Here’s a very cool event. Even if you don’t sing, it might be fun to go and enjoy the free concert!

The Albuquerque community is invited to sing in the chorus during a performance of several selections from Handel’s Messiah. The concert will be held on Sunday, December 13 (2009), at 7:00pm and is expected to last about 90 minutes. In addition to community participants in the chorus, the concert will feature 8 soloists, 3 conductors, 4 accompanist, 1 trumpeter, 1 harpist and 5 organists from throughout Albuquerque.

If you plan to sing, you’ll need to bring your own score for the Messiah. There won’t be any formal rehearsals for the chorus.

Skiers must be salivating over the lovely blizzard that hit northern New Mexico’s ski resorts yesterday. And you already know New Mexico skiing is very inexpensive.

Well, now you can even score FREE lodging! Sipapu Ski Resort brings back one of its most popular promotions EVar: buy a $39 lift ticket and get one night’s lodging free! You and up to three ski buddies can get a free room at Sipapu’s motel, located mere yards from the base of the lifts. Your room will include two queen beds. Awesome!

This is a limited-availability offer. The number of available free rooms is limited, as are the dates. In fact, the web page lists conflicting dates for this promotion, so best to call ahead and check before you get too excited about this deal.

Sipapu Ski Resort also runs other fun promotions throughout the ski season, such as Car Load Days, where everyone in your car skis for just $50.

Sipapu is located about 20 miles southeast of Taos, approximately a two-hour drive from Albuquerque.

To Receive is to Give: Now through December 21 at participating Denny’s any donation to the Toys for Tots drive gains you a FREE six-pack of Pancake Puppies. Like we said before, they sound strange, but strangely good at the same time.

Give a Little, Get a Lot: Don’t know what to stick in 50 of those boring ol’ Christmas cards, how about a $5.00 Satellite or Flying Star gift card? When you purchase $250.00 in gift cards, receive an additional 10% in gift cards FREE! I’m sure there is one near you because they’re poppin up everywhere!

Double Wammy: Don’t you just love sister companies? I do, special at one, special at the other! With these awesome coupons, get either $5.00-off on two entrees at Olive Garden, or at Red Lobster! They both expire on December 30, 2009. Multiple locations around the Q.

It’s Bacon!: For all of you fast food lovers, you, yes you! Here is a dollar-off on Wendy’s new Baconator. It’s what we call, a “real man’s” sandwich, a lumberjack of a meal, the food that “wears the pants.” Yeah, it’s chock full of bacon, at a wimpy price. Gotta love it.

World of Savings: Nothing better than Friends and Family week! December 3-6 enjoy being part of the family at World Market. With this coupon save 25%-off of household items, gifts etc. and 10%-off gourmet foods and beverages! Sorry, no wine, but use the money you saved to buy it! Located on Menaul west of Carlisle

What the Heck is an Arepa?: New northeast restaurant Cafe Choroni specializes in Arepas. You may be asking yourself, like I did, what is that?! An arepa is bread made from corn instead of wheat that are baked into a flat patty and then filled with sandwich goodness. I’m willing to try it, and with the ValPak coupon, for a BOGO arepa, there is no excuse! Located on San Mateo and Candelaria.

Undiscovered Greatness: Recently winner of ABQ the Magazine’s “Best Undiscovered Restaurant” category is locally owned, Straight Up Pizza at 6501 Wyoming Blvd NE. A little research made my mouth water and stomach growl for one of their many pizza choices, they have close to 20 toppings! And, use one of their coupons for a $12.99 large 3-topping and you’re basically getting the toppings for free!
