Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day gives free admission to the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science, El Rancho de las Golondrinas and more, when you use the free admission coupon to print out or show on your smartphone.

Two people get free admission to participating museums across the country on Saturday September 28, 2013, on Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day.   Albuquerque museums joining the party are:

  • The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History
  • Albuquerque Museum of Art & History
  • New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science

You can’t just turn up and get in free. Sign up for a Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day free admission ticket and they’ll email it to you. The ticket covers two people’s admission and is only valid on Saturday September 28, 2013. Some museums allow you to show the ticket on your smart phone to save printing it out. (Check the relevant museum page at the participating New Mexico Museums link to see if they offer that option.)

Other New Mexico museums offering the free admission are:

  • El Rancho de las Golondrinas (Santa Fe)
  • Bradbury Science Museum (Los Alamos)
  • Los Alamos Historical Museum (Los Alamos)
  • Kit Carson Home and Museum (Taos)
  • Haak’u Museum (Acoma Pueblo)
  • Hubbard Museum of the American West (Ruidoso Downs)
  • Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art (Roswell)
  • Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum (Tucumcari)
  • University Museum, New Mexico State University (Las Cruces)
  • Western Heritage Museum Complex and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame (Hobbs)

Savvy cheapos might use their ticket for the higher cost museums – such as the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, especially as it does not have a regular free admission day. But however you spend it, enjoy your free museum day!
