Five minutes. Twenty slides. A topic of your choice.

That’s the simple premise of Ignite. Short presentations on cool topics of all kinds. And it’s free to participate or attend.

The first Ignite New Mexico event takes place tomorrow, July 15 (2009), 6:30pm, in the Acoma Room of the Student Union Building on the UNM campus. The topics range from über-geeky (Introduction to High-Throughput Flow Cytometry) to the thoughtful (Social Learning – How the web is changing learning and education) to the useful (Better online sales — tips and tricks to improve sales). In all, 13 topics will be covered. Each speaker is strictly limited to five minutes and a maximum of 20 slides that rotate automatically every 15 seconds. It’s sure to be energetic and fun!

The Student Union Building is located on the south end of UNM’s campus, near Popejoy Hall. You may be able to park in the Cornell parking structure, accessed via the Stanford entrance off Central, or in one of the paid surface lots that dot the Central/Yale/Stanford area. Be careful parking on the street; make sure you don’t need a U permit, or you might get ticketed.
