If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to ABQ on the Cheap's RSS feed or email digests. Thanks for visiting!

If you’ve got kids and want to introduce them to opera in a fun, interactive way, this Puccini & Popcorn event might be just the ticket.

Puccini & Popcorn on Saturday February 18, 2012 at 2 pm is free to families with kids aged 5 – 15, although you need to make reservations in advance. Opera Southwest runs the program at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, and apparently you’ll learn how to create songs for an opera.  Plus, they’ll serve refreshments to help inspire the muse!

Mr Cheap often sings his version of opera in the shower, and I boy do I wish he’d take a workshop. Unfortunately, he’s a little over the target age range for this event.

Puccini and Popcorn runs from 2 – 4 pm, and if you want to tune-up to opera, book a space by calling (505) 831-4221 or email a reservation, as they make it very clear they need to know who’s coming and you can’t just arrive without notice.

Albuquerque Museum of Art and History is located at the corner of Mountain Road and 19th Street, in Albuquerque Old Town.
