Free Week of Yoga Classes

National Yoga Month heads to the mat in September 2013, and new students at participating yoga studios get a week of free yoga in September or October with the Yoga Month Card.

National Yoga Month aims to educate us on the benefits of yoga and inspire everyone to live healthier, happier lives. Can’t argue with that, can you?

As part of the celebration, new students can get a free week of yoga classes with the Yoga Month Card, throughout September and October until October 30, 2013.

The card for a free week of yoga is for NEW students only, to give you a chance to try out yoga at participating studios. Our understanding from conversations with the yoga teachers in previous years is that ‘new student’ means new to a particular studio – you don’t have to be a beginner. But check in advance with your chosen studio with any questions.

Participating Albuquerque yoga studios at time of writing (more may be added) are:

  • Midtown Sports & Wellness (4100 Prospect NE)
  • Holistic Wellness Co-Op (1024 Eubank NE)
  • Albuquerque Ashtanga Yoga (206 Dartmouth Drive NE)
  • Kundun Yoga in Cedar Crest

Register for the Free Yoga Month Card, choose a studio, then print out the card. The offer is for one yoga card per person, and you can only choose one studio. You can’t change your selection later, so confirm any questions in advance with the studio to be certain you’ve picked the one you want.  It’s possible that more studios may join the program so you can always wait a few days if the ones listed aren’t so convenient for you.

Then use the card for a week’s worth of free lessons until October 30, 2013.

Sadly there don’t seem to be any other Albuquerque free yoga events this year – sometimes there have been special free classes. But perhaps some will come on board or let us know if they’ve got National Yoga Month specials on offer. If so, I’ll update.

Still, the luxury of a week of free yoga classes is rather fab. And if you’re going to do a sun salutation, what better place to do it than sunny Albuquerque?

Comments Off on Free Yoga Class for Kids Feb 25 & New Student Deal

Bikram Yoga of Albuquerque has a cool freebie for kids, and a hot deal for new students…

If you want your children to try yoga (that’ll keep ’em out of mischief), Bikram Yoga of Albuquerque is running a free yoga class for kids this Saturday February 25, 2012, at 12 noon. The 45-minute class is for youngsters aged 3 to 12, and they say this is a non-heated class. In fact, they’re giving out snow cones! The class is at the Westside studio.

For those of us a little older, the Bikram Yoga of Albuquerque new student special gives new yoga practitioners a two week unlimited pass for $25, to take any number of yoga classes in those two weeks.

Bikram Yoga is also known as hot yoga, as students practice in a heated room for more safety and suppleness when doing the asanas, and also it apparently helps with detoxing and metabolism. Expect to sweat, baby! Here are the things that students new to Bikram Yoga of Albuquerque should know when attending their first class.

I’m also pleased to see that Bikram Yoga of Albuquerque offers a 10% discount on class packages for veterans, police officers, and fire service personnel, and spouses.

That 10% discount extends to seniors 65+, full time college students, and youngsters aged 11-17. Take ID!

Bikram Yoga of Albuquerque studios are on the Eastside at 1930 Juan Tabo NE, and on the Westside at 3611 NM Highway 528 / Alameda NW, which is half a mile west of Corrales Road and Alameda.

National Yoga Month heads to the mat in September 2010 with free Albuquerque yoga classes August 30 – September 4, and new students get a week of free yoga in September or October with the Yoga Month Card.

National Yoga Month aims to educate us to the benefits of yoga and inspire everyone to live healthier, happier lives. Can’t argue with that, can you? Especially when it’s all FREE!  I’m feeling happier already.

Here’s what we’ve got so far on National Yoga Month in Albuquerque, although other yoga studios may join in and play. We’ll update if we hear more.

Free Yoga Classes at Alignment Yoga NM

  • Every class is free next week, August 30 – September 4, 2010.
  • That includes beginning/intermediate classes, pre-natal, back care, and meditation
  • Teacher Christine Stump leads these alignment and breath-based Hatha yoga classes (she’s also studied Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Anusara yoga)
  • Alignment Yoga NM classes take place at Holistic Wellness Co-op, 1024 Eubank NE.

You’re saving $16 bucks a class, as that’s how much their classes usually cost at the drop-in rate. Although (another deal alert!) if you’re a new student, your first session is $16 and the second class is FREE! Monthly rate for unlimited classes is $80.

Free Week of Yoga Classes for New Students with the Yoga Month Card

The card for a free week of yoga is for NEW students only, to give you a chance to try out yoga at participating studios. Our understanding is that ‘new student’ means new to a particular studio – you don’t have to be a beginner. That’s the case with Alignment Yoga NM, but check in advance with other locations.

  • Use the card for a week’s worth of free lessons between September 1 – October 31, 2010
  • Register for the Free Yoga Month Card, choose a studio, then print out the card
  • Check the small print for details. EG: one card per person, and when you print out the Yoga Month Card, it must include the URL at the top of the page to be valid
  • Participating Albuquerque yoga studios (more may be added):  Yoga Now (Downtown), Nob Hill Yoga Center on Central, Alignment Yoga NM at Holistic Wellness Co-Op on Eubank NE.

Note that if you take an Alignment Yoga NM free yoga class next week, you can’t use the Yoga Month Card for more freebies later. Because, you know, you won’t be a new student there any more! So take your pick.

The luxury of freebie yoga choices is rather fab. And if you’re going to do a sun salutation, what better place to do it than sunny Albuquerque, New Mexico?

Free Yoga & Free Cartoons at The Kosmos

May 27, 2010 by

Comments Off on Free Yoga & Free Cartoons at The Kosmos

Let’s get this straight – these are two separate events. The free yoga (on Fridays) is for adults. The free cartoons (on Saturdays) are for kids. But at The Kosmos, you could probably mix that up and nobody would bat an eye…

The Kosmos (known to many as the venue for Church of Beethoven) has slashed its coffee house hours, but you can’t keep a good barista down. The Kosmos is still brewing for events including these two weekly programs:

  • Free Yoga: On Friday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Bring your own mat.
  • Kosmic Toonage: Watch free cartoons on the big screen on Saturday from 10 am to noon. You can also get a $1.50 bowl of cereal, which they describe as “better than worms”…. and who are we to argue?

The Kosmos serves coffee made with locally roasted beans from Fat Boy Roasters, it takes cash only, and free Wi-Fi is thrown in.

The Kosmos is located at 1715 5th St NW, just south of I-40.

Note: The Kosmos has confirmed that these two free events are ongoing for the foreseeable future. However, if you’re reading this in some future time warp we can only imagine, it’s probably best to check directly with the source before setting off in your yoga kit.
