and just this week found a mini chocolate egg in my desk drawer that I must have stowed away at Easter, in case of chocolate emergency.

But after Halloween is over, if the kids are laden down more Trick or Treat candy than you know what to do with, they can trade the candy for cash… all for a good cause.

In the Halloween Candy Great Candy Trade In by Comfort Dental on Tuesday November 1, 2011, kids can take their candy to participating Comfort Dental dentists, and receive $1 for every pound of candy. The locations for the five Albuquerque dentists  in the Candy Trade In are listed at the website of our friends over at 100.3 The Peak. We understand that the candy is sent in a partnership with Blue Star Moms to troops stationed overseas.

The national Halloween Candy Buy Back program also includes some Albuquerque dentists. Dates for these may vary by dentist, and the swap value of the candy can vary too – dentists might offer cash, coupons, or other types of prizes. The candy is sent via Operation Gratitude or a similar group in care packages to deployed military.

We know that Alegre Dental (2116 Vista Oeste NW #202) is one of the dentists participating in the Halloween Candy Buy Back, offering $1 per pound of candy to a maximum of five pounds. Find other dentists in the Halloween Candy Buy Back by plugging in your zip code.

Happy ghost hunting, and I guess this gives everyone an even greater incentive to stash up on yet more Halloween candy when trick or treating!
