We’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the ABQ Trolley Co., and now it’s here!

Friday, May 1 (2009), from 5:00 – 7:00pm, come to the official ribbon-cutting party and score free copies of The Zipper — “A Walk and Ride Guide to Historic Route 66.” From 7:00 – 8:00pm, you can stroll, shop, and dine in Old Town before heading over to One Up Elevated Lounge at 8:00pm to enjoy free cake, music, and “an overly stuffed piñata.” Sounds intriguing!

In case you haven’t yet heard, ABQ Trolley Co. commissioned a custom-built trolley with which they offer a 66-minute “Best of ABQ” tour. Should be great for long-time residents and visitors alike!

The Zipper is a map packed with info about the transit options and businesses along the historic Route 66 corridor, from Old Town to Nob Hill. It’s a great resource for discovering (or re-discovering) Albuquerque’s hidden gems in dining, shopping, and more. About 300 Zippers will be given away at the Día de los Burqueños event.

The event will be held at Plaza Don Luís in Old Town before moving to One Up Elevated Lounge, located at 301 Central Ave NW, Albuquerque.

Next week, we’re gonna share a secret for how to get cheaper tickets to ride the trolley, so stay tuned!
