Enjoy an outdoor movie viewing experience like no other with Civic Cinema — classic films shown on a giant screen on Civic Plaza! This should be a cool, fun, free family event.

On Friday, July 31 (2009), the Civic Cinema series wraps up, so grab the kids and the popcorn to enjoy a free movie, Grease, under the stars downtown. It’s the classic shamma lamma ding dong musical in which 1950s greaser Danny turns clean-cut letterman, and goody-goody girl Sandy turns tramp. Ah, those were the days.

The city will provide seating and tables, so you’re free to bring a picnic (no glass containers or alcohol), but you’re welcome to bring your own blankets and chairs if you so desire. Heck you can even bring Fido, as long as he’s leashed.

The movie will start at approximately 9:00pm, depending on darkness. Ah, it brings back memories of the old drive-in days, doesn’t it?

The screening itself is free, but expect to pay for parking.

Civic Plaza is located in the heart of downtown Albuquerque, at Third St NW and Marquette Ave NW.
