Enjoy a free entree at Prairie Star Restaurant through March 31 with the coupon! And find out when to get a three course meal and wine for two for only $60. Or just nosh on half price appetizers every Tuesday through Thursday during happy hour.

Prairie Star Restaurant and Wine Bar is located in a lovely old adobe at the Santa Ana Golf Club, and from now through March 31, 2010, you can get a free entree with the purchase of another entree using this Prairie Star free entree coupon. Maximum two coupons per table, and the freebie must be of equal or lesser value than the dish you pay for.

Plus, every Tuesday through Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm, nosh on half price appetizers  in the Prairie Star wine bar, with offerings such as oven roasted blue crab cakes, wild boar slider, and cheese platter. Choose from over 50 wines by the glass or half-glass to wash down your happy hour apps. No coupons required, and no reservations needed at the wine bar.

Finally, Wednesday Wine & Dine nights offer a two-dine-for-$60 deal, with two salads, two entrees, dessert for two AND a bottle of wine thrown in, for just $60. That sounds like a deal to me. Wednesdays only, reservations recommended, no coupon needed, and this deal is not valid with any other offer.

If you love Day of the Dead art, this is the expo for you.

If you love Day of the Dead art, this is the expo for you.

Why celebrate Día de los Muertos only once a year when you can celebrate it all year long? That’s the philosophy behind the Arté de Muertos Expo, held three times a year.

If you’re a Day of the Dead aficionado, check out the expo this Saturday and Sunday, November 7 and 8 (2009), from 9:00am – 5:00pm both days. Admission and parking are FREE!

The expo features all manner of Day of the Dead folk and fine art, but they have a bunch of other stuff, too, like shadow boxes, jewelry, wood carvings, ceramics, and wind chimes. Most of the art is exhibited by the maker, so you can chat directly with the artists as you browse. Also on hand will be paranormal metaphysical experts willing to share their knowledge. Artist demonstrations, live music, and a book signing by Antonio Garcez round out the event.

The Arté de Muertos Expo will be held at Santa Ana Star Casino, Santa Ana Pueblo, NM. Take I-25 north to US 550 and head west. You’ll see it. More info: (505) 771-3307.

Buy any size Classic Italian, Turkey Ranch & Swiss, Mesquite Chicken, or Traditional sub — in any size — and get an identical (size and recipe) sub for $1. It’s called the Toasty Toasty promotion, and it’s good “for a limited time.” Quiznos has 22 stores throughout New Mexico, including 13 in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas, and Bernalillo.
  • $2 milkshake: This deal’s simple enough: buy a burger (or a veggie burger), get a shake for $2. If that’s not great enough, it’s at Flying Star. ‘Nuff said. Here’s a coupon for the Bernalillo location, or print this coupon good at any location. Nine locations, including one in Santa Fe, to serve you.
  • $5.99 lunch: Applebee’s is resurrecting the classic soup-n-salad combo as part of its “Pick’N Pair” lunch  menu. Choose two items from select soups, salads, and sandwiches to create your own combo. There’s also a pasta option. Total price: $5.99. Available Monday – Friday until 3:00pm. Eight Applebee’s locations around Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.
  • 99¢ Chillers: If you’re willing to give Sonic your e-mail address, they’re willing to send you a coupon good for a 99¢ Chiller. For those not in the know, a “Chiller ” is classic or flavored limeade blended with vanilla ice cream. Oh, yeah. One coupon per e-mail address. Chillers not included in Sonic’s vaunted Happy Hour. By the way, Sonic also is offering a free Route 44 upgrade for any numbered combo meal order. Just so’s ya know.
  • $2 cold beverage: Props to loyal fan Barb for tipping us to this! Stay cool this summer by taking advantage of the StarbucksTreat Receipt” promotion. Make a Starbucks purchase before 2:00pm any day and then return the same day after 2:00pm with your receipt to get a grande sized cold drink for just $2! Personally, we like the hand-shaken black iced tea, but that’s just us. Participating locations only. We understand the baristas are pretty good about clueing you in to this promotion. Valid through 9/30/09. Ten Starbucks locations in the Albuquerque area.
  • Free entrée salad: Salad lovers, rejoice! Denny’s is offering this promotion: buy any entrée plus two beverages and get a free entrée salad! Choose from Cranberry Pecan Chicken, Baja Chicken, and Prime Rib & Bleu. Enjoy. Valid through 8/9/09. Seven Denny’s restaurants in Albuquerque.
  • Free appetizer or $5 off: Invite friends to party at T.G.I. Friday’s and score a free Jack Daniels® Sampler Platter appetizer! You do have to fork over your e-mail address and that of your friend(s), and there’s no privacy policy explanation on the party site, so proceed at your own risk. On the plus side, you can schedule parties as often as you like and get a free appetizer each time! Or, if you’re more of a privacy freak, you can simply print this coupon for $5 off each additional entrée for every friend you bring to dine with you. The coupon’s good for up to 10 people (!), so party on, dudes. Valid at participating locations through 8/31/09. These offers are not combinable, wise guy. There’s just one T.G.I. Friday’s location in Albuquerque, and it’s over by Cottonwood Mall.

Well, that’s it for this week. Have a great weekend!

Little Doggy Doo Doo has this special deal for our readers: Get one week FREE dog waste removal when you sign up for 4 weeks. Fab!

This service is pretty doggone cheap, anyway. Just $8.99 per week for up to 2 dogs. Additional dogs are $2 each. You can start service by calling 550-0773. Be sure to tell the nice folks at Little Doggy Doo Doo that ABQ on the Cheap sent you! Note they serve Bernalillo and Sandoval counties only.

Who knew Osuna Nursery also carries gourmet goodies?

Who knew Osuna Nursery also carries gourmet goodies?

Got a sweet tooth? A yen for fish? Or simply a yen for “cheap”? We’ve got all three covered!

  • Free Baja Fish Taco Day: Well, yo-ho-ho and a baja fish taco! On Tuesday, July 14 (2009), sail on over to Long John Silver’s before 2:30pm to score a free fish taco. No coupon required, no rigamarole. Limit one per customer. Participating locations only. Nine LJS locations in New Mexico to serve you. (Thanks, Barb!)
  • $10 off: Buca di Beppo offers this coupon for $10 off a $30 purchase. Simple. The offer looks to be good on carryout, as well as dine in, since the coupon doesn’t limit the offer. Valid through 7/21/09. There’s one Buca in the Q, and it’s over by Coronado Center.
  • Free food tasting: Who knew Osuna Nursery did gourmet foods? We didn’t. But they’re hosting a tasting Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, from 11:00am – 3:00pm both days. Sample Jalapeño Candied Jelly from Third Coast Gourmet & Gifts, soup mixes from The Plentiful Pantry, and Artisan Chocolate Fudge Balls from Cocopotamus. Yum! In the North Valley near Osuna and Edith.
  • Free pint of Starbucks ice cream (maybe): We added the caveat because this is a giveaway through Facebook. So, first, you have to be able to log in to Facebook (thereby eliminating everyone who doesn’t use the site). Second, they’re only giving away 800 coupons per hour (sounds like a lot, until you figure how many thousands of people are vying for them). Still, if you’re into the thrill of the chase or you just can’t live without Starbucks ice cream, this may be worth a shot! Every day through 7/19/09.
  • Free wine tasting: Jubilation Wine & Spirits has been hosting several beer tastings lately, but finally here’s one for wine lovers. Tomorrow, 7/11/09, from 2:00 – 4:00pm, stop by Jubilation to taste “wines that are best to drink in the summer heat.” Varieties will include orvietos, torrontes, pinot noir, malbec, a sparkling wine, and several others. Located near UNM at Lomas & Carlisle.
  • BOGO Sub: Check out this coupon for BOGO Quizno’s sub sandwich. Buy one combo meal, get a second sub free! Note it’s good only at the 4411 Montaño Rd location.
  • Half off dinner: Here’s one for our amigos en el valle sur. Kathy’s Carryout is legendary! Use this coupon for 50% off second dinner with the purchase of one dinner and two drinks. ¡Qué rico!
  • Half off beverages: We know some of our Twitter followers are Bad Ass Coffee Co. devotees, so here’s one for them. Use this coupon for half off hot, iced, or frozen blended drink with purchase of another. Scroll down the page for other Bad Ass Coffee Co. coupons, too! Located up in Bernalillo.

Hopefully that list, along with the separate post about all the breakfast foodaliciousness occuring at Chick-fil-A will hold you until next week!

Residents and visitors (aka tourists) alike love our state’s many Spanish and Indian Markets, and this weekend, you can enjoy the FREE, juried Bernalillo Spanish Art Market. Whet your appetite (and score some great art!) before the Big Event in Santa Fe later this summer.

Start with a free artist reception tonight (Friday, June 19, 2009) from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Meet special guest Beatrice Maestas Sandoval, a Chimayo weaver, along with the artisans of Los Ranchos de Las Golondrinas.

Continue on Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, from 10:00am – 5:00pm each day, when you can view fantastic art in many media and enjoy demonstrations in Colcha, straw appliqué, weaving, and spinning. Plus, since the market is sponsored by the Old Town Shoppes of Bernalillo, we bet you can find great food, drink, and shopping.

Head for the town of Bernalillo, NM, just north of Albuquerque, and we’ll bet you can find Old Town once you get there. Or just ask a passerby. They’re friendly.
