Albuquerque’s 2012 Ultimate Home Showcase takes place on March 17-18, with several ways to get discount admission or maybe even free admission!

The Ultimate Home Showcase home show at Expo New Mexico on March 17-18, 2012, includes the International Green Ideas Show and the Construction and Architectural Suppliers Show, with exhibitors showing ideas for home design and decor, remodeling, sustainable lifestyle and energy, and green technology.

Regular admission to the show is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors over 65 and kids aged 13-18. Admission is free for children aged 12 and under.  But here’s how to get discount or even free admission:

  • Print this BOGO coupon to get two admissions for the price of one, via New Mexico Market Place (or just pick up a copy of NM Market Place to get the coupon!)
  • Get $3 off adult admission using the coupon at the Ultimate Home Showcase website, or here’s the direct link to the PDF $3 off coupon.
  • Free admission for seniors on Sunday morning (no coupon needed).
  • Free admission for bike riders and for those who take the bus and show a receipt or pass.
  • Pay $1 for admission if you take a computer for recycling.

The show has a bit of a St. Patrick’s Day theme going for kids, with a visit by the leprechaun Sir Hugh Elliott (sounds like a very leprechauny name) on Saturday March 17 from 10 am to 3 pm, when he’ll be telling stories and giving out chocolate coins. Anyone dressed as a leprechaun or other nature spirit or sporting a British Isle theme costume can get a professional free photo taken!

Other fun activities include a scavenger hunt, hydrogen-powered car races, a PNM giveaway of compact florescent light bulbs, and a lasso demonstration.

Stephanie Kaylan of Wanagi Wolf Fund and Rescue will also be at the show on Sunday March 18 from 10 am to 4 pm with a couple of her wolves.

Ultimate Home Showcase takes place:

  • When:  March 17-18, 2012
  • Time:  Saturday 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday 10 am – 4 pm
  • Where: Expo New Mexico, Manuel Lujan Buildings A and B.

The Expo New Mexico parking fee is usually $5. I believe the Ultimate Home Showcase used to be called the Albuquerque’s Home Builders & Remodelers Showcase; all these home shows seem to be changing their names this year!

New Mexico State Fair Buy One Get One Free Admission

Comments Off on New Mexico State Fair Buy One Get One Free Admission

The New Mexico State Fair 2011 is in its last week here in Albuquerque. The State Fair’s final day is September 25, and if you missed our earlier posts, here are some ways to nab a deal before the State Fair fun is over for another year.

On Wednesday 21 September you can get Buy One Get One Free admission to the NM State Fair. When you purchase a ticket at the regular price, they’ll give you a second ticket of equal or lesser value totally free.

Save $5 on daily ride wristbands on Wednesday and Thursday, when the ride wristbands are $15, instead of the usual $20 for wristbands every other day. Buy them at the fair at Murphy Bros. booths.

You can also get Buy One Get One Free admission on any day, using the Creamland Dairy Coupon on Creamland milk cartons.

If you have a super-large family or an awful lot of people you’d like to gnaw turkey legs with, a group of 25 or more gets a hefty discount. Contact the box office for info:  (505) 222-9707

Regular admission for the NM State Fair is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (aged 62+) and $5 for children aged 6 to 12. Children under 5 get in free

The final New Mexico State Fair food promotion by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture offers a free food tasting, and the chance to find out more about our fabulous New Mexico agricultural industry.

The New Mexico state vegetables promotion on Saturday September 24 is from 12 noon – 3 pm in the Agriculture Building Courtyard.  Taste pinto beans and chile to keep your engine stoked at the fair. We have two designated state vegetables because…. because why should we restrict ourselves to one? Apparently the 1965 state legislature agreed, and decided that chile and frijoles are inseparable. Like Brangelina. Only less weird. And you can trust a bowl of beans and chile not to run off with your husband.

Parking at the State Fair Grounds is $7, although some parking lots just outside the grounds may charge less…. and others may charge more. So look around for the best parking deal before hitching your wagon.

The New Mexico State Fair is held at Albuquerque’s EXPO New Mexico State Fair Grounds.

New Mexico State Fair Buy One Get One Free Admission

The 2011 New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque runs to September 25, and if you missed our earlier posts, here are some ways to save on State Fair admission.

Admission for the NM State Fair is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (aged 62+) and $5 for children aged 6 to 12. Children under 5 get in free

BUT today Wednesday 14 September they’re offering Buy One Get One Free admission. When you buy a ticket at regular price, they’ll give you a second ticket of equal or lesser value totally free.

The BOGO free deal will also run on Wednesday 21 September.

Other ways to save at the State Fair:

  • Creamland Dairy Coupon: Buy One Get One Free admission on any day, using the coupon on Creamland milk cartons.
  • Find 24 Friends:  If you have a super-large family or an awful lot of people you’d like to go gnaw turkey legs with, a group of 25 or more gets a hefty discount. Contact the box office for info:  (505) 222-9707
  • Two for One Rodeo-Concert Tickets: While at the State Fair, buy a copy of the Albuquerque Journal containing the Journal’s Fair Deal coupon book. You’ll find two for the price of one Rodeo-Concert tickets for remaining seats.
  • Daily Ride Wristbands: On Wednesdays and Thursdays, daily ride wristbands are $15. On Friday through Sunday you’ll pay $20. Buy them at the fair at Murphy Bros. booths.

New Mexico State Fair food events and promotions by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture include free food tastings of all kinds of locally grown delicacies, and the chance to find out more about our fabulous New Mexico agricultural industry. All events will be held in the Agriculture Building Courtyard, and on the roster this week we have:

  • Saturday, September 17:  Battle of the Salsas from 1 – 3 pm. This is a people’s choice award, which means you get to sample some of the New Mexico salsas and make your vote. Oh dear, how can I decide? Can I just try that one again??? A press release from the NMDA says there will be a new surprise in 2011 for this popular event, but they won’t say what it is. My guess is salsa dancing, but that’s only a very wild guess.
  • Sunday September 18: New Mexico organic food promotion from 10 am – 1 pm. Apparently organic farming in New Mexico is a $67 million industry. I’m not totally surprised as I think I alone spend nearly that much each week at the farmer’s market. (Mr Cheap requires a lot of feeding.) Anyway, the NMDA will be grilling up organic fruits and vegetables for you to taste, and when you’re not digging in, you can also chat with some organic produce farmers, and see the new Certified Organic by NMDA logo to help identify organic goodies in stores.

Parking at the State Fair Grounds is $7, although some parking lots just outside the grounds charged less ($5) last year. Others charged more ($10) so look around for the best parking deal before hitching your wagon.

The fair and rides will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays this year, although agricultural contests will continue to take place on those days, and the public is welcome to attend.

The New Mexico State Fair is held at Albuquerque’s EXPO New Mexico State Fair Grounds.

The 2011 New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque runs from September 9 to 25, with the NM State Fair Parade on Saturday September 10.

Admission for the NM State Fair is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors (aged 62+) and $5 for children aged 6 to 12. Children under 5 get in free

  • Friday September 9:  Admission is a bargain $2 on the State Fair opening day, for any age.
  • Saturday September 10:  During the New Mexico State Fair Parade, officials will mosey along the route and give away around 5,000 free 2011 State Fair admission tickets.  ***Update: Just received another press release from NM State Fair saying they’re giving out 5,000 free CHILD tickets, although the original didn’t make that distinction and they didn’t recall their previous bulletin. So maybe it’s 5,000 for adults and 5,000 for kids, or maybe it’s just for kids. Either way, turn up and look hopeful and you may score a free ticket! The parade starts at 8:45 am at the corner of Louisiana and Central, heading east along Central to Eubank. It ends about three years later. (It’s a jolly long parade!)

Cliff’s Amusement Park: BOGO Free for Educators

Comments Off on Cliff’s Amusement Park: BOGO Free for Educators

Cliff’s Amusement Park has a great buy one get one free deal for educators for the last weekend in August 2011.

UPDATE: This 2011 offer has now expired and links in this post removed. See the current Cliffs Amusement Park Half Off Ride Pass 2012 post for the 50% off coupon in summer 2012.

A teacher, TA, professor or principal can get one free Cliff’s Amusement Park ride pass when you buy one regular price all day ride pass. You can work for any educational institution, but you must show your ID. The deal is good for the rest of August 2011, which effectively means Saturday and Sunday August 27 and 28, as those are the only two days that Cliff’s Amusement Park is open for the rest of this month.  As far as I can see there are no excluded days in the BOGO free Cliff’s deal for educators.  A ride pass includes admission, and unlimited rides all day.

If you’re not an educator, or even if you are and you like this deal better 😉 there is one more day to use the printable coupon for 50% off a Cliff’s Amusement Park ride pass we’ve told you about several times this summer. Of the qualifying days to use the half off Cliff’s pass, the final one this month is Sunday August 28. It’s NOT valid on Saturday. Right click at the above link to print the coupon, or go directly to the PDF file of the same Cliff’s coupon.

The 50% off Cliff’s coupon is good for one ride pass and saves you up to around $12 (depending on height). The coupon offer comes via KOAT-TV, 100.3 The Peak, and Lite 95.1.

Cliff’s Amusement Park, previously known as Uncle Cliff’s, is one of Albuquerque’s favorite attractions, and there’s only a short time left to the end of this summer season, final opening day is September 18, so take advantage of the Cliff’s deals while you can!

Again, the only dates Cliff’s Amusement Park is open through the rest of this month is August 27 and 28. Find all Cliff’s summer 2011 opening hours.

Cliff’s Amusement Park is located at 4800 Osuna Rd NE.

Comments Off on ABQ’S Playroom Spring Break 2 for 1

ABQ’S Playroom is a center for children’s play, kids’ birthday parties, and programs in music, art and development. And possibly a few Albuquerque parents will fall down on their knees with thanks as they’re offering a two-for-the-price-of-one-deal to amuse the kids during spring break.  If you only have one child, here’s where you team up with a neighbor!

From Tuesday March 15 through Friday March 18 2011,  you can take two children for the price of one to
ABQ’s Playroom Open Play sessions.  The 2 for 1 offer isn’t mentioned on their website at time of writing, ABQ’s Playroom dropped us a note about it.

That makes the price:

  • Members: Two children play for $6
  • Non-members: Two children play for $8

Open Play is for children aged from 12 months to 9 years, and youngsters must be accompanied by a parent. Each Open Play session can last up to 3 hours, and the hours are between 10 am and 5 pm.

You might also want to make a diary note for ABQ’s Playroom Spring Fling event on March 27, from 4 – 6 pm. As well as Open Play, Buz Lightyear will pay a visit, and there will be info on spring music and art classes, birthday party packages, Stay-n-Play Pajama parties, summer promotions, and an offer for summer family Open Play passes.  Spring Fling admission is $5 for members, $7 for non-members.

I’m working too hard this week and could do with some open play myself…

ABQ’s Playroom is located at 8850 Holly Ave NE, Suite C, on the corner of Paseo del Norte and Ventura, in the Bed Bath & Beyond shopping center.
