Cocktails and Astronaut: April 27
The Balloon Museum’s new Departures Salon series is described as an “after-hours lounge” for adults, which makes it sound rather more louche than it probably is, bearing in mind the venue.
The salon evenings feature expert speakers, and a mix and mingle with refreshments and a cash bar – plus of course the chance to take an after-hours look around the Balloon Museum.
Astronaut Mike Mullane is the Riding Rockets Departures Salon guest speaker on Wednesday April 27, from 5 – 7 pm. Admission is $5 on the door, which seems pretty good value to me for an after-work mixer in this great location, with music, and an inspiring guest speaker.
BUT save $5 if you’re on Twitter! Albuquerque and New Mexico Tweeters get free tickets by registering for the Riding Rockets Tweetup . You need to enter your Twitter name and apparently your guests get free admission too. (Don’t forget you can also follow us on Twitter @ABQCheap )
Colonel Mike Mullane flew on the 1978 space shuttle, and his memoir Riding Rockets: The Outrageous Tales of a Space Shuttle Astronaut, tells his insider astronaut stories.
The event kicks off at 5 pm with a mix and mingle in the Second Wind Lounge, live music with Aaron Lewis, refreshments and a cash bar. The Mike Mullane presentation and discussion starts at 6 pm.
