Old Town really is one of the finest places to be on a warm summer night in Albuquerque. And we gotta give props to the city for providing a wealth of entertainment for FREE on the plaza.

This Thursday, June 11 (2009), for example, you can enjoy Cultural Sunsets at the gazebo. (For visitors, “the gazebo” is just that: a big, tan-and-white gazebo in the middle of Old Town plaza.) Cultural Sunsets run from 6:30 – 8:30pm and include arts and crafts workshops for children, along with multi-cultural performers adorned in native costumes. This week, Pastatones performs. We don’t know what they do, but it sounds like fun, nonetheless!

Obviously, there’s plenty to do merely by strolling around Old Town. If you get the yen, you can stop in numerous places for coffee, soda, or even cocktails.

Old Town is located in the heart of Albuquerque, just northeast of the intersection of Central Ave SW and Rio Grande NW. Here’s a map of Old Town, proper.
