A limited time August 2011 special…. read on for when and how!

In the IHOP Kids Eat Free August promotion, a child aged 12 and under gets a free meal from the Just for Kids menu, with the purchase of an adult entree.  It’s one freebie per adult entree,  at participating locations.

The kids eat free offer is good every day in August between 4pm and 10pm on dine-in only.

The Just for Kids menu includes faves such as mac and cheese, the Rooty Jr., crispy chicken strips with fresh fruit, and (of course) lots of pancakes. Drinks aren’t included unless it’s specified on the Just for Kids menu that a drink is included.

They’re also giving kids a Spy Kids themed activity book, including back-to-school coupons, according to a press release.

Related to the IHOP Kids Eat Free promotion, you can enter an online Spy Kids sweepstakes (at the link) to win a family trip to meet Spy Kids writer and director Robert Rodriguez at Troublemaker Studio in Austin, Texas, plus other prizes. The Spy Kids Sweepstakes run through through September 31, 2011.

If you haven’t been to IHOP for a while, you might like to know that IHOP teamed with Kids LiveWell recently, a National Restaurant Association initiative to provide healthy menu choices for children. Many dishes on the Just for Kids menu feature fresh fruit as a substitute for fries (although the menu says you can also substitute the fries back in!), and dishes that meet the criteria for the Kids LiveWell program include grilled tilapia fish served with broccoli.

You can’t take advantage of the kids eat free deal if using any coupons or other discounts. The offer runs through August 31, 2011 at participating IHOP locations. Call ahead if you want to be sure!
