Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day gives free entry to the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, Albuquerque’s Balloon Museum, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum and more, saving up to $8 per person when you use the free admission coupon.

Two people get free admission to participating museums across the country on Saturday September 29, 2012, on Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day.   Albuquerque museums joining the party are:

  • The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History
  • Albuquerque Museum of Art & History
  • New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science
  • National Hispanic Cultural Center

You can’t just turn up and get in free. Sign up for a Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day free admission ticket and they’ll email it to you. The ticket covers two people’s admission and is only valid on Saturday September 29, 2012.

Other participating New Mexico museums are:

  • Georgia O’Keeffe Museum (Santa Fe)
  • El Rancho de las Golondrinas (Santa Fe)
  • Bradbury Science Museum (Los Alamos)
  • Hubbard Museum of the American West (Ruidoso Downs)
  • Mesalands Community College’s Dinosaur Museum (Tucumcari)
  • University Museum, New Mexico State University (Las Cruces)
  • Western Heritage Museum Complex and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame (Hobbs)

Savvy cheapos might use their ticket for the higher cost museums – such as the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, which usually costs $8 per adult, $7 for kids (kids aged 5 and under go free), especially as it does not have a regular free admission day. But however you spend it, enjoy your free museum day!
