Comments Off on Free Pancakes at IHOP March 3
On IHOP’s National Pancake Day, IHOP is giving dine-in customers a free short stack of pancakes… no doubt they’ll go like hotcakes! People from around the country will celebrate a “Decade of Giving” with the tenth annual National Pancake Day at IHOP.
So hop on over to your local IHOP on Tuesday March 3, 2015, between 7 am and 10 pm, to claim a short stack of free IHOP pancakes – that’s three buttermilk pancakes. In exchange, consider making a donation to Children’s Miracle Network to support children’s hospitals, or other local charities.
IHOP’s National Pancake Day celebration has raised almost $16 million for charity since it started in 2006. Their goal this year is to raise $3.5 million for charity. Wow!
They’ve given away more than 10 million pancakes in previous years, so make sure three of those cakes have your name written on them in 2015!
The IHOP National Pancake Day offer is limited to one free short stack per person, at participating restaurants for dine-in only while supplies last and is not valid with any other offer, special coupon or discount.

- $35 off a 90-minute package for two people on full swing and short game, usually $135, now $100
They’re available to buy till December 31, 2014, then the gift must be redeemed by the end of December 2015. The final order date for delivery by Christmas is Friday December 19, 2014.
Expect to pay $1 for shipping, and you can personalize the certificate with a message for the recipient.
Find out more about Sandy Lemon here – she’s got a very impressive golfing bio and is Director of Instruction for Twin Warriors Golf Club at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa, and also for the Santa Ana Golf Club.

Comments Off on Discount Golf for NM Residents on Santa Fe Trail Courses
New Mexico golf courses are beautiful to play, especially when you’re saving dollars on green fees! New Mexico residents can get a great deal on New Mexico golf that works out to just $25 per round including top notch courses like Paa-Ko Ridge, Twin Warriors, and UNM Championship. The offer is only for New Mexico residents.
This twilight golf pass gives a discount on Golf on the Santa Fe Trail courses, letting you play all eight for just $200. That’s 25 bucks per round, a very low par for these courses, saving over $150.
Twilight hours start at 2 pm, allowing plenty of time for a relaxed game, and the pass can be used Monday to Thursday. The pass is valid for one year from purchase date, to play all the Santa Fe Trail golf courses once each – see the trail map at the link. Six are around Albuquerque, the other two are north of Santa Fe:
- Paa-Ko Ridge
- Twin Warriors
- UNM Championship
- Santa Ana
- Isleta Eagle
- Black Mesa
They say pass numbers are limited, although some form of this pass deal has been ongoing for a while now. Still, golfers who want to try all these excellent area courses will stumble on their soft spikes to snap this one up.
To summarize the very fair deal conditions for the discounted Golf on the Santa Fe Trail pass:
- You must be a New Mexico resident and can play each course only once
- The pass can be used Monday to Thursday for tee times starting from 2 pm
- Book tee times up to seven days in advance, for groups of no more than four players
- The pass is good for a year from date of purchase
If you don’t play yourself, this could make a good gift for the golfer in your life. Buy the discount golf pass online.
If you’re not a New Mexico resident or if you’re taking an out-of-state guest, regular green fees are still very competitive (especially compared to other national courses of similar quality) at all the Golf on the Santa Fe Trail courses.
Comments Off on Rio Rancho Sunday is Funday 2013
It’s the Mayor’s annual picnic in Rio Rancho this weekend, and the Sunday is Funday event features a Superheroes theme. Specifically a “Superheroes…Bullying Stops Here!” theme.
Mayor Swisstack’s Rio Rancho Sunday is Funday event on Sunday August 18, 2013, offers lots of family fun from 12 noon to 4:30 pm.
Admission is free to the Rio Rancho Sunday is Funday, which has now officially changed its name to the Tony Popper Memorial Mayor’s Sunday is Funday. The event includes Mayor Swisstack’s fun pentathlon, live music, and activities for kids including clowns, jumps, and a rock climbing wall. You can also browse vendor booths from local businesses.
Parking is $3 per car at the Rio Rancho High School, and you will need to pay for your food too of course, although it’s usually inexpensive so you can feed the kids without breaking the bank.
Rio Rancho Sunday is Funday:
- When: Sunday August 18, 2013
- Time: Noon to 4:30 pm
- Where: Rio Rancho High School, 301 Loma Colorado Boulevard, Rio Rancho, just west of Loma Colorado Park.
- Admission: Free, but parking at Rio Rancho High School is $3 per car.
Comments Off on Bernalillo County Free Movies in the Park
Here’s a great free Albuquerque film series this summer, providing the perfect excuse to enjoy a picnic while watching family-friendly free movies in the park.
The Bernalillo County Free Movies in the Park 2013 series runs on various Friday and Saturday evenings until September 20, at different outdoor locations around town.
The next free Movies in the Park dates are:
June 1 – The Amazing Spider Man with Andrew Garfield in the title role
June 7 – Les Miserables featuring a slew of unhappy French people played by a star-studded cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway
June 8 – ParaNorman, an animated film featuring a boy who tackles ghosts, zombies and (even worse) grown-ups to save his home town from a centuries-old curse
June 14 – The Pursuit of Happyness starring the fantabulous Will Smith
June 15 – Hotel Transylvania with a fresh take on Dracula in this animated movie voiced by Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, and others.
The schedule may change, and the movies start at dusk at different locations each time, so check out the full Bernalillo County Free Movies in the Park program.
It’s fine to take blankets, lawn chairs, and coolers with a picnic, but no alcohol. In previous years any other beverages also had to be in a sealed (unopened) container, just in case you were spiking your orange juice with vodka Now, would we ever do that?
Take note: All outdoor movies are weather-permitting.
Comments Off on Avocado Sale May 1 (Cheap Salmon too)
Making guacamole for the Cinco de Mayo weekend? Here’s a one-day sale to save on avocados…
I could easily eat an avocado a day (they’re supposed to be healthy fat, right?) and a bowl of guacamole doesn’t last long in this house, between me and Mr Cheap battling it out with our tortilla chips. And did you know that if you put an avocado stone in water for a few days then plant it, it makes quite a pretty houseplant?
Anyhoo… as an avocado advocate, I was pleased to hear about this one-day Whole Foods Market sale on Wednesday May 1, 2013.
Avocados are on sale at 10 for $10, or $1 each, saving up to 67 cents on each avocado. It’s good timing for the Cinco de Mayo weekend if you choose avocados that are not too ripe already, although maybe they’re selling them off because they are ripe – so you’ll take your chances there. Oh dear, you’ll just have to eat them immediately 😉
I’d usually give you a sale web link but I got this info in an email from Whole Foods, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. The avocado sale is only on Wednesday May 1, 2013, while supplies last.
If you’re firing up the grill, I also notice in the Whole Foods sales flyer that Columbia River Whole Sockeye Salmon is on sale at $7.99 per pound (saving $4 a pound) from May 1 – 14.
You don’t need any coupons, just turn up at the participating Whole Food Market stores in Albuquerque:
- Whole Foods Market Indian Plaza store at 2103 Carlisle Blvd. NE
- Whole Foods Market Academy store at 5815 Wyoming Blvd NE
- The sale is also on at the two Santa Fe Whole Foods stores if you’re heading thataway, at 753 Cerrillos Road, and 1090 S. Saint Francis Drive.
