Summerfest: Jazz Night

Summerfest continues downtown on Civic Plaza with Jazz Night this Saturday, July 18 (2009), from 6:00 – 10:30pm. This week’s event is presented in conjunction with the 4th Annual New Mexico Jazz Festival. Summerfest’s free jazz concert performers include Le Chat Lunatique, Patty Stephens & the Brazil Project, Marc Benevento Trio, Dimian Disanti Group, and Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Albuquerque Summerfest is a multi-cultural extravaganza held Saturday evenings in June, July, and August. The event features free live music, dancing, and demonstrations on the stage, along with food vendors, a beer garden, arts and crafts market, and plenty of free kids’ activities, such as face painting, bounce houses, juggling, magic, and more.

Transportation and parking are always an issue with downtown events, so here are a few suggestions:

  • Park for $6 in the garage beneath Civic Plaza (access from Third and Marquette)
  • Park for free at Wells Fargo Bank or Laz Parking’s surface (outside) lot, both on Third Street just north of Roma
  • Take RapidRide’s “Rapid After Dark” service for just a buck a ride — or buy a $15 pass that gives you unlimited rides all summer long

Albuquerque Summerfest is free to the public. You can bring your own beverages and food, but no glass containers or alcohol.

Civic Plaza is located at 1 Civic Plaza. Der. That’s in downtown Albuquerque.
