The Lion King Drumming Workshop at Balloon Museum: October 24
I’ve mentioned the free Stories in the Sky program at the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum before, but this week it’s an extra-special event that’s bound to drum up interest…
Reuven Weizberg is the solo percussionist for Disney’s The Lion King and he’s the guest presenter at Stories in the Sky on Wednesday October 24, leading a drumming workshop for kids in two morning sessions from 9:30 to 10:15 am and from 11 to 11:45 am.
During the Balloon Museum’s free Stories in the Sky presentation, kids can drum with Weizberg, make an instrument, dance to music, and (as usual with this weekly program) hear a story. Weizberg has been a solo percussionist on the hit musical Disney’s The Lion King North American tour since 2008, so presumably he knows his way around a drum.
If you miss this special guest event, the Stories in the Sky program takes place every Wednesday morning for kids aged 6 months to 6 years. There are two session times, from 9:30 to 10:15 am for the first session, and from 11 to 11:45 am for the second.
Admission to the Balloon Museum during Stories in the Sky is free for both children and accompanying adults, and the fun for kids includes stories, songs, art, movement, and whatever else they might creatively think up each week, led by Curator of Education and storyteller Laurie Magovern. You can hang out afterward to enjoy the whole museum — on the house! That’s great for homeschoolers.
Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is located at 9201 Balloon Museum NE.
