Thanks for voting ABQ on the Cheap into the Top 5 Blogs for Albuquerque The Magazine’s Best of the City Awards 2011! It’s a thrill to win your vote of confidence again this year, and thanks to everyone who voted for us… Albuquerque on the Cheap readers are the best!
I would have known about this earlier, but I did NOT take my own advice. I always recommend subscribing to Albuquerque The Magazine to save money, but I let my own subscription lapse recently, and didn’t buy the December issue until last week.
But I’ve just taken advantage of this Albuquerque The Magazine subscription deal – get two years’ subscription for a mere $14. That’s more than 50% off the usual subscription of $15 a year, and a bargain for a magazine that comes chock-full of entertaining articles, profiles of the people to know and the places to go, info on Albuquerque restaurants, arts, and businesses, and I always love the free recipes. (This month it’s comfort food with chicken.)
Even the regular magazine subscription at $15 a year saves 65% on the cover price of $3.95 per issue – so if you buy more than three issues a year on the newstands anyway, it’s a no-brainer to subscribe and save.
The two years for $14 magazine deal makes an Albuquerque The Magazine subscription still sweeter. The offer is available for a limited time via Groupon, and you can also give subscriptions as a gift.
In the Best of the City Awards, congratulations to Best Blog winner Joe Monahan, and the other bloggers in the best of the rest top five: the sparky One Headlight Inc, the wonderful Duke City Fix, and Gil’s Thrilling (and Filling) Blog by fab foodie Gil Garduno.
Thanks to you readers who support all of the Albuquerque magazines, newspapers, and bloggers.
–Tania FYI I’ve given you my Groupon affiliate link. To help support ABQ on the Cheap (it doesn’t cost you anything), please use the link. Thanks!
As a writer and avid reader I’m always keen to support initiatives to help people read more. And I’m especially keen to support our local owned independent bookstores…. especially when we save money too!
Print out this Page One coupon to save $5 on any $30 purchase, which could come in handy for last minute gifts, or to buy books to read in the new year. It’s valid on new or used items, till December 31 2010.
For ABQ on the Cheap readers with a smart phone or other internet enabled doohickey, you don’t even have to use the printable coupon. Just show it on your “web capable mobile device” to the cashier to get the $5 discount.
I do love that phrase: web capable. I’m not sure how capable I am on the web right now as I’m kinda busy roasting chestnuts. But even while my mind is on jingling bells, $5 off a $30 purchase sounds pretty cool to me…
Page One Bookstore is located at 11018 Montgomery NE

Also on the bill is Symphonie Espagnole for Violin and Orchestra by Edouard Lalo, featuring David Felberg as violin soloist.

Comments Off on The Limited 40% Off Sale: One Day Only
A little bird just told me (well, actually it was an email from The Limited) that on Saturday December 18, 2010 EVERYTHING is 40% off at The Limited.
Note added Jan 2, 2011: Apologies to any email subscribers who received a repeat of this old post about a December 18 sale. Obviously I did not send out a post on a past event – the Feedburner service had a technical blip that’s beyond my control and emailed the old post out again. Sigh. Technology is great when it works (most of the time) and frustating when it decides to have a mind of its own… wishing you all the best for 2011 and thanks for your support of ABQ on the Cheap! Tania
The discount applies whether you’re shopping at the store or purchasing at The Limited online. That means 40% off women’s jeans, suits, pants, sweaters, dresses, skirts, jackets, accessories, and whatever all else they sell.
Sorry, I don’t have a link to the deal at time of writing on Friday night, as I say it came in an email. But I want to give the heads-up as soon as possible. Presumably if you’re reading this Saturday morning, you’ll see the 40% off deal showing at The Limited website.
The one day sale is on Saturday December 18, and apparently no coupons or coupon codes are needed. The online prices will already reflect the discount.
Teacher and Student Discount
Plus, did you know that educators and students receive a 15% discount at The Limited women’s fashion store every single day? The discount for teachers and students is valid on purchases made in stores. They don’t exactly shout about it, it’s hidden away in the Frequently Asked Questions on their website under The Limited Promotions, so you have to know to ask for it. Now you know, so ask for it!
You need to take your student or educator ID and the 15% off is only good in stores, not online. It also can’t be combined with other coupons. No expiry date visible, seems it’s an ongoing promotion.
The Limited in Albuquerque is located in Cottonwood Mall.
Fashionistas – look sharp! My purty little ears perked up when I heard (via Facebook) that Runway Apparel is having a store-wide sale of 25% off all women’s fashion through Christmas Eve. For items on the sale rack, you get an extra 10% off.
As nothing at the Runway Apparel boutique costs over $100 in the first place, that sounds like we’re looking at styling savings, and it comes at just the right time to grab something hot for holiday parties. Because after all darling, we all know we have NOTHING to wear!
I interviewed Runway Apparel owner Lori Medik recently for an article for Local Flavor magazine, and she really knows her stuff and gave brilliant fashion tips. Well, you probably already know that, seeing as Runway Apparel was voted winner of Best Casual Women’s Wear and made the top 3 for Best Boutique and Best Accessories in the readers’ vote for Albuquerque The Magazine’s Best of the City Awards 2010.
The 25% off sale runs to December 24, 2010.
Runway Apparel is located at 5901-D Wyoming at Academy and Wyoming.

Comments Off on 25% Off Jewelry and Gifts for ABQ on the Cheap Readers
It’s the last two days to get 25% off Susan See’s fab jewelry and gifts with an exclusive promo code for ABQ on the Cheap readers. The offer is good till December 18.
I’m a fan of local photographer Susan See’s work. She cleverly takes her striking photo images and turns them into unique earrings, pendants, bookmarks, and magnets. She’s also very good company if you’re on Twitter – find her @susan_see.
So I’m delighted that Susan has offered ABQ on the Cheap readers a discount of 25% off your entire order when you use the promo code below at her online store Susan See Photo Jewelry and Gifts.
Prices are a bargain even before the discount, especially for one-off work from a local artist. For example $20 for glass photo earrings, $10.50 to $19.50 for glass photo pendants.
You need to make a minimum $10 order to get the discount and the offer is good until Saturday December 18, 2010, as that’s the last day for an order to be placed and received before Christmas.
To get 25% off, first choose your items at Susan See Photo Jewelry and Gifts. Then you have a choice:
- Either Send Susan an e-mail via the Contact Me form on her Bio/Contact page with details of your order and quoting the promo code: ABQCheap-DecPhoto25
Susan will then send you an invoice via PayPal.
- Or place the order at the website, paying the full amount via PayPal, and quoting this promo code in the PayPal notes: ABQCheap-DecPhoto25
Susan will then refund the 25% discount to you when processing your order.
You don’t need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal, you can just use a credit or debit card too – you’ll get that option as you go through checkout.
The deadline to order with the 25% discount is December 18, 2010 at Susan See Photo Jewelry and Gifts.
