Last Summerfest of 2009: Hispanic/Latin Night

This is it. Your last chance to catch Summerfest in 2009! This Saturday, August 1 (2009), from 6:00 – 10:30pm, Summerfest concludes with Hispanic/Latin Night. The free concert includes performances by Sorela, El Gringo, and Stefani Montiel. An added feature of the night’s events will be a “Senior Idol” competition. Sounds like singing, but will it be better than karaoke?

Albuquerque Summerfest is a multi-cultural extravaganza held Saturday evenings in June, July, and August. The event features free live music, dancing, and demonstrations on the stage, along with food vendors, a beer garden, arts and crafts market, and plenty of free kids’ activities, such as face painting, bounce houses, juggling, magic, and more.

Transportation and parking are always an issue with downtown events, so here are a few suggestions:

  • Park for $6 in the garage beneath Civic Plaza (access from Third and Marquette)
  • Park for free at Wells Fargo Bank or Laz Parking’s surface (outside) lot, both on Third Street just north of Roma
  • Take RapidRide’s “Rapid After Dark” service for just a buck a ride — or buy a $15 pass that gives you unlimited rides all summer long

Albuquerque Summerfest is free to the public. You can bring your own beverages and food, but no glass containers or alcohol.

Civic Plaza is located at 1 Civic Plaza. Der. That’s in downtown Albuquerque.
