Free Service Dog Eye Exam
Free service dog eye exams in May – but you have to register in advance by April 30, 2013.
This is in the nature of a public service announcement, to let you know that the 6th annual ACVO National Service Dog Eye Exam event in May 2013 provides a free screening eye exam to service animals including guide dogs. You have to register by April 30 at the ACVO National Service Dog Eye Exam link above by April 30.
The national program includes guide dogs, hearing dogs, dogs assisting people with disabilities other than blindness, detection dogs, police dogs, search and rescue dogs, and formally trained and certified therapy dogs. Dogs need to have appropriate certification and/or training paperwork to qualify for the program, so check out all the details at the link.
Albuquerque is a participating city, and Santa Fe is too, although I don’t see details yet on exactly which veterinary ophthalmologists are offering the free examinations. But again – you need to register first for the ACVO National Service Dog Eye Exam by Tuesday April 30, where you’ll find all the details on how the program works and who is eligible.
