I’ve mentioned ASUNM Southwest Film Center before as they sometimes give free movie screenings. Here’s a reminder that even without a freebie, tickets are still a good deal.

ASUNM Southwest Film Center is a student run, independent theater on the University of New Mexico Campus, and movies are open to the public as well as to UNM students and staff.

Ticket prices are $5 for the public, $3 for UNM students, and $4 for UNM faculty and staff. You can also get a $15 student season pass or $20 general season pass.

The current 2015 film season, shown on Thursdays through Sundays, include:

  • Telluride Mountain Film Festival (February 13 and 14)
  • Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times (February 26-March 1)
  • Toy Story (March 26-29) kids get in free with a paying adult
  • East of Eden (April 2-5) come celebrate the 60th anniversary of this film
  • Birdman (April 16-19)

Movies vary widely and there are many more in the series, I’m just picking out the ones I like the sound of! See the full ASUNM Southwest Film Center schedule.

The ASUNM Southwest Film Center is located on the lower level of UNM’s Student Union Building. Enter from Central Avenue as if going to Popejoy Hall, then go past Popejoy and it’s the next block on the left.

See a free screening of Muppet Treasure Island at several show times between January 26-29, 2012.

ASUNM Southwest Film Center is a student run, independent theater on the University of New Mexico Campus, and movies are open to the public as well as the UNM students and staff.

Avast, me hearties! Because this week they’re showing eight free screenings of Brian Henson’s
Muppet Treasure Island, between Thursday January 26 and Sunday January 29.

I sometimes find that Mr Cheap and I have a lot in common with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. I’ll leave you to guess which is which.

The free screenings of Muppet Treasure Island are on:

  • Thursday January 26, Friday January 27, and Saturday January 28 at 6 pm and 8 pm
  • Sunday January 29  at 1 pm and 3 pm

For the rest of the ASUNM Southwest Film Center season, shown on Thursdays through Sundays, tickets are still a cheap deal, at $5 for the public, $3 for UNM students, and $4 for UNM faculty and staff. You can also get a $15 student season pass or $20 general season pass.

Movies vary widely, with upcoming films including The Gold Rush and Annie Hall. See the full ASUNM Southwest Film Center schedule.
