New Mexico Outdoor Expo takes place this weekend, a free family event, and thanks to reader Leah who went last year for sending a message to tell us about it.  I’d not heard of this one, but it runs to 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, August 18-19, so you’ve still got plenty of time to get over there and join in!

New Mexico Outdoor Expo at the Albuquerque Shooting Range Park gives adults and kids the chance to try fly tying and catfish fishing, archery target shooting, and muzzleloader and shotgun shooting. Visitors can also see fishing demonstrations at the aquarium, and try out the climbing wall.

I’m always very cautious about mentioning anything to do with firearms here at Albuquerque on the Cheap, but the safety factor is in place as this is a New Mexico Department of Game and Fish event, and the shooting ranges will be supervised by certified hunter education instructors using Department of Game and Fish firearms and bows.

Admission is free, and vendors will be selling food and beverages.  Take sun protection as it’s pretty exposed out there.
