Free $2 MP3 Credit & Free Amazon Prime 2-Day Shipping for Students
Three separate deals for students and all the rest of us!
Get a free $2 MP3 credit in a limited time deal on Amazon, when you answer a question and share on Facebook, through January 10. The question at the link is how you would spend any money you save on textbooks.
In a separate deal, college students joining the free Amazon Student membership program get Amazon Prime free 2-day shipping for six months and other student perks. Amazon Prime offers two-day shipping for speedy delivery, with no minimum order, if you need your text books (or any other purchases) in a hurry. The service usually costs $79 a year. Plus, students joining Amazon Student before January 30 are automatically entered to win $5,000 in the College Cash Sweepstakes.
Other student benefits include discounts and news on offers and promotions, and free release-date delivery on video games, DVDs, books and other items. To sign up for the free Amazon Student with Amazon Prime, you need to verify that you’re a current student at a college or university by providing a .edu email address. Once that .edu address is verified, use any email you choose to manage your Amazon account.
The free offer does not include movie streaming, nor the Kindle Owners Lending Library to borrow books but students can choose to upgrade to a discounted $39 Amazon Prime membership, which does include access to Prime instant videos and Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
At the end of the free six months, members are automatically switched to the discounted Amazon Prime membership costing $39 a year – which is still a saving on the regular $79 rate, with video streaming. If you don’t want to be automatically upgraded, make sure you select the “do not upgrade” option during your free six months.
See all the terms, details, and benefits of the Amazon Prime Student deal, which you can also use to order products other than books. Existing Amazon Prime members (who are students) can still register for Amazon Student, and get a refund on the remainder of their subscription.
I’d always encourage you to support your local independent bookstore such as Bookworks and Page One, or, of course, the University of New Mexico Bookstore if you study at UNM. But if you buy online anyway, this is a great way to save on shipping costs, especially if you need your books in a rush because you’ve left your studying till the last minute (Tsk tsk! Yeah, I know, we’ve all done it…)
NOT A STUDENT AND WANT TO TRY AMAZON PRIME?
Everyone else can still try Amazon Prime with a free one month trial. The free month trial includes unlimited instant video streaming of movies and TV shows. Be sure to cancel your subscription before the free trial ends or select “do not upgrade” once you’re registered for the freebie, if you don’t want your credit card to be automatically charged for the annual $79 subscription at the end of the trial period.
