Free admission days for New Mexico residents at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science? We like that!

New Mexico residents get in free to The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science on the first Sunday of every month.   So the next free admission day is this Sunday October 7, 2012.

In addition to all the displays including T-Rex Attack and Space Frontiers, and the Naturalist Center room for kids to see specimens and go ‘hands-on’ with exhibits, this Sunday is Meet The Expert Day at the museum. From 11 am – 3 pm you can get behind-the-scenes insights from curators and staff, in the museum atrium. The last I heard, the robotic dinosaurs are also staying on at the museum until October 14.

The free admission day saves $7 per adult (aged 13-59) and $4 for kids (aged 3-12) on the usual ticket price.

To get free admission on the first Sunday of the month, take your New Mexico ID. Even with the freebie, you have to pay regular admission if you want to go in to the Lockheed Martin DynaTheater or the Planetarium.

New Mexico resident seniors age 60+ also continue to get free admission every Wednesday to the NM Museum of Natural History and Science.

New Mexico Museum of Natural and Science is located in Albuquerque Old Town at 1801 Mountain Road NW.

They changed that system well over a year ago, Nicole. Instead of giving free admission to residents of specific New Mexico counties in different months, the museum now gives ALL NM residents free admission on the first Sunday of each month. So October 7 is free if you take your NM ID.

How do I find out which NM county receives free admission during October? I know Sandoval and Los Alamos are November, but I cannot find any info regarding October.
