25% Off New Jeans In Exchange For Your Used Jeans

February 4, 2013 by

This is the kind of deal I like: It saves you money and warms your heart – or warms your buns in this case. Donate a pair of jeans to help an Albuquerque area homeless shelter or charity, and receive 25% off a new pair.

Aéropostale’s sixth annual Teens for Jeans campaign gives you 25% off new jeans, when you drop off your own gently worn jeans at one of their stores by February 10, 2013.  (Don’t take the Dropping Off part too literally – it’s probably best not to wear them TO the store.)

Jeans can be any brand and any size (larger sizes are definitely in demand in shelters) but all should be in good condition. As a reward for your good deed, you get 25% off a new pair at Aéropostale.

You can donate more than one pair, and you’ll receive a 25% discount coupon for each pair.  They’re not taking any other clothing donations – this deal is just jeans!  Aéropostale distributes the jeans to a local homeless shelter or charity in their network. The overall aim is to help homeless teens, but you don’t have to be a teen to join in.

Start sorting out your closet! Teens for Jeans runs till February 10, 2013, and this is a national promotion at all stores. Take your jeans to Albuquerque Aéropostale stores at Coronado Center and Cottonwood Mall.

If you want to contribute but don’t care about the discount, you can also donate your jeans at Albuquerque BioPark  during business hours. Leave your old jeans in one of the collection boxes at the administration offices at the Albuquerque Zoo or the Aquarium and Botanic Garden. (No need to pay the BioPark admission just to drop items off at the offices.) Los Lunas Middle School is leading that denim drive and depending on how many pairs of jeans they collect they could also win funds for the school.

Toys R Us & Babies R Us Trade-In for 25% Off

Comments Off on Toys R Us & Babies R Us Trade-In for 25% Off

Way to save at Toys R Us and Babies R Us, and get safer gear for tots too…

The Great Trade-in event at Babies R Us and Toys R Us stores is on until Sunday February 10, 2013, with 25% off certain products when you trade your old ones in. It doesn’t matter where you bought your used items – they don’t have to be purchased at Babies R Us or Toys R Us, and no receipt is required.

The offer is for a 25% discount on cribs, car seats, bassinets, strollers, travel systems, play yards, high chairs, walkers, swings, bouncers, entertainers or toddler/twin beds when you take your used item in those product categories to trade in.

You can take more than one item and get a separate 25% discount coupon for each, to use against multiple new purchases. The coupon is valid on the day of trade-in only. The promotion cites its focus on baby items for safety reasons, as some of these products aren’t necessarily best to hand down or resell for reasons including damage, or lack of compliance with the most up-to-date safety standards. So trade ’em for a discount!

There are some exclusions (Maxi-Cosi car seats, doorway jumpers, etc) and you can see those and the FAQs at the Toys R US, Babies R US Trade-In link. Note that the discount on Britax items is 15%.

Toddle along to either of the two Albuquerque Toys R Us locations (7400 Indian School Road and 3701 Ellison Road) or to the Babies R Us store at 45 Hotel Circle.

Bookworks Teacher Appreciation Party

Comments Off on Bookworks Teacher Appreciation Party

Bookworks is throwing a special event for educators, with 25% off purchases.

Teachers turning up for the Bookworks Teacher Appreciation Party on Monday October 15, 2012, can expect a little more than an apple! The event starts at 4 pm, with a 25% discount for educators on all purchases from 4 pm onwards. That’s not just a discount on books, but on cards, mugs, soaps, and the other gift items on sale at Bookworks. (I can spend hours in there. And I often do.)

Other out-of-the-classroom activities include a 6 pm appearance by Stephen McCranie, the author of the Mal and Chad series of graphic novels, to give a talk and sign books. Expect a mini yoga clinic, chocolate tasting (yum! I always like chocolate after my yoga, or even during my yoga) and refreshments and prize drawings.

Yay to Bookworks for offering an event to celebrate teachers, because by golly I don’t know where I would be without some wonderful teachers who helped me when I was a mere lass. Hard to imagine I was ever a mere lass, but I promise it’s true.

Bookworks is an independent bookstore, located at 4022 Rio Grande Blvd NW, next to Flying Star Cafe.

Albuquerque Isotopes Combo Plan Tickets

February 16, 2012 by

Comments Off on Albuquerque Isotopes Combo Plan Tickets

This Albuquerque Isotopes ticket combo plan for the 2012 season hits a home run with savings of 25%.

The Isotopes ticket Combo Plan gives you a package of 16 undated ticket vouchers plus $56 worth of Baseball Bucks to spend on food, drink, and merchandise at Isotopes Park concessions and in the Isotopes Park Pro Shop.

The 16 ticket vouchers can be used any which way you want – 16 baseball buddies all going to one game, or you can go by your own  sweet self to 16 different games. (Wouldn’t that be a bit lonely though? Go on, treat a friend!) Or you can redeem them in any other permutation. The package is good for home games during the 2012 season, including fireworks games, and offers savings of over 25%, with prices varying by seating level:

  • Reserved Level: $197
  • Box Level: $225
  • Club Level: $360

There are quite a few ways to think about the savings on this ‘Topes deal. I’ve tried calculating several of them and have now given myself quite the headache.

For the cheaper Reserved Level tickets, single tickets on the day of the game cost $13.  So 16 x $13 + $56 in Baseball bucks = a package value of $264. At the promo price of $197, you’re saving just over 25%.

Even with advance purchase Reserved Level tickets at $11 each, the 16 tickets alone would tally up to $176, so you’re basically getting $21 worth of Baseball bucks free!

To help you do your own math:

  • Box Level tickets on the day of the game are $15, advance purchase $13. (Giving a total value of $264 – $296 for the package price of $225)
  • Club Level tickets on the day of the game are $25, advance purchase $23. (Giving a total value of $424 – $456 for the package price of $360.)

There’s also an Isotopes ticket combo plan for 22 tickets including the $56 worth of Baseball Bucks. I’m not going to calculate all the savings on those or my brain will combust. They’re good value. ‘Nuff said!

Albuquerque Isotopes Park is located at 1601 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE.

Spa Certificates BOGO 25% Off for Valentines

Comments Off on Spa Certificates BOGO 25% Off for Valentines

If you haven’t got your Valentine’s Day gifts organized yet, here are the promo codes to get spa certificates for instant delivery with a BOGO discount.

I’ve been hunting around at SpaFinder for gift certificates – they’re valid at some of the most popular spas in Albuquerque (and thousands of spas nationally) and you can either print out a personalized certificate or email it to the recipient to spend at the spa of their choice, on the services they want.

Right now there are two Valentine’s Day promo codes for BOGO deals via SpaFinder:

Buy one certificate and get 25% off a second certificate of the same value through February 14 using the promo code: LOVE25   The minimum order to qualify for that discount is $100 per certificate. So my math says you get the second $100 certificate for $75.

Buy one certificate and get 20% off a second certificate of the same value through February 14 using the promo code: VDAY20    The minimum order to qualify is $50 per certificate. So my math says you get the second $50 certificate for $40.

Plug in a zip code at the links to see participating spas accepting the certificates, but at a quick search I found these Albuquerque area spas:

  • Betty’s Bath & Day Spa
  • Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa
  • Great Face & Body
  • Casa Verde Spa
  • Sage Spa Services
  • Mark Pardo Salon & Spa
  • Patty’s Salon Spa
  • Picaflor Day Spa

They have various denominations for certificates, so just make sure you buy two of the minimum value required to use the discount promo codes.

Certificates don’t have an expiry date, but note that they must be used in one visit – so you can’t buy a $100 certificate and split it over several visits.  You can also have a gift card mailed in a gift box, but then there’s a small fee, and why not send it free by email or print it out to give yourself?

–Tania. FYI I’ve given my SpaFinder affiliate links to plug you direct to those deals. To help support ABQ on the Cheap (it doesn’t cost you anything), please use the links. Thanks!

Comments Off on Habitat for Humanity ReStore Lighting Deal

Thanks to Dona at Habitat for Humanity for letting us know about this deal at ReStore. It’s pretty good timing as I guess many of us are thinking about home improvements for spring and doing up the decor. If you’re looking for lighting, here’s the deal…

From Tuesday January 17 to Saturday January 21 only, you can get 25% off all lighting at the Albuquerque ReStore when you mention you saw this deal at Albuquerque on the Cheap.

Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells new and used building materials, home decor and furniture, from windows and cabinets to appliances in good working condition. The money raised at the store goes back into Habitat for Humanity projects. I’m a big fan of their work, especially after attending the ribbon-cutting of a new home and seeing how chuffed the family and volunteers were to swing open that new front door!

The 25% discount on lighting is only from January 17 – 21, 2012 –  and mention that you saw the offer here at ABQ on the Cheap.

The Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity ReStore is open from 9 am – 5 pm on Tuesdays through Saturday, located at 200 San Mateo SE.
