Albuquerque Little Theatre celebrates the start of its 83rd season and dedicates a new stage floor. I’ve never seen a stage floor being dedicated before, but there’s a first time for everything and it’s a jolly good excuse for them to throw an open house party!

The Albuquerque Little Theatre Open House on Sunday July 29 from 1 – 4 pm looks like a fun free event for all you thespian types. Or just anyone who enjoys going to the theatre, especially a wonderfully historic one. They’re promising free entertainment and free refreshments, and the chance to meet theatre staff and actors and take a backstage tour.

Some lucky people will also win one of four gift baskets that pick up on the themes of recent musical productions: The Wizard of Oz, Xanadu, Singin’ In The Rain, and Cabaret.

Plus they’ll have Albuquerque Little Theatre items for sale including plaques made from the old stage floor – the very boards on which many an acting celeb has strutted his or her stuff – as well as bags and their cookbook. I didn’t even know they’d DONE a cookbook.

I don’t have a link for you I’m afraid. They sent the info by email, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Or you can check out the Albuquerque Little Theatre Facebook page where the Open House is also mentioned.

Albuquerque Little Theatre is located at the south side of Old Town: 224 San Pasquale SW.

Comments Off on ABQ Little Theatre Free Pizza: First Responders & Kirtland/Sandia

Albuquerque Little Theatre offers free pizza perks for first responders and Kirtland/Sandia families.

The new production at Albuquerque Little Theatre is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, adapted from the Mark Twain classic. The play features a cast of all ages, and should be a good family show, running on weekends from September 2 – 18, 2011. Tickets are a reasonable $12 for those aged 13+, and $10 for kids aged 12 and under.

Better still, they’re running two special Friday nights with free pizza before the show for first responders, and for military and civilian employees at Kirtland Air Force Base or Sandia National Labs. So if that applies to you, make sure you buy tickets for the Tom Sawyer nights when you’ll get a snack before the play!

  • September 9: Free pizza for Kirtland Air Force Base and Sandia National Labs military and civilian employees and their families before the 7.30 pm show.
  • September 16: Free pizza for first responders and their families before the 7.30 pm show.

In both cases, book tickets at The Albuquerque Little Theatre box office (505-242-4750) and tell them you’re Kirtland/Sandia personnel, or a first responder.

For a sneak peek (or rather a sneak listen), tune into 89.9 KUNM’s Children’s Hour radio program on Saturday September 3 from 9 – 10 am, featuring the Tom Sawyer cast.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer shows are on Fridays at 7.30pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm, through September 18, 2011.

Albuquerque Little Theatre is located at the south side of Old Town: 224 San Pasquale SW.

Well it’s nearly that time again. The Annual Academy Awards, when our most glamorous screen stars get all gussied up, slap on the make-up, polish up the bling, flaunt outlandish hair styles, and preen on the red carpet. (And that’s just the men).

While it’s all very nice to sit at home and admire them/laugh at them and root for our faves, how much more fun to do it in company? And to have an excuse to dress up too?

The Albuquerque Little Theatre is hosting an Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party on February 27, 2011, for star-gazers to watch the Oscars on the big screen.  If you missed our earlier post on this, tickets are currently still available, and they’re a pretty good deal:

  • General admission is $10
  • VIP Admission is $35, including a VIP Lounge, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, plus a cash wine bar.
  • If you buy a pair of VIP tickets, you save $5 each – the price for two is $60.

They’re promising live entertainment on Oscar night, plus raffles and games with prizes, and the Luminaria Awards for our home-grown New Mexico film biz.

Academy Awards Viewing Party

Comments Off on Albuquerque Little Theatre BOGO Ticket Deal

For every $50 you spend at the Albuquerque Little Theatre box office today, Friday November 26, or on Saturday November 27, they’ll give you a buy one get one free voucher for a future purchase of tickets to Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure or Steel Magnolias when you request the Black Friday promotion.

I was a bit confused by the way the Black Friday offer was worded in the email from ALT, wondering if the required $50 spend itself got you a free ticket to those shows, or if it got you a voucher to use next time you make a purchase, so I called the box office to check. They confirmed that the deal is spend $50 and the voucher is for an additional purchase: Use it later to buy a ticket to Sherlock Holmes or Steel Magnolias and you’ll get a free ticket of equal or lesser value. That’s a saving of up to $22.

The deal is only good on November 26-27, 2010, on box office purchases by phone (505-242-4750) or in person, requesting the Black Friday Promotion. It isn’t available via their online ticketing service.

The box office is open until 7 pm today, Friday, and from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday.

Albuquerque Little Theatre is currently selling tickets for shows including:

  • Irving Berlin’s White Christmas: playing till December 24
  • Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure: January 21 – February 6, 2011
  • Steel Magnolias: February 25 – March 13, 2011
  • Charlotte’s Web: April 8 – 17, 2011
  • Hairspray: May 20 – June 12, 2011

Albuquerque Little Theatre is located at 224 San Pasquale SW.

The Rise Up! Performers are: twice Grammy nominee Rahim Alhaj, Soul Kitchen, Asper Kourt, Poema, and Mariachi Mystery Tour. All proceeds go to Direct Relief International to aid Haiti.

Showtime is 7 p.m., Thursday January 28, at the Albuquerque Little Theatre, 224 San Pasquale SW.

Methinks this one will fill fast with folk getting their groove on while helping the cause, so I wouldn’t hang around to nab your $10 concert ticket.
