Mommy’s Market: September 11

Albuquerque children’s consignment sale this Saturday – you can’t consign the kids, but you might pick up a bargain!

Change of season, change of clothes… but kids are changing all the time. (Did ya notice?)
The Mommy’s Market  fall consignment sale on September 11 could be just the place to find gently used kids’ clothing up to children’s size 14 and save a few bucks on dressing the offspring both for the new season and their new size. Plus the sale includes maternity wear, children’s furniture, toys, and equipment for moms, kids and babies. Admission is $1 – assuming you find even one thing to buy you’ll save that dollar many times over.

Judging by the guidelines for sellers, Mommy’s Market has pretty high standards and sale items must be in good shape and washed prior to the event, so it shouldn’t be a game of ‘spot-the-rip’. Just a game of ‘grab the bargain’.

Better still, they clear any remaining items at half price at the end of the day. So take your pick – early birds probably get the best worms, later birds save more on what’s left.

  • When: Saturday September 11, 2010
  • Time: 8 am – 3:00 pm
Half Price Sale from 3:30 – 5 pm
  • Where: Berean Baptist Church, 3800 Eubank Blvd NE, at Eubank/Montgomery
  • Price: $1 admission

Mommy’s Market takes place twice a year, fall and spring, and you can sign up to consign your own gear too.

Tonight: 30% off Clothing at Thrift Town

We here at Cheap Central are dyed-in-the-wool thrifters. Even when on vacation, we can’t resist checking out all the local thrift shops. Let’s just say it out loud: We’re thriftaholics.

If you love thrifting, too, then you’re gonna be jazzed about this promotion from Thrift Town: Take 30% off clothing every Monday in August (2009) from 6:00 – 8:00pm only, during their Moonlight Madness sale! (Excludes color tag items, which are already 50% off.)

Think about what this means for back-to-school shopping on a budget!

And for those who are concerned about the fact Thrift Town is a for-profit enterprise (when there are so many worthy non-profit thrift stores in Albuquerque), you can breathe easier knowing that Albuquerque’s Thrift Town partners with The ARC of New Mexico, donating gently used clothing and household items for the charity to sell at its own stores. Hey, there’s plenty of thrift store merchandise to go around.

Thrift Town is open Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 8:00pm; Saturday, 10:00am – 7:00pm; and Sunday, 10:00am – 6:00pm. In Albuquerque, Thrift Town is located at 3900 Menaul NE, just east of Carlisle.
